If Empires stores wanted to be abused in this way they WOULD publish these codes on their home page.

You miss the point.
Whether you are their "CERTAIN" customer or not the problem is still the same: you put the code for an item which is on sale or not in the A&W catalogue and their form would accept it (while it should not), and you then get charged, the code you put ignored and the invoice discarded (despite the fact that you were their "CERTAIN" customer to whom they send the code).
It is unlikely to be just an accident that they do it like that.

i got what i ordered and was charged
phoned them up and said that the e-mail they sent back to me said 0000 asked to speak to a supervisor and got the charge taken off!!
i argued that even though it was a sale item it was their mistake sending back that there was nothing to pay
the supervisor agreed

Flobber you say in brackets (WHILE IT SHOULD NOT) meaning people actually know that the code won't work on these items (SALE) so why even bother to try? What in the name of the wee man am I arguing about again? Ha Ha! Can't remember! Losing the plot!
If you are interested (which I know you secretly are!!) I got sale items no bother!! My statement came in today and its at zero.
I got the code through the post.

i got 2 sale orders too, using both codes. i'm an existing customer. they've also sent me one for £10 off a £20 order so i'm going to have a look at christmas pressies now :-)

When a code is posted, you are using it at your own risk as its not there for you, just because the system accepts the code, it doesnt mean its final and you have bagged your self a "freebie"

no it was an innocent glitch, and since it clearly stated that the order needed to be from the autumn winter or xmas book, then everybody should have been expecting to get charged if they didnt meet these t and c, i love a freebie as much as the next person, but unless i am using the code in the way it is intended, i fully expect it to backfire on me, and to be honest, in this case who cares? if it was a case of paying p and p, and also having to pay at the p.o to send stuff back, then i would be a bit miffed, but since p and p is always free with empire and they will send a courier to pick it up, you haven't lost anything. there's loads of codes about for la redoute so why waste your time with empire? if you want something free from empire, pick somthing from the a/w or xmas book, if not stop whinging.
