for 65 pence? Don't talk rot

they willingly refunded 45p already; I believe the other call is an oversight.

edit - that's sorted in a less than 2 minute call. Perhaps a rather less confrontational approach is more successful

Zenscara, maybe the O2 tariffs are changing from them being included to not included. I'd assume that existing tariffs will stay as they are.

Try a couple of short calls and wait for your next bill - that will confirm it better than any confusion by calling CS

Well I guess, but my online bill shows they're bundled... just living in fear of one day making a 2 hour call and discovering they changed the rules!!

Sometimes you have to take risks with these things. Making a couple of short calls as andy88 suggested is your best bet.

Also I don't think it's a good idea to keep alerting 02 as they could officially start charging for 0844 numbers. I think this was discussed earlier in the thread regarding Simply Fone. As you've experienced first-hand it's impossible to get a definitive answer from them, so just experiment yourself.

I don't think they will change existing tariffs. I suppose after the Orange changes to 07744 numbers we're inclined to a little paranoia, but O2 have known all along about 0844 numbers pricing, whereas the 07744 story was a grey area from the start.
  • 07744 was a secondary thing for me,after I thought 0844 numbers weren't included in o2 tariffs anymore. I think I am perfectly entitled to ask in a shop before I buy something if they include 0844 when their documentation actually explicitly states 0870/0845 are included. It's not like they don't know other companies don't bundle these, even their online tariffs don't, but apparently that's because they are two separate companies under o2's umbrella. I have only been asking perfectly normal questions, the 0844 thing is hardly as secretive a scam thing as 07744.
  • Not free - but useful if you have had your mobile credits guzzled in minutes like I have when I was called from the UK when on holday in Spain.
https://www.0044.co.uk offers sim cards of the country you are visitng to offer more sensible prices for calls you make & receive.

Did you use the number ending in 363? I tried (just now) to check with my o2 phone and 07744 974363 still works.

On another note... has anyone else noticed anything weird about trying to access the same service from different types of phone? When I call a particular 0844 service from the landline I get (8/10 times) 'due to capacity reasons, blah blah' and it won't work. But the next second when I try from my mobile it DOES work!?! Is there some techno reason for this?!
