Barry B, mickey taking and all the problems we've experienced aside, if you look at the very first message in this thread, it's turned out to be true - signing up for a 3 year deal is not cost effective this day and age. The cost of broadband rental comes down each year. The 'free' computer (if that's still the offer) is obsolete after 12 months. There are much better deals to be had and at the end of the day fatcat is just the finance company, Clode, trying to minimise their losses. Personally I sent the 'notice before action' letters etc. during the dark period with Redten and found the customer service to be appalling from both parties. However I've not had the opportunity to go to court: since Clode took over - as I am a fairly low user - I've not experienced any drop in service or imposed speed restriction (unlike numerous other customers who use the internet a lot more than me - read the thread!!) so for me the contract appears to have been restored. But I would never dream of signing up to a deal like this again. In fact, if you are genuine, I am surprised they are advertising for new customers. It doesn't make sense. Clode should just see out the remaining contracts. It's not a viable business - it's almost a form of pyramd selling, relying on new customers to fund the existing customer's computers and broadband rental. It only works with an infinite supply of new customers.

I rang Fatcat, they answered the phone answered my questions and said they would try and help me wherever possible. They were polite and helpful. So despite the comments made about my sanity, I think people should not judge them until they have put them to the test!
I'm am now even more determined than before to sign when I can.

How can you morally justify giving business to a company that blatently breaches laws and regulations, knowing full well that the toothless government quangos won't do anything about it.They treated Redten customers like !!!!! and will no doubt do the same to you. You have been warned!

Barry, you are either a total buffoon as you haven't read through the 6000+ posts about these clowns or you are just a Troll?

Fatcat is pure and simply a finance company namely Clode run by finance savvy staff, they know zip all all about running a successful Internet Service Providing business as they are NOT an ISP, they have zero connections to the internet FACT!

Fatcat is a virtual ISP running on the back of the NJP/Breathe network which itself then sits on the Murphx backbone provided by BT Wholesale. FACT!

Fatcat's own use broadband lines aren't provided by Fatcat or NJP/Breathe as they know all to well they are provided by Virgin FACT!

I could go on & on about what they can NEVER provide you with, so by all means sign up matey!

Hiya to everyone else, sorry for not contributing recently but Fat-Idiots haven't got a pheking clue (No breaking news there then!) as Breathe severed my ADSL line early last week, so I'm back on dialup  but at least I'm away from these bumbling muppets.:j

Just signed up with Aquiss, 330GB p/m for £24, get this only a 1 month contract which you only pay for after been supplied it and if you do get a crap service they don't charge you at all..sweet! Well worth checking out.

Glad to hear more have managed to get out, keep up the good work

    Well done, Hugo_Rune;

Glad to hear you are free at last from the highjackers. It sounds like a good deal you've got with Aquiss, good company that does not demand payment up front and a tied contract. Means you can vote with your feet so they have to provide decent service to entice you to stay.

Have you got away from the Clods yet or have they still to respond to court pressure?

Keep after them if not, you know it makes sense.

    Well done again!!!!!

thanks Kevindowns for the very useful information--I predicted June 30 but only one month out. It is just a pity that it will not cost them for the misery they caused.

Well said that man, glad you have escaped, and a big thank you to BarryB the forum was getting far too quiet, and it is nice to know Clode are still showing an interest in our now much happier band of ex and soon to be ex customers.
What was that song years ago "They're coming to take me away ha ha hee hee ho ho" sort of fits the situation.
I have changed my mind, I think we should now feed the Trolls, it brightens the day.
Good to see so many of you still around.

  • I have read quite a few posts on this forum.
I did find the Comical Ali post amusing, although from my own experience not acurate. I can only speak of my own experience at the end of the day. Redten I believe are no more, if the posts on here are acurate? If they are then although from the posts many people have had a terrible service from Redten, and that is really bad. I had many months of stress from BT in fact 6 months. I have had countless hours of stress from Virgin. So if I just go on the customer service aspect of Fatcat, they are a million times better. As to their broadband service, I haven't had it yet so I can't comment. I notice also from this forum, that unlike most if not all, Fatcat don't use any Premium Rate No's such as 090 for Technical Support, so this should show to people that they not after your money when you need help. Most if not all including Virgin charge a premium unless this has changed recently.
These are the facts as I see them.

Believe what you read, start at number 0001 and go right through the list, we cannot all be exaggerating, and once again if Clode ( I suspect with the help of ex Redten staff ) give you half the grief that they have given the rest of us, reading the posts will be a piece of cake against trying to get out of a bad contract. I hasten to add that I do not know that redten staff are still involved in the fatcat service, but it has to be redten or NJP running the show as Clode (fatcat) are a finance company!

One thing I am certain of is that Fatcat will have more get out of Jail free clauses in their T&Cs than Waddingtons have in their monopoly factory.

Customer service at fatcat I cannot fairly comment on as I have had no dealings with them, nor will I have, but if Clode are anything to go by, you will be assured of the people who are conveniently out to lunch / not in today / not at their desk / in a meeting / and every other platitude for plebs you can think of, will call you back as soon as they return. Yeah right!!! Their customer service stank, the only positive side was they did answer the phone, didn't get you anywhere but they did answer the phone.

Finally I can assure you that 0845 and 0870 numbers add up to large sums when things go belly up, most of us I think on this forum spent upwards of £50 on phone calls trying to sort the mess, mine was closer to £70.

There are loads of half decent companies out there, so unless you are a very light user who doesn't mind paying over the odds for a mediocre service from a third party reseller of internet bandwidth, namely Breath/NJP/fast24/Murphx or whatever alias they are currently marketing themselves under, I would do a lot of research first, look at reviews of ISP's on Google.

However please don't let me put you off, why should the long suffering on this forum be the only ones to suffer? Forum threads do not reach the 6000s without there being a major problem.

Good Luck with whatever you decide.
