  • Well ..... I watched Inception on Box Office last night. It was reviewed as being really good but I didn't understand it.... :o I persevered but admit I was totally confused, however I like Tom Hardy and he was in it so I just took in the eye candy.... ;)
Watched the last bit of the Comedy Awards and was so pleased that Miranda won 3 awards including the Peoples Choice. She is so nice and self effacing, brill.
I didn't sleep very well for the first time in ages so I got up early, took MrT (my dog) for a quick walk and then went and did my cleaning job. I can do it on Sun, Mon or Tues as they shut for a couple of days a week and as long as it is done for Tues when they open it is up to me. So now I can have a mini lie in for the next two mornings... :) Got to work tonight though... :(
My freezer auction closes at 10am. At the moment I am the highest bidder but I actually would prefer to have the next one which closes at 12.00. It is a bit more bashed about and is local so I think it will be cheaper and the delivery is less as well. I don't have to pay them to take the old one away because the local Sally Army is always on the lookout for old furniture and white goods and it is in perfect working order. I just want a FREEZER!!!! Fingers crossed.

I think I may start looking for another part time job to replace the one in the afternoons. I just feel so unwelcome there. I know that people have their own problems but they are just such a funny bunch (apart from my boss, who is great) that I don't think it is doing me any good. It has taken me years of working on my self esteem and insecurity issues that I feel that this stupid job is setting me back again to a place that I don't want to go to. The daft thig is that I like the job itself and I think I am good at it. I have only been there since Oct but I have picked it up quickly - I think that may be one of the problems. If I was a daft thicko then they probably would feel happier. I just don't know what to do. I had a long chat with my boss on Tues and thought it would be OK but it is actually worse and he is out of the office a lot because he is a Sales Director and being a man tends not to see how upsetting it all is. Does that make sense? :(
I went to Mr S yesterday to do my weekly shopping, only because I had a voucher for 80 extra Nectar points. I used the self service till and when I paid it rained out 3 more coupons - I now have one for 800 points if I spend £20 on clothes and accessories, one for double points on my next shop and a third one for 140 points if I buy 7 own brand items for £1 or less, which is highly likely seeing as I am on a budget! What a nice bonus, I shall be able to use all of them.

Happy Sunday everyone.... fridge freezer update to follow.

Haven't seen Inception, SA, so can't help you there, in fact I don't watch many films. DS doesn't let me when he is awake and when he is asleep I usually have other things I want to do. I think I need to prioritise my life!

Well done on the Mr S' vouchers! I wombled a double points voucher yesterday as I had left mine at home. I always use the self service tills as DS likes to Scan, and I looked at the bin next to ours and someone had thrown away loads of vouchers as they didn't want them. I only grabbed this one, but looked up and am sure the SAs saw me do it but they didn't say anything. :D

They are all used to me and DS in there, we go in every day as I shop daily for cheap stuff. I heard a customer say to DS, that is lovely pushing the basket you are doing, he pushes it around the floor, and the Manager said, he likes it in here, he enjoys himself :o.

good luck with the freezer, hope you get the second one instead. Fingers crossed x
  • Morning Aesop,
I am sure they don't mind who gets the vouchers. Hoard em up!
Freezer update, Well, the Silly Sunday bidders are out in force and both the 1st and 2nd ones have gone over £160 whcih is madness because they are scratched and dented, then with £30 delivery are just under £200. I have found a website that sells the same model, brand new with free delivery for £211. I am bidding on a 3rd one and have gone to £156 plus £25 delivery is a £30 saving. If I don't get it then i will wait and order a new one from the other place tomorrow morning. Their delivery is within 48 hrs with a 4 hr del slot - Comet is up to 9 days and is a wait in all day jobbie. No brainer as far as I am concerned.
Listening to Steve Wright's love songs on the Radio, then off to feed the ducks with doggy. The ducks see him coming and run up to us now, they look so funny racing each other.
    Further Freezer update to follow.....
Any job advice, anyone.... How do I not let them get me down?

sorry SA, forgot about that bit.

I tell the people I work with teflon shoulders. in other words, any nasty cruel or horrible things that are said, ie you don't work fast enough, why isn't that done yet!? Let it slide off your shoulders, don't let it absorb into your soul, let the words slide away as if they were never said.

