tomatoes aren't doing too well. Those outside are short and dumpy, the one inside is tall and spindly.

Just on strawberries - can you pick them when they are pink rather than red and leave them on the windowsill? We've got some that are nearly ready but are going away for the weekend.

I always pick strawberries as soon as they have a bit of red on them otherwise the slugs get them! The go ripe within a day or two on a sunny windowsill

brilliant - thanks!! Is it OK to pick them if they are mostly white, and just have a tiny pinky bit?

That's what I do - if they are mostly white they may take 2 days to go red and then you need to eat them as they go soft very quickly.

Very nice John. I'll be back on Sunday with some updates - good progress this week. :)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Started with a new compost bin:

It is of fairly "stout" construction:

Unfortunately, to fit it in I had to move the old one about 10" to the left. Which was a pain. Still, it probably needed turning. :p

Just 4 screws to remove the top part of the front, and another 2 to take the front off completely.

Put up some trellis, and fashioned a wind break to stop the wind whistling round the greenhouse:
