http://www.computeractive.co.uk/computeractive/news/2211754/bt-cuts-redten-lines-non put ur comments against this article at computer active. the more negative publicity they get the better.

I've just posted this on Computeractives site, not sure if they'll publish it though!

" I've had no response from either Redten or their financial partner Clode to my recorded delivery letters of complaint. They appear to have infringed consumer, data protection and financial law not to mention breach of contract. I shall be speaking to a legal advisor next week with a view to suing them for breach of contract. "icon9.gif

Only thing I can ever remember receiving from Redten after joining in Nov 2006 was the email below posted 06.03.2008

Dear Jack Parkinson

Please be aware that Redten Internet will be carrying out major techincal work on the Email system as well as changing its backbone provider to offer the new download speeds of upto 24Mb. This will automatically be made available to you at no extra cost and is dependant on your connection to the local exchanges that have been upgraded.

It is critical that you backup any mail that is stored on the Redten Internet email servers. Please complete this task within the next 24 hours.

Any email left on the servers after this time will be lost permanently and unrecoverable.

Apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Yours sincerely

Nust have been in a rush to get that out as well as they seem to have forgotten to spell check it. LOL

No other communication to me personally that I can remember and precious little online either.
:rolleyes:

You're lucky, I did not even get that. Tough cooky if you were away for the day/3 day break/holiday/shiftworker/hospital/ --just as well I never relied on the redten email system.

Ref the argument as to 'membership' of NJP Services on their My Account page for each of us. Surely we are new members to NJP not old, having been transferred to them (without our knowledge/agreement) very recently. The T&C's published there for 'new' members therefore are meant to apply to us.

Now THAT really is news to me!!

Redten didn't send me anything at all the ONLY correspondence I've received thus far from them since the initial emails is the back dated NJP letter
As neither Clode nor Redten have notified me in writing that anything has changed from our original contract, then as far as I'm concerned the original Nov06 Redten T&Cs still stand and so to does Redten's provision of supplying me an Unlimited bandwidth ADSL line care of BT Wholesale.
Severing my ADSL line without notice broke OUR contract
'Slamming' me over to another provider broke OUR contract
Restricting my Unlimited service broke OUR contract
This list goes on and on and on.

6. Use Of The Service
6.1 You shall not use the Service:
(a) in a way that does not comply with the terms of any legislation or any licence applicable to you or that is in any way unlawful or fraudulent or has any unlawful or fraudulent purpose or effect;
(b) without prejudice to the generality of (a) above, in connection with the carrying out of a fraud or criminal offence against Redten Internet and/or its agents (including BT), or any public telecommunications operator;
(c) to send, knowingly receive, upload, download, use or re-use any material which is abusive, indecent, defamatory, obscene or menacing, or in breach of any copyright, confidence, privacy or any other rights;
(d) to send or procure the sending of any unsolicited advertising or promotional material;
(e) in a way that does not comply with any instructions Redten Internet or its agents (including BT) has given under Clauses 5.1 and 5.5;
(f) in a way that in BT's reasonable opinion could materially affect the quality of any telecommunications service, including the Service, provided by Redten Internet;
(g) to store more than 10MB of email or 100 emails on your Redten Internet email account;
(h) to send emails with attachments greater than 5MB in size.

I will unwittingly fall foul of T&C 6.1(g) above. One of the side issues of being with Redten is the unrelenting deluge of spam that comes my way, and particularly since my email facility came back on a week ago. I am swamped with 200+ every 24 hours or so and have to empty the Spam Folder daily. When the email facility did resume it initially downloaded exactly 500 emails, on two occasions, in each case Sall but 20 of which were spam. It seems then that the 500 is now to be reduced to 100

No, millydo, we are the oldies--our terms are supposed to be on the my account page on redten site as they want to pretend we are still redten customers. In a way we still are but redten have handed us over to NJP who will do all the operational requirements of an ISP while b gulzar, and his team of merry men and women concentrate on selling to more suckers like us. ---But we have woken up !!!

Fortunately for us and unfortunately for them, we have our own original terms and conditions;
