Broadband drops when home phone rings?

I have had issues with BT lately with a faulty crossed line and incorrect billing etc. but now I have another problem.

When the home phone rings the internet connection drops and the router has to re-connect.
It isn't every time but is at least 4 or 5 times out of ten.

It has been going on for a while now but I was told by BT to sort out the faulty line first and see if it still happened.
Well the crossed line has been sorted but this is still going on.
Before I call BT and get into another debate about who is to blame I thought I'd post on hear for advice first.

Any thoughts welcome!

Have you fitted the broadband filters?

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,

Easy, almost always down to lack of filters, dodgy/defective filters or filters in the wrong place (on all phones AND your router/ADSL modem).

I have a master socket in my office which has a filter out of it, plugged into the filter (modem socket) is the router and (phone socket) fax machine block, into the fax machine block is the sky block, into the sky block is the phone.
    That's it!

I just tried a different filter, dialled the home phone from my mobile, connection dropped. The internet light on the router is the only one that goes off, the broadband, wireless and ethernet lights all stay on.

You have three items filtered by one ADSL filter and adapters.
Try just the router and phone first - does it still disconnect?
Remove each item in turn and test again.
You would be better with a quality master socket faceplate filter.

Tried a third filter, still happens so it's definately not a filter issue.

It's really annoying for my son too as he is playing online on his PS3 and keeps getting signed out!

    Any other suggestions?

I have an XTE-2005 Filtered Master Faceplate from adsl nation, It's still unopened as I new BT were sending an engineer out so didn't want them to see it.
After they fitted a new master socket and line I just assumed it wasn't necessary,
    should I try it?

If you've ruled out filters (which it seems you have) all that remains is a line fault. This is an ADSL fault rather than a voice fault so you'll need to call the ISP rather than BT. Good luck with that - you may well need some.

I would try your XTE-2005. You don't need to worry about BT seeing it either. It will very likely be a much better filter than the ones that you have tried. You could still do more tests e.g. does the ADSL drop when only the modem and phone is connected? It could be a problem with the Sky box.
