Just a touch of humour here but this makes more sense than the better known Redten

    Who cares ??

A lot of the posts on here are from users signed up through Clode.
I paid upfront in Nov 06 for the full 3 years . On advice from Consumer Direct, I have sent letters to RT and NJP detailing breaches of contract, rejecting new T&Cs and given them 14 days (until 14 Apr) to respond. If, as I expect, they don't, my next step will be to approach the credit card company that processed my payment.
Just interested to hear how anyone else who paid upfront is tackliing this and if my route seems sensible.
[Btw, huge thank you to everyone that's posting on this thread :T]

Is that the first letters, you've sent bebause if you have sent some already claiming breach of contract: you can get your credit card company on it now--as long as you can show them you've written to them claiming breach of contract and asking for your money back.

Think I've found some errors in the user manual there:
"Currently REDTEN is at version v4.0, and is continuing to evolve. Many improvements have been made in the past few years, and the kernel of the system has reached a relatively stable configuration. It is hoped that REDTEN will soon become ... more widely available."
  • OK Folks --just phoned red ten and spoke to Paul who first of all said he would give me one ( a mac code that is ) then kept me on the phone for 26mins while he dashed backwards and forwards 6 inches from the phone while he asked the " bossman " what to do.

Wanted to discuss my terms and conditions, and wanted to know which version I had!!!!, that i owe them if I was cancelling---said noooo --they had cancelled but was not discussing it with him on the phone as I had written to his masters and expected a written reply .....

Said I was only on the phone to get my mac code as they had now had 5 days....and were required to give it to me. ( the mac code that is )

He asked if clode had released me from my agreement and I said that had nothing to do with him as redten had been paid up front over 700 and then he said I had to speak to clode cause if they did not release me.......interlude ----please release me let me go cause I dont want you anymore........interlude they would go after redten for the money. (( more emails to clode !!!! ))

I asked again politely but firmly, assertive its called, for my mac code and if he did not give me it when I had requested it in 8 separate occasions I would complain again to OFCOM.

He tried to get me to say I was cancelling and would return their PC cause if I didn't clode would come after them for the money.

I firmly rejected any discussion about my free PC other than to tell him that and was he giving me the code or not.

He then amazingly finally agreed he was refusing to give me a mac code.

So ofcom have been informed of this blow for blow.........they have written to redten about this and think they're now going to arrive in a dark van mob handed.

That means I now need to spend the week end finishing a pleading for small claims, so I am ready to lodge it., next week when I have an update.

    hi all
i signed up with redten february 2007
had great service untill the walled garden appeared and on that day i tried to contact redten ...no answer....so i spoke to clode who said they were as much in the dark as me
so i rang bt and did as the walled garden sujested and ordered bt broadband using the mac code
my bt connection went through by the friday and have been getting a much faster broadband than redten (was about 1.4mg now about 3mg)
last thursday i sent letters and e-mails to clode and redten asking for a solution to me no longer reciving the service im paying for through no fault of my own
and that after taking legal advice my actions were perfectly reasonable given the information i had at the time
i havnt heard anything yet from redten or clode
i feel for all those that have been burdened with such a terrible internet connection and consider myself lucky to only have the problem of getting the finnance agreement ended

I'm not handing over a penny. Colde DD still active tho. I'm, waiting for a responce to my lirst letter. Send letter states what I want. Third letter will include a Final Settlement statement. Fourth Letter will include a copy of the small claims document forwarded to the courts.

I will use my 30 days to the full. 30 days for sending 3 recorded letters. The courts require that you try to settle the matter first. I dont think we'll get anywhere without the courts.

Always keep copies of letters to and from colode/redten. All recorded letter docs from the post office.

Always print of the registered post form from the post office.

Its evidence you have tried to do something without going to court.

I agree, my next letter to clode, for them early next week, will state exactly what I will be claiming them for.

I have kept all receoipts of phone calls, recorded deliveries, etc etc and these will be added to the claim and the cost of lodging a small claim 32.50 plus 8% interest until it is paid. As I have now paid over half of the "" loan " I am in a good position anyway.

Clode will get one more chance then I lodge the claim. It is nearly a month since since this debacle began and the companies have had enough time as you can see from my post to agree their strategy.

My choices of alternatives are limited by my location so if it costs me more to get the system elsewhere, then clode and redten will be liable for that also.

If I a going to court, I shall leave nothing out.

I am a little grumpy now my recorded letters to Clode have been accepted but none have been accepted at redten, I shouldn't be surprised by I am.

I will send another set - to the registered London address as well as the address registered on the website.
If they do not accept either - I still have proof of posting, but I am unsure of what the smallclaims court will say.

I got My BT Order comfirmation today.

Its starts off by saying. Thanks for staying with us and for letting us know you move house!

It seems with out a MAC an "internal House Move" is the only option to switch broadband from redten to BT.

I'll keep you all posted on my move to BT without a MAC.

It should all happen on tuesday!

How much of your 15GB have you used so far guys I've used 2.2GB! SO i guess it will take me 15 (ish) days to use 15GB. And then I'll be back to speeds of 14.4K

Please post your usage to date!

just called Clode for an update and despite him admitting that I'm paying them to pay RedTen to deliver a service denied that it had anything to do with them if the service wasn't as it should be..... quoted various breaches of contract and consumer credit act to no avail
He advised me to put my complaint in writing, guess what I've done that and it hasn't had any response.

Will these guys never put there hand up and say yes were in the wrong and we are trying to sort it.
On the plus side he did give me a settlement figure so I have something for the courts now.
