Ach tell me about it flitemad, having photographer meltdown at the moment myself, I swear I will scream if I look at another photographer's website I like but can't afford!! Prices and quality seem to vary so much, it's such a minefield trying to pick the right one. We're seeing a couple of photographers after work at the end of this week, hopefully one of them will tick all the boxes.
Wedding fairs are a great way to meet people and if there are a few florists or a few photographers there then you can try to haggle against them. You've got plenty of time to get things sorted, so don't panic! We decided that the honeymoon was going to be one of the most important parts of our wedding as we have 2 young boys so would be the only chance we would get to go away without them, plus dnt think vegas is very child friendly, lol...just got to fiqure a way to price it all up, which is quite hard cos i dont know where to start
Your oh is prob thinkin about honeymoons too,but doent knw how to broach u with the subject....if we had to take our boys with us we were going to do 1 week at disney land and another week in dominican rep, then the ds's dont get to bored.
Ive made my wedding list of things to do, i never realised there was so much, been searching for a relativly cheap photographer for hours and still no luck  I thought it would be really simple to organise everything, but it seems its not the case, think ill be spending all my weekends going to wedding fayres and trawling the internet.0 -
Hi jellybeans,
I am so sorry to hear about the chance of redundancy, that is a horrible situation to be in for you. I honestly think 60 people is plenty, no need to worry about the atmoshpere at all. There are the people you care about the most and they will all be delighted to be there, so really don't worry. There is no point inviting extra people you are not overly fussed about just to make up the numbers, particularly when reducing the numbers will slice a massive chunk off the cost.
Even if you have got a mssive venue, if you have less people you can just have everyone at one end, as the focus will be on the top table anyway, so nobody will be bothered by the extra space.
I am 100% sure it will be absolutely perfect, just having the people you are both closest to there will make it feel even more special
I will be keeping my fingers crossed that your job works out ok my dear xx
Thanks Tiara, just the reassurance I neededIt'll def feel more intimate just our nearest and dearest but you're right no point having extras for no reason. Feel better having a more reasonable amount to spend too. Will just have to wait and see about the job but fingers crossed!
How're your plans coming along? There are hundreds of wedding fayres about-I keep getting a million emails-the make up lady at the one I went to recently offered me a free trial though which is quite good. Bit of pampering even if I don't use her in the end.Weight loss 2015: -4lbs January (thanks flu):wall:

Not Buying It Because I Don't Need It!0 -
thanks tiara, unfortunately my favourite venue is far too expensive and has a strict minimum numbers policy. hoping the two i'm going to see will tick all the boxes for me!Getting married August 2012! :j0

Have not looked at dresses seriously - though did go into a few shops just to have apeak at some, looked at loads on line and in mags. But have no idea what I really like and don't .. I like, and given the venue, it will have to be something traditional. My mum wants to start looking in March, but I still have loads of weight to lose before trying any on. But am always happy to look....
In terms of timing on dresses I think it does have top be a question of timing, but only if you are losing weight/changing body shape. But otherwise whats the problem besides its never too early to play dress up.
Ive been to my first wedding fair this weekend!! Came away deciding that my neighbour makes much nicer tasting cake, and with an appointment with a wedding dress maker!!!
Not until March, and I'm going with my friend who is getting wed in March 2012. We looked at all the dresses in the fashion show and costs etc, and actually this lady is not really anymore expensive than off the peg combined with alterations!
Is anyone else having a dress made?0 -
jellybean 08, we are hopeing to have approx 50 guests so dont worry about the amount of guests.at the end of the day its your wedding and your day,we are trying to keep to a reasonable tight budget also.0

