We went down to Essex (where my OH is from)a few weeks ago and my OH managed to get her wedding dress sorted in and hour and a half!!!! She got it from Brides by Appointment (Barnados' Bridal shop) and only paid £350 which put a smile on my face. Also managed to sort bridesmaids dresses (which I am lead to believe was a lot more stressful) and paid the majority of them off with Debenhams vouchers which we had collected over last year or so at xmas and birthdays.
On friday night we went to listen to a band, we'd heard a couple of their songs online but wanted to hear them for real, we listened to them setting up and my OH decided she wanted them before we heard a song, we stayed about 35mins into the set and left because we'd decided we wanted them by then.
Tasks for the rest of the week, pay the deposit for band and caterer then get prices for tables and chairs
Oh yeah and also finalised details of where my stag do is going to be!!!0 -
She done good with her dress then,i only tried one on and decided it was the one lol
my bridesmaids or my two girls 5 and 2 so wasnt stressful with them,thankfully0 -
Hi ladies, I've never posted before so be nice :-) Lovely to make your acquaintance, and good luck for August x x x
We're getting married on 30th August. OH's dad has been in hospital a lot recently and I don't know if that's what gave OH a kick up the bum but just before Christmas he decided we should get married. We've been engaged since August 2010 so I already had a lot of ideas of what I wanted so sorting out the next bits were easy. We found our venue, Holdsworth House in Halifax, so went for a real look, fell in love and that's all booked. We've done the notice of intention to marry so registrars are all sorted.
I have bought my dress, flowers and the gubbins that go with it (tiara, veil, hoop, shoes). I've made my own favours for the ladies. Car is booked (Rolls Royce Silver Cloud), all the people that are invited have been notified. My auntie is buying our cake for us, my mum is paying for half of the evening reception and OH's folks are paying the other half. OH is having a suit made at a local tailors.
In the main we still need to find a photographer and have got to go get our rings. We're having matching platinum bands. When we got engaged I laughed at OH, telling him he'd just tripled the price of our wedding rings because he'd bought me a platinum engagement ring. We have found the rings we like and thanks to an MSE poster, we can get a massive discount on them. They would originally be £1950 for both rings, we're getting about £700 off. Wa hoo!!!!
There's pics of my dress and flowers knocking around on the forum anywhere if anyone wants a nosey. There's a link to my flowers too on the bridezilla thread. I've got loads of things that I'll need your opinions on because I've got no one to help me choose things. My mum wants everything to be a surprise therefore my dad's not allowed to see anything either. My chief bridesmaid doesn't give a monkeys and my 2 other bridesmaids live in different countries so they're not close by either. Such a diverse bunch on here so I'll probably be posting for opinions a lot. Well, maybe not so much now because I've already asked a load of questions on other threads lol.
Thanks for reading. I need someone to get excited with me :-) Time for a coffee I think, and to find some socks because it's freezing in here! Roll on August! x x xYaaay, I finally conned a man into making a honest woman of me. Even more shocking is that I can put the words "Happily" and "Married" into the same sentence and not have life insurance on my mind when I say it ;-)0 -

We have 120 people i have a large family and other half has lots of friends, and we are also trying to keep to quite a tight budget. We plan to have a hog roast for the main meal as we always have BBQ's for friends/relatives in August and people can just pick and choose what they would like.0 -
