When someone leaves a group to make themselves look good bullies try to justify their decisions one of the methods they can use to do this is by talking codswallop. Flotsam and jetsam that's all they are. Leave them to it. We are all proud to know you, i bet the customers do miss you very much which is why they have been fed this rubbish. Has anyone justified why you were sworn at by smellypants? Why when she is a known bully they still took her side? why your boss was a coward? There is no justification, especially when we know you did nothing wrong. That's all it is. You walk with your head held high. They are old news and people like that get their comeuppance anyway, by then you will have moved on and will be happy. I am glad you are no longer there. They sound like really unhealthy and malicious people. You are safe here, with counselling you will see you dont need their opinons to validate your sense of self. You are ten times the person any of them ever will be.
Like Wordsmith i can see you are going through a cycle. After something like this one feels a sense of disbelief, shock, hurt, (and boy it does hurt but only for a while), then you move on, start communicating, gaining confidence, stop doubting yourself, see the idiots for what they are and also that life is a test. A series of ups and downs and you will make it. I can't think of a single reason why you wont. You are wonderful.
Love you lots, off to work, back at 6pmish. Do nice things, you have done nothing wrong. AT ALL.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
Wordsmith - I think you and my psychologist went to the same school of thought.. When I asked him last week "Why do I fall out with people" - he corrected me and said "SOME people" and he is right, it is certain types that either don't get me or me them, I don't know which. Thankyou for your kind post and you are so right in that there are people who this sort of thing doesn't affect and cant see what all the fuss is about. I just get so hurt deep down.
sw - Thanks as usual for being a sweetie. I think I just need a bit of time out. I need to regroup. I will see my GP though, she is so good.
Dog update,
I saw one of the other vets today, our regular guy is running a marathon in Marrakesh (as you do) - this one is older and has a sort of "been there, done that, and certainly seen it all before" manner. He wasn't fazed by MrT at all. He popped a muzzle on, and with me holding the dog in a bear hug, looked in both his ears and clipped his nails!!!!! He says he has hooked nails so they automatically grow underneath his paws. But, he used a sort of slicer to clip them in one go and not the normal crushers which can be painful. I don't think MrT had time to think about kicking off....He has given me some drops which are a topical steroid for his ears and I can put them in on a piece of cotton wool or even the end of my finger (with gloves on). Total cost £35.. result :T I had £65 on me which is my insurance excess but didn't need it and have now got £30 left over.
The dog is fast asleep in his bed after all that trauma and I am chuffed. I will ask to see him again, defo, he had such a way with the little beast.
I came home to find a man from the council up a ladder cleaning out the gutters. This is great because there is a big sycamore tree, council owned, right next door to my flat and when the leaves drop they cause havoc. Nice of the council to organise that and give me a bit of value for the £800 community tax.
Anyway, off to feed the ducks and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. The ffreezer is arriving between 2 and 5 and then off to my meeting. I shall sleep well tonight, I hope.
I haven't even told you about the singles dinner on Saturday night. I will save that for another time not that there is much to say
Hugs

Brilliant news about the vet, the tenants association and the gutters being cleaned and I agree with others, the people left at your old job are trying to make themselves look whiter than white and now you are no longer there they can blame everything on you , you will soon find a place where you are appreciated so stuff 'em!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Thankyou for that.
Back from duck feeding, dog walking and sweeping up after the gutter man. He may have cleared the gutters but he left it all behind as he moved on to the next house! Men!!!!
Anyway, nice sunny day so it did me good to do a bit of garden tidying. Morrisons have got compost on offer already - Spring must be around the corner.
It is a good job I am vigilant - I bought a few bits today and thought the bill was high and when I checked the receipt I had been charged £3.90 for a piece of cheese.... gulp. It was on offer at £1.90 but when I queried it it seems the offer ended yesterday. I got the £2 back but it was one of those huge displays of half price offers and I wonder how many people were charged the full amount and didn't realise?
Anyway, waiting for the delivery men now, I hope they are nice and friendly.
Ooh, I almost forgot..... while sweeping the garden an Asda home delivery van backed out of our close and reversed straight into a neighbours car! Lady driver, so you can imagine the comments. I don't really understand how she managed it but she certainly made a mess. What an exciting day.

