  • Hi ladies, can I join?!

We got engaged on NYE and we're getting married on 3rd Aug 2012, in Durham Castle. So excited already! It's going to be quite a traditional and classy do, but still trying to keep things MSE and give it a bit of an individual twist.

I'm TERRIFIED of trying dresses on though - can't stand snooty salespeople and will feel a fraud looking at expensive dresses when I really want to buy one from Ebay or second hand, once I've found what I'm after! I love these two but they're so different - what do you think?

Anyway will be keeping a close eye on this part of the forum to get some ideas and see how everyone's plans are going!

Hi northern at heart, welcome to our thread :)

I was also properly TERRFIED of trying on dresses. I hate trying on normal clothes in changing rooms and I don't like tight things. Plus I was terrfied of some snooty sales assisstant coming at me with a tape measure or giggling at my wobbly bits :o I bit the bullet and went yesterday to try some on, and the assistant was just lovely. She really put me at ease and made me feel calm and relaxed- I actually quite liked it! Don't think they had "the one" though, so will have to keep on looking.

As for your dresses, I love the first one but you really do need to see them in the flesh and try them on before you can see how you feel in them, and which is more flattering on you. Be brave and give it a go!

Wow that is awesome news! How exciting! Did you try many on before you decided on that one? How did you know it was "the one"?

the first dress that i looked at, i thought had too much detail so continued looking at other dresses and put the ones i liked to the side to try on which must have been nearly 10 in all. as i was trying them all on, the dress that i initially looked at kept catching my eye. i had a couple put aside that looked nice on, so i thought what the hell, i will try it on just to see what it looked like, well as you have probably guessed by now, that was the one. the assistant and my daughter thought it looked lovely. i went with my friend on another day to another shop and tried a few dresses on there and my friend loved a dress that i had tried and i also quite liked but i kept harping on about the above one, so i took her to the shop and tried on the dress again and she also loved it so the deposit is put down on the dress. i also got a massive long veil (144inch) to go with it. im beginning to think im going OTT because its a civil ceremony. i hope that my expalnation makes sense.lol:j

That makes perfect sense :) So many brides say the dress they fell in love with was one that they didn't think they would go for initially.

I am so pleased for you adnur :D

    How is everyone doing?
