I get to see the last pool match, England v Scotland, then the two quarter finals that should have been in Christchurch but are now in Auckland. Then 3 days in Fiji to recover, before coming home.
I can't wait. Can you tell?
After the performance this morning, you'll be lucky to be seeing them in the quarter finals!
I now have 4 (count em, FOUR!) red toms...:D
My pepper plants are interesting me at the mo, as they've flowered, & the stems are developing a purple colour to them. If any fruit appears, I'll bring them indoors. I'm wondering if they will need me to pollinate them?
Hoping we all survive the forecast winds tomorrow:eek:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

:shhh: !
Actually, Argentina were the stiffest opposition we're likely to face in the pools. Scotland could beat us, but I think I'm safe in saying Georgia and Romania won't.lemonjelly wrote: »I now have 4 (count em, FOUR!) red toms...:D
Four eh? It's all good - they'll encourage the others. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

Good luck getting past South Africa, Fiji and Samoa in the pools. And if you do get through you'll probably be all broken. :whistle:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I'm glad to see Wales are doing better than my tomatoes. Local tomato-expert came to see them and laughed. Suggest that I pick them and make chutney. Am pleased that there are more than I thought (will post photo if I can), and have learnt enough to want to have another go next year.0

More disasters! I just keep killing everything with blood and bone- why do I keep doing it?!
My summer squash are doing terrible, after 6 weeks one had a few flowers then I watered with loads of the blood and bone and both wilted a bit and most leaves on the smaller plant dropped off, put outside and now 10 weeks old they are only just recovering and have a few buds on them but no more flowers.
Peppers are awful, also 10 weeks old. They were starting to get flowers but seemed a bit young so I decided to pinch them off when I spotted some aphids. I tried spraying with soapy water but they just keep coming back double and the soapy water seems to be killing the leaves.
Too much blood and bone in water also killed off my little cucumbers and spaghetti squash plants (both were only a few weeks old) and I have obviously put too much in the soil I'm trying to grow broccoletto in as NOTHING will germinate in it!!
It's such a disaster but I can't bring myself to chuck the peppers and squash.
There is some good news, the pumpkin is growing really well. The vine is easily six foot and it has a few female flowers beginning to grow.
My swiss chard, pak choi and perpetual spinach germinated and doing okay so far. These are my last attempt for the year so I will not be letting that blood and bone anywhere near them!!
Cherry tomatoes are really tasty (no idea of variety they were ones I was munching on) and still flowering.
I can't wait for next year now to try again!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -

Well, yes, there might have been a small amount of preparation going on.
Good show by Wales - SA just seem to be a bogey team for them. The last 4 meetings have had a margin of 5 points or less.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

I have to say I under-feed most things. I just forget.
My tomatoes have been fed about 4 times this year. I eventually remembered to put some chicken manure pellets on the cauliflower. I used some BFB by my runners when they were planted out. At the beginning of the season, fearing that I'd done no manuring over winter, I chucked a few handfuls of pellets about.
That's the lot really. Seems to have worked. If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I've cancelled my order for the apple tree. I've been given loads of apples this year - and I'm certain to have plenty next year too. What do I need with any more?
So I've ordered a pear tree instead - haven't seen a single one this year. I've gone for a Willams Bon Chretien 2-year cordon on a quince C rootstock. I hope that was a good idea.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0
