It is their loss. He obviously respects you but is a cheapskate not to have put anything in writing via a contract. A weak boss leaving it for newbies to be bullied by a known bully. See how you feel tomorrow. Bullies like her don't change. Her language is completely unacceptable. How the hell does she think she will get away with it? If you decide to stay on do what i said in the PM. Honestly and she will be gone within a week.

A victory for you, it is something you like doing. But you can bet she will lie her head off in the meeting tomorrow dont be surprised. do what i said if you decide to stay on and the problem will have to be addressed. I hate this. Life is too short for carp like this. Why?

Big hug. If you can write down dates, what was said. have any customers heard her? any of the staff? just naming them will scare the pants off her. what a cow. I am so angry. I hope you are drinking lots of tea. I am off to make a stew and will drink tea to calm me down. Can you message Angel she will have tips? She has a chest infection but is mobile and posted last night and is making her place cosy after the move.

  • Hi SA.

Sorry to hear about the issues you have had today...hope you are not going over & over it in your head....just try & relax & it will get sorted. You are strong & have handled more that this over the last few years.

Here is the link to ACAS where there is loads of advice & a helpline if you need to check your employee rights....hope it helps.

Last year I actually walked out of a job too. I really hated though & never went back.... but I felt strangely empowered by the experience & that was the turning point in my life where I took back `control`.

Good luck tomorrow....pm if you need a chat.

Thanks guys, having a couple of computer problems - it is running very slowly so no time to post too much. I appreciate your kind words, I really do. Let's see what today brings. I agree with the empowering feeling it can give you. There is only so much carp that a person should have to put up with.
I think the Andy Gray thing has proved that SOME employers will not put up with any nonsense. Funnily enough, I was only saying yesterday that my previous employers would never have accepted this behaviour. Know who they were? - SKY.....
Great employers, great employment policies and great staff communication.

Summary of my day so far....

    9.50am Arrived at work

    9.55am Summoned to the boardroom

    10.00am Fired :(

I thought this might happen. It sort of fits in with the other carp that has been going on over the last 3 months. I have had absolutely nothing from them in writing - job offer, job description, terms and conditions - so it isn't a great surprise, but a kick in the teeth nonetheless.
So here I am, mid 50's, submerged in self doubts with self esteem on the minus scales now. I actually think I am unemployable.

I just find it so hard to get on with certain "types" of people. People that like me, think the world of me. People that don't, really, really don't. This is one of those cases. the young girl in the office has said that she cannot work with me (for all of the 13.5hrs that I do a week) and the boss says he had no choice but to let me go.

Not sure what to think or feel at the moment.

You are worth so much more than this experience is making you feel. It is so much more a reflection on them than it is on you. Not yet, but one day you will look back and see what a blessing it is that you have left this job. It is not true that you are unemployable, even though it feels it right now. Allow yourself to mourn, be upset and be angry - but give this a time limit. Then sit down and write all the positive things you know about yourself. They are true and they are what matter. Write the names of the people that think the world of you - there are several on this page as a start.
    "Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.

SA, I am so sorry it has come to this for you, some people are just unbelievable. I know it is easy to say, but please try and keep your spirits up and hopefully some better employment will come along for you.

put me down on your list as a positive. Probably not going to be around much but PM me if you want to chat, and I will try to catch up with you.

Make a list of what you are good at, what makes you employable and then take a look around at what is on offer. As my Fiance's Nan used to say, as one door closes, another opens. close the chapter on that book and start a fresh one.

Is it worth looking at ACAS website and asking their advice about sacking you without any contract, terms and conditions, etc? Maybe worth compensation, I don't think you would want to go back to that job.