to those that are worried about photographers, what about putting disposable cameras on the tables so guests can take lots of photos, think the cost of them is approx £1.99-£2.99 each.i might be cheeky and ask if the cameras can be placed at our wedding ceremony so guests can take photos during ceremony when allowed and of course after and before meal.hope that all makes sense!
im trying to get mh2b to be more enthusiastic about the wedding but he keeps saying we've got plenty of time yet! trying to decide on colour schemes at the mo, sage and cream?? not easy to get sage bridesmaid dresses, have had a quick look on ebay.0 -
Wow a free makeup trial sounds great, as you say it will be lovely to have a bit of pampering even if you decide not to use her for your wedding
Yes wedding fayre season has definitely started now, I will have to try and get to a few to speak to some florists- they are next on my to do list!
Any idea how long it will be before you find out about your job? Must be a very difficult time for you not knowing what is going to happenjellybean08 wrote: »Thanks Tiara, just the reassurance I neededIt'll def feel more intimate just our nearest and dearest but you're right no point having extras for no reason. Hi lil livzy, I am thinking about having my dress made but haven't decided what I want yet. I need to go to a few dress shops and get trying on so I can work out what I would like and then get a quote for how much it would cost to get it made. I'm not sure if it will work out cheaper or dearer to get it made, think I will probably go with whatever is cheapest!Ive been to my first wedding fair this weekend!! Came away deciding that my neighbour makes much nicer tasting cake, and with an appointment with a wedding dress maker!!!

We looked at all the dresses in the fashion show and costs etc, and actually this lady is not really anymore expensive than off the peg combined with alterations! Sage and cream sounds like it could be very effective, but it would be more difficult and possible more expensive to find everything you want in those colours.
I have thought about disposable cameras but not sure how well they would work as our hall is quite dark. I would also be worried about kids getting hold of them and taking oodles of blurred photos of people's feet! The downside of disposables is you can't see if the photos are worth having until you have paid for them to be developed, which can cost quite a bit. On the other hand you might get some fab pics of guests from them that you wouldn't have got from a normal photographer, so it is definitely something to keep in mind
Is anyone else having a dress made?
Hi adnur, I haven't decided on a colour scheme yet either. Debating between blue and yellow, or dark red. It is worth baring in mind that it will be cheaper and easier to find bridesmaid dresses, table decs, invites etc etc in more common/traditional colours.to those that are worried about photographers, what about putting disposable cameras on the tables so guests can take lots of photos, think the cost of them is approx £1.99-£2.99 each.i might be cheeky and ask if the cameras can be placed at our wedding ceremony so guests can take photos during ceremony when allowed and of course after and before meal.hope that all makes sense!

Hi Everyone,
A little while since there was anyone posting on this thread... how is everyone doing?0 -
I have found a photographer :j:j:j
Less than half the price of the guy I originally liked, and his work is really really good- we went to meet him and looked through tonnes of wedding albums he has done before. I love his relaxed style and he is really talented. I am so pleased and relieved! Contract is in the post today, so hopefully it will all be signed and sealed very soon!

Not been on this thread, but have looked on others.
We havent done anything else yet really. I have asked a band we both like how much they would charge to play at the wedding, the guy we know said they usually charge between £500 - £600 but as he knows me, they should do it cheaper, which is a bonus. They are absolutely brilliant, so hope we can afford them!
I havent been to any wedding fairs, mainly because I dont drive and there aren't any more local to me at the moment. Does anyone else live near Burton on Trent and know where there are any???
Most of my friends are younger (and a lot slimmer!!!) than me so I can't bear the thought of them seeing me in dresses that are 4 sizes to small for me while trying them on. I am hoping to go to a shop in Leicester next week to see some there and my daughter will be coming then. I've already fallen in love with a dress, which I know I shouldn't have done without trying it, but hey ho!
I really dont know what else to do at the moment. I feel a bit flat that I cant get anything organised, especially as we cant make up what flippin colour we want! At the moment, its ivory/black/gold, but this is the 3rd choice so far. Who knows what we will end up with!!!
Going to see the wedding planner on Saturday to get a contract signed, she did say they dont usually bother and just use the emails as gospel, but I think I would rather have it in writing to be honest!
I have my hairdresser sorted, she is a friend, so I'm hoping she gives me a big discount!! Not thought about make up. I guess I need to go to some wedding fairs!!Married the absolute love of my life on Sunday May 6th and I couldnt be happier!!!0