And when the person who is expecting a reaction doesn't get one, the wonder why. It is nice to see their confused face.

Thanks Aesop, I will remember that "teflon shoulders" .. I think the problem is made worse by the fact that there are only 4 of us (and the boss) that work in two offices and 2 of them are very unfriendly. The lady that works nights, who I am working with tonight, is lovely and she actually came in to work in her own time to train me because I wasn't getting anywhere with the daytime staff. She has begged me not to leave because she thinks I am good for the company, but I just don't know how much I can take. I need another coating of teflon I think.

Freezer update - well, having lost the first 2, the 3rd one is now up to £176 plus delivery. That is £206 when you can buy it new for £211 delivered! I have come to the conclusion that some people get carried away with bidding (we know that already) and also that they don't look around on the internet. The price of the same model varies from £211 to £299 plus delivery with some outlets, so it really does pay to do a bit of searching. This place also does the cooker that I want to get for £100 less than the listed place.
Just fed the ducks - a quiet afternoon and reading the papers lays ahead...

I am so pleased that I am not the only one. Weird plot , or what?
As you can see I have given up on the bidding and will order a new shiny one tomorrow when I have got some money in the bank to pay for it...... :o

SA hello i have been out today so only just saw your posts. I used to feel like you, there is no right and wrong answer maybe what happened to me can help you. I was bullied at work. I am a bit of a prat and always want to make friends with people. People usually do like me everywhere i have worked before i have been the most popular person. I am not assertive and eager to please and people usually try to pick on me but everyone else always sorts it out. When i started at this place i was hated as other people had to work for 10-15 years to be given the job i was given. It irritated people, I was physically pushed around and pretty heavily bullied. The people were discipined but not a lot has changed except they dont physically hurt me now. I tried to fit in. It is now clear I will never be accepted. Luckily it is a big place i have made friends in every dept but my own. I have had CBTherapy to make me realise these people are not perfect and I would never want to be friends with them. I love what i do but not where i do it but hey, it's a salary so to not be so focussed on it i am starting to do other things.

Rather than making friends at work i just think of it as a place where i earn money and i try to enjoy other areas of my life and focus on the positives. MSE, walking, meeting best friends at weekends, making plans for the future, reading etc It really is working they dont have the power to hurt me any more. They are so mean they are not people I would like to be friends with anyway and now i realise it isn't a loss.

This probably doesn't help. But since i can't drive (unstable diabetes) i am sort of trapped here for a while longer. One day i will move on but i want to increase my experience. Resource wise the place is fantastic and i can't fault my students -I have learned like Aesop to do the shoulder thing. It is a place where i earn money - fab in some ways not so fab in others but other than my subject and my students i really dont focus on it as i am trying to use other areas of my life as i was a workaholic.

It is late this probably doesn't make a lot of sense (dont think i do much at the best of times anyway TBH) but i want you to know you are not alone and you have many friends on here. Miserable so and so's like that never will have, it is best to leave them to it if you can. It wont hurt to start looking but please dont quit till you have a job to go to. I dont think you will do that as you are a wise lady and a blooming nice one too.

    Good luck flower. hugs, sw.

sw - thank you so much for your kind, thoughtful and very sweet reply - sums you up, really ;) I did write a reply this morning but lost it as I pressed "submit" - it's gone off into cyberspace somewhere.

Well, I have bought my fridge freezer from Appliance Deals - £211 brand new and delivered. £100 less than Asda and Argos. Bargain. They have also got the cooker that I want next and that is about £125 less than other outlets. Saving like mad.

I have booked next Monday off so that the f/f can be delivered. I am so excited - I can do a "big shop" with Asda online and have it delivered. Another first for me...... at my advanced years:)

Work was ...... work :( My colleague was on form today and being an absolute pain in the a**e, freezing me out of everything. I honestly don't think she realises what a bully she is being. I am sure that a lot of it comes from insecurity - she seems to see me as a threat. But I had my teflon shoulders on. It was quiet so I took myself off and caught up with all the filing, left bang on time and took MrT out for a long walk in the sunshine while a lovely beef stew was cooking slowly in the oven. The smell when I got home was amazing.

Not much to write today, I hope everyone is OK.

    Hugs
    SA

Glad you got your F/F sorted out, and with it being brand new you know it is not going to have any marks on it.
