I have just had a reply:Thank you for taking the time to email me in regards to the recent changes in line with our Fair Use Policy. I am sorry you are unhappy with the changes.
Reducing your fair use policy will enable us to enhance you existing service when accessing the internet by reducing network data traffic. I am delighted to tell you that you will still get unlimited internet browsing. If you would like to use the internet for downloading, and require additional usage, you can buy a booster from us for £12.77/mth. We are still the only network that does not charge run on rates and our boosters are priced competitively.
If you want to watch TV, online videos or download files, you can take advantage of your handset's WiFi feature to connect to the internet. This means that if you have wireless broadband at home, or you are in a public place with wireless internet access, you can go online this way where the experience will be better and the speeds faster. If your handset does not have WiFi then you can use your home broadband connection on your pc or laptop.
I am sorry, but the change to our fair use policy does not mean you can get out of your contract with us. We have give you reasonable notice that our fair use policy is changing and remember that you will always be able to browse the internet and use email and never get charged more than you agree to.
Thank you again for your email.
Gobsmacked...TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
I've just registered on this forum because of this thread.
I phoned up t-mobile on 150, pressed 2 to go through to cancellations, and said:
1. "I've heard the news about the 500Mb change" - he confirmed it was changing in February.
2. "I've checked my contract terms and the 'what it costs' booklet - it mentions the 1GB and 3GB limits." The booklet is described in the terms as describing your 'price plan'. Not exactly watertight but thought it wouldn't hurt.
3. Because my contract was changing and this would be a problem for me I wanted to cancel without a fee unless I could be put up to 3GB limit permanently.
With very little resistance he said looking at my account I was on the 1GB limit at the moment (which I didn't know, I thought I was on 3GB) and he can put me up to 3GB. He confirmed that this would still apply after February.

Gobsmacked...
when have they given you notice??!
i have 2 lines with them, both with the web and walk plus and i havnt recieved any txts?
have they even given any of their customers notice? they are informing 1 in a million customers and will only tell the rest when they notice they cant download next month and then will say 'our t&c's have changed!
it is outrageous that tmobile are saying we cant get out of our contracts because of a change of the fair usage policy, where do we stand?
also lets get some more clarification, please write on your post if you have the 1gb or 3gb,

I have an Andrioid Phone, Samsung Galaxy S... Got my 1st YES FIRST T-mobile bill 3 days ago... I am mightly mightly !!!!ed off with the way this has been done.
I selected T-mobile because an andrioid phone opens up loads of possibilities and chose them because of their superior data rate. I get poorer signal strength than I did on O2.. but chose this becuse i could use the phone to its fullest.
My tariff is shown as the following 600 mins, 500 texts and unlimited internet.
I originally had to ring T-mobile 4 times to get them to upgrade my data download rate (which was capped at 360kb/sec!!!) to the full HDSPA rate (1.5mbps to 2mbps).. On the phone the guy said he had to turn on Web and Walk + for me... but this doesn't shown in my billing information.
I was pretty content until reading all this... which from my side seems to trap me for the next 2 years with rubbish signal and sub-par download cap... So any tips when i ring them to confirm whether this affects me or not?
I haven't had a text yet.. but the download cap was the discriminator for me to chose the contract... and feel miffed the rug has been pulled from under me.
How many days have you had it?
If less than 7 and bought by phone or internet, exercise Distance Selling Rights on it and return ASAP.0 -
To get some idea of how many people have and havent received the notice and what FUP they are currently on I have started a poll Poll Thread
Mine is already on there. Just go on and click whick one applies to you.0 -
It will come as no surprise to most here, that the T-Mobile store I visited had no idea about the changes. Either that or they've been told to keep quiet!0

Ive just contacted the store where I got my phone on the back of this and the manager says he has no knowledge of changes to the FUP.
Simply dont know whether to believe him or not. I mentioned the text on the T-Mobile website. He suggested in future I ring CS with any issues like this. Sounded a bit like a fob off.0
