Fay- I also have Jalapenos & Pretty in Purple Chillis (sown at the same time).
I have had exactly the same experience where the Jalapenos are much larger. The pretty in purple seemed to have been small for ages!0 -
The Pretty in Purples should be bulking up a bit, max height is about 18 inches, whereas other chillies can grow to 3ft easily.
Yes, mine are stubbier but branching out more. Expect 60 fruits from a PIP minimum.0 -
I have 18 pretty in purples and 7 are as long as my index finger (can never find a ruler when you want one!) and getting bushy, 6 are 1/2 that and only have 2 sets of leaves and the others are in between, but I'm sure they will al catch up with each other0

I've just measured my pretty in purple! My husband thinks I'm cracking up ha ha 3 of them ate about 2.5 inches high with 10-12 leaves, the other 5 are about half the size. They're all currently in 3 inch pots which I think is big enough? Fingers crossed they will start bulking up soon.0

Look at the size difference between the jalapenos and pretty in purple
They look great, and I'm a bit jealous because I'm way behind you. Don't forget that the Pretty in Purple are a smaller plant overall than the jalapeno - more of a small bush. Last year my Iranian Round looked the same when compared to the P in P - much bigger at the same age. I think you are bang on course.
What's that white stuff in the pots?If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Just to remind you all what you're getting:
So only about a foot tall.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I finally have the very first signs of life from the 40 tomato seeds I planted last weekend. 1 Purple Ukraine is just poking through. :jIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

MBE it's perlite-apparently it helps to keep scarid fly off the chillis, a tip from the chillis galore people.
I've just been out to my greenhouse and I have a few peppers and chillis out there that didn't look like they would do much so I put them in there-and something is eating the peppers:eek: I can't see anything on them (no perlite on these ones, perhaps a mistake?) I'm going to have a look in the bug thread, I think someone said to use a weak solution of washing up liquid in water and spray the plants. I don't want pests in there already. Luckily I have lots of ladybirds in the garden so I might try to 'move' some into the GH.0 -

One of my Pretty in Purple has put in an appearance.
I feel quite relieved that things are starting to move along a bit.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
