If it is the wrong meter/flat combination it might have been like that since the meter was installed.

If new build it will be the developers that fed UU the wrong information.

Happens often with external electricity meters - where is yours!!!!!

This building is 10 years old. I bought the flat in August 2009. I am confused and don't really know what to do.

I wanted to take a photo but it won't work. Sorry! I took my meter reading in the morning and it was actually 03391228. I went in and flashed the toilet then went out again to check the meter and saw 03391275.
I rang UU and booked the appointment. I don't know the date yet.

But the colour of the numbers has now reversed from last night!!!

You were adamant that it was 03391189 and confirmed it was red numbers first.

It also can only be 3 numbers in red

Also if the number changed from 03391228 to 03391275 and you only flushed the toilet, you have used 47 litres which is the equiv to 4 flushes.

Are you sure you are reading the correct meter? Especially since UU have read your meter as 576

Now I am even more confused. I can't see the serial number. It's a problem.

I used to work for a water company.

Your meter seems to be working fine in that you flushed the toilet and took before and after readings, and they appear to coincide nicely. However the black and red thing is clearly worrying and does not match their advice or indeed their own readings as clearly their own meter reader has followed their own advice, but the black readings are never going to match up.
I think the safest thing is to keep taking daily readings if you can bear to lol, and get someone out whilst you can be there and sort it out. Something is not quite right.
My previous comment was based on common sense and experience only lol

    Hope you get it sorted!

Is it red first or black ? you need to clear that up firstly.

Not really sure anyone can offer any real help now other then wait for UU to visit and see what they say.

So why were you insistent that it was red followed by black?
