Ahhhhhh guest book! Something else to add to my list!! Thank you!!

I was really worried about suits as my boyfriend was making noises that he wanted to get weird colourful suits...I just wanted something simple and classic! He is currently living and working in London (I'm in Belfast) so he went to a suit hire place while he was home at Christmas as he had more time then, so we sorted a good few things then. His weekends at home can be very short and it's annoying to have to do jobs when he's home, better to do fun things!

I have to say that the suit job was an absolute breeze and one of the easiest jobs I have done so far. I get the impression from the guy that we could have left it a good few months more to order them. Got a great price too ;)

Awww must be hard being so far apart,i hate my OH working a saturday night never mine being away all week but i could be in the same position as u at any time as his job moves around every few months.but yes nice to have fun on the weekend.

I wont be going with the men suit shopping,OH popped down with his best man before xmas, they came back grinning like cats on about ivory suits  i said no way me and my girls are in ivory would clash way to much to have 3 men in ivory to so there going for a nice dark grey but the arnt sure on tails or the long jackets with straight bottom.:)

I did look on ebay at guestbooks and there over priced,im sure our local card shop does them for about £5 i will then decorate the front myself ;)

He wouldn't let me come with him either as he wanted it to be a thing he could do with his brother and his best friend! I didn't really mind this but he ended up having to phone me from the shop to discuss with the guy in the shop the colour of my dress to match in with waistcoats, and THEN i had to go down the next day to ok everything and pay! would have been a lot quicker and easier if I had have just gone with him in the first place!!

There have been some tough times with him being away as he has been for 2 1/2 years seeing each other every 2 weekends :( But we just got word that he has been offered a job at home, so he will be home in about 6 weeks for good! Yay!

Lol sounds a pain but atleast u got sorted.our colours are ivory and gold so nice and simple, not sure if OH will have an ivory cravat and the BM and my dad gold ones though yet.
O that will be fab wont it to have him home more just in time for the more in depth planning.will u be doing alot of stuff yourselves?

my bridesmaids are gonna be like an aubergine/eggplant colour as they call it, with dark grey suits. debated getting cravates to match but really couldn't be annoyed with the hassle of that so just gonna keep it simple with all ivory cravates. groom will be defined simply by having a bigger buttonhole flower (and the biggest grin on his face, ha!) flowers are just gonna be all white with flashes of purple.

i'm not very creative i'm afraid but boyfriend is and has taken on the job of stationary...it is very stressful for me not being in control of it but we have set deadlines for the various bits to be done now, and he is used to working with deadlines in his work, so hopefully it will be ok, i just need to relax about it!!

apart from that doing very little ourselves...florist doing table centres. i'm gonna make up some activity bags for the kids. we've asked his cousin's husband to do our video as a favour as my boyfriend did theirs for them and also he is a professional animator working on the new Tim Burton movie!! so we know he'll do a good job. we're not having favours...having a donation to charity instead. i am toying with the idea of making cupcakes/shortbread myself for in between the ceremony and dinner but not sure yet! hmmm that is probably about it...might do some more bits but haven't decided yet. we are very lucky in that our reception venue is absolutely beautiful/newly refurbished...to mess with it too much would ruin it i think as it's so gorgeous!

  • Morning, its nice to see some more activity on this thread :j

We haven't done suits yet, in fact I don't really have a colour scheme. I don't want formal bridesmaid dresses, am just going to get some nice dresses from Coast or Monsoon or similar, but need to wait for the summer collections to come out so probably March/April time?
