I have had a nightmare of a day:eek: I emailed my daughters' reception venue to arrange for chair covers, crockery etc, and got an email back saying the date was no longer available! I rang them and said that I had a receipt for the deposit. Turns out that I'd paid the previous owner and he'd scarpered with my £100 deposit!!!! Not only mine but about five others too. The new owners were great, it wasn;t their fault, and they tried to find me another venue. Luckily I have managed to find one, although my daughter wasn't very grateful, saying she didn't like the one I'd got! I have now told her that it's that one or NO WEDDING!
OIne consolation is that this one is cheaper. The other place was £450 with the DJ this is only £250:T

I took out wedding insurance though, got to try and find out if I can claim the deposit back now.
Large glass of wine tonight me thinks!:rotfl:

Oh my goodness, what a nightmare! Fab news you've managed to find an alternative venue though, that must have been so stressful! Fingers crossed you can claim the deposit back on the insurance, do you have to pay an excess?

You're not on our list on the front page, what date is your daughter's wedding?

Thanks for sharing my excitement White_Sapphire :D
I've been bouncing off the walls for the past few days, but have had to keep it quiet as my oh is desperate to see it and I want to keep it a surprise!

He comes on here from time to time so I don't really want to post a piccy just in case he spots it! It is by Ian Stuart, and it is a like a dream come true. I fell in love with his dresses when I first started researching wedding dresses, but never thought I'd be able to afford one, so I'm incredibly happy and excited :j

Are you still making yours? That is an incredible talent to have (and so MSE as well! :money:) Hope all is well with you my dear, & thanks again :) xx

Hope you feel better soon lupyloo.

Wow you got a bargain finding a £1700 Ian Stuart dress, never mind getting a third off! I have not seen one that cheap any where, and have heard that usually Ian Stuart are very strict and don't allow any reductions. What is your dress name called?

Nope it's not the same one as me

Think there is an August 2011 thread somewhere :)

Ian Stuart dresses are amazing!!! You're so lucky :D Yes, I am still making my dress; still not made any kind of a start on it yet though!! Keep an eye on the Sep 12 thread - I will post progress pics as H2B does not come on here (at least not to my knowledge :p) although may only keep them up for a short time to be sure! Really looking forward to getting started but other things have to take priority for now!

    xx

I was extremely lucky as the lady who owns the shop had bought it for a heavily reduced price from a wedding fare and because she had used it for her promotion shots last year she was quite willing to get rid to have the space. I dont mind that its not this season at all, because it makes me feel like a princess. Its the Florentina, she also had a Benjamin Roberts one I loved but can't remember the style, very similar though. If anyone really loves Ian Stuart I would check out http://www.preloved.co.uk/adverts/listadverts?subcategoryId=&keyword=ian+stuart+&orderBy=ranking&searchArea=GB%2CIE&minPrice=&maxPrice=&memberType=&type=&x=51&y=13 as they have a massive range of his dresses at prices around the same as what I paid hth x

Oooooh, Florentina is truly gorgeous, such a princess dress! You really must be over the moon :D I love love LOVE Ian Stuart!! :D

Preloved is great for wedding dresses, for anyone still looking it is definitely worth keeping an eye out to see if anything local comes up (I wouldn't be brave enough to buy a dress without trying it on first!)

Ooh sorry, my daughter Caroline is getting married on 20th August. It would have been my Mum's 75th birthday (she passed away three years ago). Haven't checked the insurance yet, will let you know how I get on.
Paid for the new venue today, so that's sorted! Also paid for Hastings Museum where they are getting married. My daughter is being a Bridezilla at the moment, so I'm not very happy with her! She seems to have forgotten that this day is supposed to be about getting married, not what the place looks like, or the ****** chair covers! Her fiance is great, he's so laid back as well :)
Well back to checking my lists.....
