It is for most people with a family less than 6 :D

Make sure you keep a spare though, in case one goes belly up, because I'm sure you know, you definitely need 2.

    Give them a chance man!

    But I'm IMPATIENT! :p
And how do you know they haven't germinated, they may have done, just not come out of the soil yet. How long have they been in and have a very gentle dig down to see if you have any activity.
Plenty of time yet, no rush at all.

Ooh, no, I'm not disturbing them. Not yet, anyway. They've only been in a week - what's your hurry?
Half way up the right side, behind the 2 troughs of spring onions, you can see my largest courgette out, hopefully I'll be eating one in 2 or 3 weeks. Another thing I look forward to :)

Is that the one surrounded by bottles? What's the idea of those then?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Nice, but can we set a limit of 2 photos at a time or something, or a link. Because it takes bally ages to load! :rotfl:

Oi! It's MY thread - I'll make the rules thank you! :p

 I've been meaning to say, actually, why don't we have no more than 2 photos per post, so it loads more easily? Or links even. They'd work.

They warm up during the day and keep it snuggly at night. That's the theory. I have a feeling, they aren't by any means big enough to do that, but I suspect they keep it warmer longer than it would have been.
And when it's small they keep the wind off it.
I tried an experiment last year, with a small amount of courgettes and cucumbers with the bottles and it seemed to make a difference, so this year, every cucurbit has got some. I want to make some frames so I can stack them up around the outside, but I haven't figured out what I can get free, or that I have, to make them yet.

 Wow that looks dry! Not the veg, obviously, but you must be spending a lot of time watering?

Looking good though. I take it the pic of tomato flowers was for my benefit? :D

My cucumber plant leaves are going/gone white with green veins and curling up at the edges. It is in a shaded greenhouse. Can anyone advise what causes it and what to do with it. TIA

I don't know, if I'm honest. Can you post a pic?

I haven't grown cues for 20 years because I used to have the same problem. I used to grow them in a cold g/house along with toms and treat them both the same but the cues were always a problem with the leaves first of all followed by the whole plant. Sometimes springing back into life but mostly it was final.
