I have had a letter from njp saying that can not give me a mac code BUT THEY can move me over to FAST4. Forgive for being thick but don't they need a MAC CODE to do that.

They don't need a MAC to move you from Redten to Fast4, as they are the backbone provider. You'd be changing virtual ISPs/Resellers, rather than actual ISPs. The backbone provider remains the same. Redten is an NJP reseller, not an ISP in its own right.

I just went through the order process with Fast4 and it says 24mb is available to me.

No it isnt. Guarentee it. My exchange is still in the dark ages :)

How do these people get away with it.

I have telephoned clode. They now advised me to put clode funding ltd on my court forms.

I guess I'll put Clode funding Ltd a Division of Clode Retail Finance as they operate from the same address. I don't need any more BS!

Now my forms and documents are all together I shall take them to the courts.

I also put down costs of the Redten uplift fee of £150 and data transfer and secure data wipe at £58.98. I have explained these costs will happen if i'm required to return "FREE PC" and these cost will only arise if my claim is granted.

Clode Funding are not a division of Clode Retail Finance Ltd, If I were you I would put them on the form as two separate defendants. Let the court decide which one is to blame for the whole mess

    Here's an interesting thought.

Now we are at the court stage and Redten are unlikely to respond to the claim, ultimately we will all get CCJ's against them, but the next step is to execute a warrant to get some money back. So maybe the lack of response from Redten is a good thing - if the warrants are executed we could get our money back that way?

Gnipper, I have done just that. They failed to defend my initial claim for return of my deposit, so I have executed a warrant (another £35, but I'm determined to take this as far as I can, and if it helps sink Redten once and for all, I will regard it as money well spent!) Will let you know if I hear anything further.

    Nice one Kari.

My judgement can be entered on 1/6 so ill execute not long after.

Still battering Clode at the moment - applying to amend the defendents name is strangely complicated and the number or forms you have to complete is a nightmare. Why cant anything be simple.

Nope apparently not, I had the very same discussion with them last week or maybe monday, and was told that as they already have the tag, and they are just doing us a favour. I was informed that they would move me and then inform redten that at the customers request due to bad customer relations with redten, they had moved me to their service. I suggested that they give me my Mac code and tell redten exactly the same, but was informed that that would be unethical. Yeah right as if anyone we are dealing with worries about ethics, unless of course ethics is a euphemism for profit!! , and we went round and round the houses, so in the end I bade him a fond farewell and reported it to OFCOM.
So now you know, as long as you have the tag you are allowed to do anything. :rotfl:

I paid for 3yrs upfront with a credit card. While I am letting trading standards chase Redten on my behalf, they reminded me this week that I ought to keep the credit card company informed asap for the (likely) event that Redten fold/fail to respond.
Thought I'd pass this advice on in case anyone else is in a similar position.

Like some of you, I also took a call from Tower Hamlets TS this week collecting info for OFCOM.
