Rain dances are for summoning rain, not prancing around in it.
Although given the lack of it recently, you can be forgiven.
Might soften up the ground at the allotment & make it a bit easier going. How are you progressing? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
entomophilous - I can do big words too you know! Back outside they go then.0

What I did with mine last year was keep them in the greenhouse on windy days, but stick them outside any time it was nice. Worked a treat.

I like the look of this. Is it possible to grow your own bean canes? If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

How large are the troughs and how many in each?
Each plant needs 10" wide pot min, if you look at MBE pots you will get the idea of size required.
I have also found in pass trials I've done that they grow much better if they have their own pot rather than share a large container.
Pot size really does make a difference.0 -
long deep pots, about a metre long. 3 plants in each.
It's a learning curve - I'll be a lot more organised next year I promise! I had a operation recently so haven't been as active as I would have liked. You guys are great - thank you!!0 -

Sorry hadn't noticed the photo link

The trough at the front looks ok but the one at the back looks too small for 3 plants.0 -
I don't think either is big enough really. A grow bag is hardly big enough for 3 plants (I only put 2 in) and those pots don't look anywhere near as big as a grow bag. The thing is, they will survive in there but what you get from them will be greatly reduced over ones that have decent space. Don't forget how they will be fighting each other for nutrients. It's not now but when they get to 3 to 4 ft tall and 18" wide that the problem will be exacerbated.0