What a difference a day makes, so the song goes, and it's true.
All went well at the vets as you know, and MrT is now much more comfortable and being a real sweetie. Either the long nails, sore ear, or both must have been giving him a bad time because he is much nicer now.
The freezer was delivered and the guys had this amazing trolley that went up stairsIt was rivetting to watch and they got it in with no problems and were really nice as well.
Then I went to my Tenants Federation meeting and despite it being an 80 mile round trip, I am pleased I went. I didn't get home until about 9 pm but managed to watch Glee and Alan Carr...
This morning I cleaned the old fridge and transferred all the stuff (not much) into the new shiny, silver one.... I am thrilled and can't wait to start freezing things!
The guys from the Salvation Army arrived first thing and took the old fridge away - they were so grateful, I was pleased I called them because I know someone will need it.
I have done about 4 surveys this morning and have signed up for 3 one day training courses with my HA. They are quite innovative and there is always something on the go. The subjects are Interviewing skills for taking on new contractors, HA finance basics, and community monitoring. They go on through March so should keep me busy.
Another lovely sunny day, nice long dog walk beckons especially now he has had his toenails cut....
The Singles dinner .......... oh dearWhat can I say? This sounds dreadful but so many of the women look like they had fallen off the top of a Christmas tree. All sparkly and overblown, if you know what I mean? I am in my mid fifties but I felt like a youngster because even the younger ones seemed so ..... old fashioned. The men were all a bit "different" - Nobody seemed normal. God this sounds atrocious, sorry
But they were either dressed very strangely, or were a bit unkempt or had a large amount of baggage trailing along behind. "My ex" "My wife" "My this, My that" Urgggh  Don't want to hear it thanks! And it cost me £25 for a carvery dinner. Well my new unemployed status means that I can't afford any more events for now.It is a shame I paid out £50 for 6 months membership. Oh well....
Anyway, I am a lot more positive and aim to try and stay that way.
I hope everyone is well.
Hugs

Well done on poor doggie SA. good to hear he sounds happier. well done on FF delivery too. My LL has been in touch, he has been away visiting his mother as she was ill, and said he will get damp sorted and buy me a new washing machine. I need to call him as DH gave him the wrong number for me!
But everytime I take a step forward, I take 2 back financially!0 -
Thanks for your kind words, SA.
Proofreading work is pretty difficult to get started in, but once you get experienced you can make a reasonable living from it. It helps if you have a specialist interest. People tend to think of this kind of work being for publishers, but nearly every company has some kind of literature (brochures, annual reports, property particulars, web sites and so on), so there is a wide market to tap into - the trouble with a lot of companies, though, is that they don't know that they need people to proofread their documents!
Picture research and indexing are other areas you could look at. For proofreading and picture research I would recommend the Publishing Training Centre. They do distance learning courses in both subjects (and copy-editing), as well as one on how to freelance - how to get clients and that kind of thing. They also do a couple of on-line courses, including a free short course on proofreading, which might give you a taste of the distance learning course. Their website is www.train4publishing.co.uk - it also has information about choosing a career in these areas.
If you are interested in going down this route, I would highly recommend joining the Society for Proofreaders and Editors (www.sfep.org.uk). They do a number of one-day courses, have a newsletter, run an annual conference, etc. They also do a mentoring scheme, and provide ways of becoming accredited in proofreading and editing, which will help with getting work (although probably more with publishers than other types of businesses). I think they might also have details on grants for training – but I don’t know too much about this.
Hey wordsmith, thanks very much for this. This is something I too am interested in so will look at the sites with interest.
Startagain sorry to hear people have been so horrible, and also that the dinner was so 'odd'. I hope things start looking up for you soon.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Good Morning everyone...
Wednesday, and the middle of the week already, crikey. It is exactly one week since my dismissal.... fading into the background already.
Very pleased to report that the new fridge freezer is very quiet, one or two of the reviews I read said that it was noisy. I must have a quiet one.
What a lovely day we had yesterday, weatherwise. I actually dried some washing outside. A bit grey today though.
I am being very resourceful at the moment. I did a bit of shopping this morning and counted up all my loose change and used my Nectar points and only had to pay an extra £1.90 for £12 worth of goods. Result!I have got a couple of bits and bobs to sell and I am going to put cards in the newsagents windows around town. Every bit helps, doesn't it?
I am also going to bite the bullet and email the lady who runs the singles club to ask her if she will refund part of my membership money? I paid £50 for 6 months and another £25 for the Saturday dinner. I won't be going to any more events because I can neither afford it or want to (being totally honest) She can always say No.
Aesop, I know what you mean about one step forward and two back financially. I have noticed that my gas prepayment meter is going down much quicker than it used to. That must be a result of the recent price rise, but it certainly seems to be costing a lot more in credits. I should start looking around for an alternative supplier but as soon as you change it seems that there is a general rise - I will have a look see though. Certainly got the time to do it...;)
That's all for now.... hope everyone is well.
Hugs
