Can I join too? I don't drink tea or coffee but currently drink at least 2 x 330ml cans of diet coke per day - sometimes 3 - at lunch time and break time at work and then "unlimited" glasses at home before/during/after dinner in the evening. At weekends if we haven't opened a bottle of wine, I will think nothing of sitting with a bottle of diet coke by the side of the couch while watching a film. Or if I am in the pub, I drink Vodka with.... guess what? Yup - diet coke! I drink plenty water at work (in between diet coke of course) so by the time I get home I am sort of sick of the sight of it. What do you think would be a reaslistic target? 1 can per day during the week, 1 on a Friday night and 2 on a Saturday and Sunday? That would be 10 per week. Is that still too much?

    Hiya, just spied your thread.

3 years ago I was drinking up to a 2 litre bottle of coke a day, and about 8 cups of tea a day whilst at work. My doctor said that she was surprised i wasn't bouncing off the walls with all that caffeine. So I stopped drinking all coke, and switched to de-caf tea. I had headaches for about 2 weeks and got a bit shaky occaisionally in the first few days.

The strange thing is, I had a sip of someones coke a while back and my tastebuds have obviously changed. I now can't stand the stuff:rotfl:

Good luck with your challenge x

Thankfully I drink caffeine free but yes I can see your point. I'm working on getting to that point. Thanks for the good wishes

Mariemcg I'll add you to the challenge. :D Welcome to the mad house

I had my first coke yesterday since last Friday. I had 2 glasses. I've still got 2 1/2 bottles of my stash left. I am a good girl

I'm going out tonight. Going to drink something else apart from diet coke. Wish me well

How is everyone else going? Been a little quiet on here.
  • Have you given up PopCulture? Or are you going to join us for the challange?

    Oi, stop encouraging them :rotfl:

Ok Lily, shall I put you down for 7 cans and 4 bottles a week? Go for it Lilly ;)

I think I might join the challenge. I wasn't going to, but I stepped on the scale yesterday and realized that I need to make some life changes!

    Hello! Can I join you?

It's not specifically coke I drink but I'm a fizzy juice junkie, it's practically all I drink :o I've started trying to wean myself off the stuff, dropping a can each week. This week it's a rather shocking 3 cans a day! but I'm keeping a jug of diluting juice in the fridge and it's quenching my thirst and I'm finding that I actually like it. I've managed before either weaning myself off the stuff or going cold turkey (not wanting the same intense headaches this time round) and I do really well until I think "I'll just have one" then it all goes back to square one!

So by the 7th Feb I *should* be down to no regular fizzy, just treats and occasional ones :)

You're more than welcome debtbegone, the more the merrier :D
Do you want to be put down to a goal? Have a look at the first post to see what others have put.

I'm well within my allowance for this week. Hoping I can hold out.
  • I suddenly had a good idea yesterday- change the glass I use for my Diet Coke to a smaller one :D
I know it seems obvious, but I always used a huge glass, and filled it to the top. I have now swapped it for one that's probably half the size, but I still am having the same number of glasses per day.

So today I had a 250ml bottle at work, and 2 small glasses, each also 250 ml. Hmm .... 750ml, still too much, but getting there. I know I won't cut out my mid morning Diet Coke, but if I can cut down the others more that would be good.
Maybe next week I'll start using one of my kids' little plastic cups :p

  • Hi all

Not posted since the weekend, which was not good (4 cans one evening and was up half the night as couldn't sleep, not surprisingly).

Since Monday only one can, I think I am better if I don't buy the stuff at all. when its in the house I have to have it!

Thankfully I don't seem to suffer to much with withdrawal etc, so this week only have one can left and going to try really hard not to buy anymore for the whole week!

If successful this will be 2/6 of my target. Might be wishful thinking but going to give it a go. Have stopped having coke available at work and drinking squash, which is ghastly in comparison, but all that there is.

Good luck to all diet coke/caffeine addicts this week on your quests. Lets hope the force is strong this week.

    Thanks :)

Well, I'm weaning myself off at the moment but from the 7th Feb I want to be drinking no more than 3 cans per week. Because it's full sugar I drink it's a major contributing factor to my weight :o

I've "only" had 2 cans today and I'm feeling alright for it, no headaches yet! I've just filled up the jug of squash in the fridge so I'm going to try it out and see if I can manage on that for today :)

OOOO do tell PopCulture, what are you doing with your life? I've been drinking coke as part of a losing weight kick. I've lost 3st. As soon as I stop drinking diet coke it makes it hard to be calorie free on a night out sigh...

Whatever happens Dolly you're not drinking as much as you were. That's a step forward.

I've had 1 2lt bottle since last Friday so I'm rather pleased with that. Still got 2lt before Friday. So I'm coming in under the target. whooooooo hoooooooooooo
