Thanks to you all, you are so sweet.

I have rung ACAS but I knew what the answers were already as I studied employment law as part of an Office Administration course.

They do not have to provide ANYTHING in writing except for a Statement of Particulars which should be given after 2 months of employment. That sets out terms and conditions of my employment. Even contracts can be verbal. However, they do owe me notice and outstanding holiday pay. I also have a Right to Appeal which is basically a letter stating why I think the decision was unfair. But there are no forms of redress. You have to be employed for a year before you can seek Unfair Dismissal. I do think that this was a factor in me being fired.
The other girl has been there over a year, and has just announced she is pregnant, so it would have been a real can of worms it they had done anything to her I feel.
I do think that a more modern, well run company would have treated it as a grievance and any neccessary warnings issued with a general "sort yourselves out" message. They have just taken the easiest and quickest way out in my opinion.
I don't want you all to dwell on this. It is just a stark reminder that it can be one step forward and two back for many of us. Life is never easy, is it?
    Hugs

Hi everyone, especially the new posters, many thanks for looking and being nice to me :o

I have just got back from the Jobcentre. It is a 30 mile round trip and I have to go back TOMORROW to sign on. This happened to me last time as well, I just don't get it. I can't believe they can't change the system so that you go for the initial interview, sign on, and then go back in a fortnight. If there are any discrepancies in the claim or they need futher info, by all means call the claimant back in, but if it is straightforward why am I making this journey 2 days in a row?

I have become more philosophical about the firing - I didn't particularly enjoy it there, it was so old fashioned. I may be ancient but I am not an old fogey :( so I suppose it was for the best. Another blip in my long blipping history.

I have just got to work out my finances on paper to make sure that i get through the next couple of weeks before the JSA comes through. Too easy to spend a bit more one day and then not have enough to get through the fortnight.

It isn't the end of the world, it just felt like it briefly. I have a lovely comfy flat, my little dog and relatively sound in mind and body. That is a great deal more than many poor unfortunate people and I must remember that.

I really do appreciate all of your support. Thanks to you all.

I shall be watching Kidnap and Ransom, or whatever it's called. You can eat my slice, sw. I think I might have an egg and bacon sandwich with brown sauce for my tea. More comfort food.
