Anyone else taking Lionbridge Exam next week?

Hi
They are still recruiting in the UK, I applied Sunday, got asked for extra info Yesterday (Id not put any phone numbers down) and today had the initial 'you may be suitable' email with the terms and conditions etc
I had a question for any current Lionbridge Internet Assessors, without trying to breaching any of the confidentiality agreement ! Within the information email to me with the consulting agreement (t&c) was also a waiver document which explained you may visit websites which bring pop ups etc on your computer. This got me thinking about internet security and whether anyone had had any problems picking up viruses etc from the websites they had to visit ? Im currently protect my PC with AVG Free and Zone Alarm Firewall - will I be ok ? I hope so as Im really keen on this position, its just what Im looking for, something temporary, to compliment my existing job, to help speed up the paying off of my credit cards !!
Also, just a similar question to the one above, how quickly from sending back my agreement to the T&C am I likely to get the test ? The response to my applications so far seems to have been pretty speedy. If the 5 days starts from receipt of the test Id like to try and increase my chances of having a weekend fall towards the end of that 5 days to give myself time to spend proper, uninterrputed chunk of time on it, so I might not reply to the email until next week.
Finally, does anyone know roughly how many people pass the tests? Ive been looking back at the forum here and could see people that didnt get invited to do the exam but not that many who said they had taken the exams and failed ? As long as you put the work in, is the pass rate pretty good ?

Well, they mustn't like me
I applied on 27th January and the application is still "in progress" when I log on to the site.
Not heard anything from them other than the email confirming application.0 -
Oh, Internet Assessors. Just another question (sorry !!) because I'm a little confused. I submitted the online application and after been emailed to supply some missing information (a phone number) I then received the 'you may be suitable' email with the T&C etc.
Ive not (as far as Im aware !!) completed a pre-screener test (?) or something, that people on here seem to be talking about, but the info Ive been emailed now just talks about the 2 part exam.
Have they changed the application process or am I missing something somewhere ??!Proud to be dealing with my debtsDebt at Light Bulb Moment (January 2011): £21,953Debt at current level (Nov 2013): £4,567.50Debt free wanabee date: Dec 2014 :j0 -
Hi Milltowngirl
I had a question for any current Lionbridge Internet Assessors, without trying to breaching any of the confidentiality agreement ! Within the information email to me with the consulting agreement (t&c) was also a waiver document which explained you may visit websites which bring pop ups etc on your computer. This got me thinking about internet security and whether anyone had had any problems picking up viruses etc from the websites they had to visit ? I have only been doing the job for 2 weeks but have so far had no problems. You do not visit any sites that bring up warnings or your computer blocks etc - you just note down the problems you had. I have got Norton as I have a new laptop but previous to that I had AVG free and always found it to be pretty good.
Also, just a similar question to the one above, how quickly from sending back my agreement to the T&C am I likely to get the test ?
They do not say this but from my experience and reading other posts I think the test tends to run from Wed - Sun each week. So if you have just agreed to to the terms etc then you will most likely get sent the test for next Wed (I actually received the details Tuesday late afternoon). This is just my opinion!
Finally, does anyone know roughly how many people pass the tests? Ive been looking back at the forum here and could see people that didnt get invited to do the exam but not that many who said they had taken the exams and failed ? As long as you put the work in, is the pass rate pretty good ?
I don't know the answer to this. I think people are more likely to come on here and say if they pass rather than fail so I don't know what the pass rate is like. I would say as long as you take time to read everything they send you and understand it and then take your time doing the tests then hopefully you should be fine. It is daunting at first but does get easier - so persevere.
I hope this helps!
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO TAKE TIME TO POST COMPETITIONS

The pre-screener test was in the form of a spreadsheet and was done before the terms & conditions/non disclosure etc was sent to me. Maybe they have changed the application process and decided to take out this step.

Has anyone had any problems opening the pre-screener? Even though I do not have Excel on my lap top I am able to use works spreadsheet to open them, it keeps saying it is password protected and wondered whether anyone else has had this happen?
Worried now as the 48 hours runs out tomorrow mid morning... :-(0 -

The same thing has happened to me. No screener but have received the "you may be suitable" e-mail so expecting the exam details next Wednesday. Let us know how you get on.

This is how it was for me too. The screener is effectively part of the application
Good luck to all the newbies applying
It's not that hard to get in, it just takes a bit of getting your head around because you're not used to looking at things the way they want you too. I can't say too much, but just take your time, take the full 5 days, and don't rush:beer:The only thing we know for sure, is that we know nothing0 -
Thanks for all the replies, folks. Guess for whatever reason they just decided they didnt need me to do the pre-screener or theyve just decided to drop it from the process. Feel better now other people havent been sent it either.
Think I'll reply accepting the t&c this weekend and then hopefully Ill get the exams next week. Normally Im ok at exams so fingers crossed Ill get my head around these ones
Good luck Joe, hope we both pass !!Proud to be dealing with my debtsDebt at Light Bulb Moment (January 2011): £21,953Debt at current level (Nov 2013): £4,567.50Debt free wanabee date: Dec 2014 :j0 -
Agreed to the T&C yesterday morning and set-up a gmail account and had an email back last night saying the link to the exam will be in my inbox in 48 hours and I have 5 days from that point to complete it, nervous times!
I'm a bit worried about the tax situation though, I currently work full-time anyway. Will working here affect the tax level at my current job? My assumption (and plan) was to collect my monthly (?) earnings from here and save 25% of each payment to be paid towards tax....is it that simplistic enough?
Assuming I pass and everything obviously, just got to to consider it....
You need to register as self employed with HMRC and they will then send you a self assesment form out each year.
25% will be plenty. Your full time employer doesnt have to be told unless you want to as you will keep paying the normal tax amounts on your full time income and then pay the tax on your self emplyment.
Hope this helps0
