    I've been Money Tipped!
Hope everyone's had a good day!

Just got home expecting to smell the bolognase coming from my slow cooker as soon as I got in...nothing! It's all still raw despite being on low all day :( It's freezing!

I've turned it onto high now and it seems to be heating up...most strange  has anyone else experienced this? (it's only been used about 10 times and is fairly new).

P.S. thank you for all the warm welcomes :o

Trying to live a good life on little money :T
  • Hi b-girl, I would always start the SC on high and turn it down so that its started cooking then left to complete, kind of like boiling and then simmering in a pot. :)

    Hi all,

Just waiting for DH and DS2 to come home from work, they're always late when tea is ready, and early when I'm rushing around like a mad thing  DS1 is eating at his pals house.

Wet day today, but mild.I've been out a good part of the day,as DS1 was going into town to have his hair cut,I took the opp for a lift.Went to Dunelm & Hobbycraft, they had some good reductions ,but i was a good girl and resisted.
Then we went to a factory shop that sells material-he wants me to make a snood (as loved by football players at the mo ;)),but in 'army material' for his friends little boy.I made him 2 just before Christmas, but he left them both at school, and hasnt got them back yet as he's been ill.Anyway we got 1/2 metre of 2 different colourways, and I'm trying to think of something else I can make with what will be left.Bitsy- saw you've got a sewing machine now-I hope you enjoy it as much as me :)

I got 'The takeaway secret' in the post today, can't wait to try some of the things.DS1 seemed interested too.
I've started a new crochet blanket for my nieces baby due in April, might just about finish it by then :rotfl:.

Right ,men are here,so have to go.
JackieG- good luck for when you go back to work, but we'll miss you here through the day :D xx

    Good Evening All

Not much to report today. Feeling ok but tired. Was glad to come home to a nice easy tea - tomato and lentil soup with granary bread, boys loved it as usual. Going to have a nice restful evening after I've finished preparing tomorrows assembly.
Have a lovely evening everyone (((((hugs)))))) to those who need them.

    Hi everyone! :hello:

I'm a newbie to this thread, but there are a few familiar faces I know from elsewhere on forum. :)

I hope you don't mind me joining you!

A little about me - I'm married, no pets or kids, and work full-time. I've joined the frugal living challenge for this year as I need to cut down on spending as DH is losing his job later in the year and we need to prepare for that.

OS things today - brought in HM lunch to work and tonight will be eggs, chips and beans for dinner. Should be a NSD too. Also, been accepted to do a Tesco Home Panel trial of free from pizza bases so that will be a cheap meal when they arrive! :)

I might join the flylady thread one of these days as I really need to get my house organised, but one thing at a time! :o:rotfl:

    Hola!

Another dose of vitamin D for me again today;)

b-girl Anything in a SC must be fully defrosted before you start, any stock added should be boiling too. If you have an Auto setting on your SC then use that which brings it up to boiling and then simmers the rest of the day. If you need to use frozen things, then bring them to the boil, or defrost in the MW before adding.

Fetched the car back from its 2nd service, no problems found, the pollen filter was not available so had to stay with them overnight, but they did ring and check and we had no need of it.

Had chicken with mash and carrots tonight. Enjoyed a chinese last night.

Take care & ((hugs)) & spoons where needed.

    Good evening all,

Welcome to all the newbies, everyone is lovely on here

    Taplady
thanks for the advice, I have been and bought lots of fruit today and so far feeling good. Tea tonight was a bit of a mixture of a chicken and potato salad with a blob of houmous but I really enjoyed it. Slightly suprised I have so many points left but it is only day 2:cool:
I did offer to make a salad for my tall skinny boys but they opted for sausage butties:mad: never gain an ounce just like their father, to be fair they normally eat very healthily but why I am I the only one in our family with the metabolism of a slug (Rant over!!)

Its still raining and never really got light at all today. Roll on spring
