Hello fmow! Welcome! Not too late to get a dress! Depends where you get it from, I got mine from a bridal shop and it took 6 months to come but I reckon they could have done it quicker if I asked them. What type of venue are you having?0
-
I've been browsing for a while but felt it time to join in. Our wedding is booked for Monday 6th August 2012. We have the venue, food, chair covers, magician, DJ and photographer. I've paid the deposit on my dress and bought the childrens bridesmaid dresses. We've started sending Save The Dates (made by family) I've decided on the florist I want but OH wants to wait until after a local wedding show in feb to actually book anything more. I'm itching to get things sorted but we're saving as we go along. Our original plan was to wed on our 10yr anniversary in Oct 2013 but we won the venue to photographer as listed above! This of course is incredible but it means we had 8mths to save rather than 2yrs!!Wins since September 2011: Wedding (Worth £3500) :j Bridesmaids Headpiece (Worth £40) National Wedding Show VIP tickets (Worth £70) £100 Shopping vouchers...0

We're in the processing of finalising the numbers - the invites are being posted out in January. We're currently looking at 81 for the ceremony & wedding breakfast and around 120 in total on the evening.
We're just a little confused and was hoping for a little moneysaving advice?
We already have the decorations in place for the 9 tables & top table (81 people) that will be used for the wedding breakfast. However, should we also prepare table names and decorations for any extra tables & chairs needed for the evening reception (potentially an extra 40 people if everyone can attend on the evening)?
The same venue are hosting both the ceremony and reception, just the ceremony is inside the hotel and reception is in a marquee on the hotel grounds. To save money, we were looking to reuse the chair covers from the ceremony on the evening but hotel staff said we could not transfer chairs from one to the others we would need up to 200 chair covers.
We have now decided just to have chair covers at the reception - do we get 81 chair covers for the wedding breakfast tables or get more chair covers for every person at the evening? - do all your guests at the reception require a seat - if we have succeeded, hopefully most will be on dancefloor most of evening!
Perhaps the extra tables should have table cloths but not require any extra decorations/favours etc?
Your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated0 -
Hi to all the newbies.
Borosupporter no table names arnt needed for the evening well not in my experience of weddings anyway,u can cater for the evening tables centre pieces if u wish,i am as i think it will look nice for when my evening guests arrive.in my experience of a wedding where chair covers were used it was in a marque for the day and evening so the chair covers stayed on,ours is two different rooms, for the day we have high backed leather chairs there like a champagne cover and very nice, the evening are just normal padded chairs and TBH we havnt even thought about chair covers,i dont expect most will notice.
Alot of people mill around by the bar or dance floor than sit down unless eating and even then not everyone eats all at the same time.0 -
So how was everyones christmas and new year? me and DF said we wasnt going to go crazy for each other because of the wedding but he ended up spoiling me so i felt a little bad that i didnt spend as much on him,he isnt fussed about gifts but i did feel a little guilty.
anyway can you believe its here 2012 and we are only just over 7 months away till our big days,it definetly feels real now, especially as i will be looking at making a start as from feb on my invites etc0 -
Had an ace xmas and ny cheers Hollie, can't believe we're all getting married this year! It's glorious! I'm having guest list beef at the moment, so many people I've known for ages but we've drifted, other people who are more recent but closer to, and annoying big families! Oh well I guess the current economic climate is a good excuse for not being able to invite everyone. I'm starting a serious detox from yesterday so hopefully will see some results by August! What are you doing for your invites? xx0
-
Theres always problems with who to invite isnt there, ive got the same problem with my hen do,because Dublin was a no no between a few of us my sister told me to organise my own, seems because we cant go where she wants she is no longer interested so im having trouble getting definet answers from everyone so i can book the hotel.
Ive picked some ivory gatefold invites and my theme is ivory and gold so am having gold writing embossed on the front which im doing myself and not sure what else dont want to go over board, simple but tasteful is my aim.
i started on my diet today only put 2lb on since xmas so not to bad,my weight is steady but want to lose more for the wedding so i feel happy in myself.im using an app on my phone its fantastic counts all your calories and tracks everything.
So what sort of detox are you doing?0 -
Wow your invites sound lush, I think I'm going to do gatefold ones for thankyou cards, done up with a thankyou ribbon and with a photo from the wedding inside... quite cheesy but cool imho!
In my detox I am stopping smoking EEEK and not going to drink for a while as I know that if I have a few I'll be like, oh I'll just have a cheeky fag, and ruin all my hard work! I'm not desperate to lose weight either apart from the old xmas bulge, the main thing I need to work on is my ARMS they are so not cool and they will defo be on show! Also trying to drink more water etc, exfoliate... fun fun fun!
I don't think I'm going to do a diet other than just try and eat healthily which I do anyway, thankfully I don't really like sweet food so it's easier! If I do end up doing one I think I might do that 2 day milk diet have you heard about it? It looks ace and you only have to do it 2 days a week - think I could cope with that!0 -
Ah thank you, what a lovely idea with the picture,i sent thank you cards out when my daughter was born and included a picture.so not cheesy at all.
Ah smoking,i was a smoker till from the age of 13 until the day before i found out i was pregnant with my first child which was 6 years ago,i then became a social smoker when out which wasnt often, then i had our 2nd child 3 years ago and stopped then back to social smoking,i then gave up for good june and i feel better for it,even though it was only on the occassion.good luck with it once you put your mind to something u can do anything.
I at the moment have problems with my arms to it started off as dry skin, scabbed over then left white patches, similar to vitiligo its a skin disease, cant be passed from person to person but ive been given a cream which ive been using for 3 weeks, problem is its noticeable as im dark skinned.the Dr says the pigmentation will go back to normal but im not seeing any improvment yet so going to give it another 2 weeks as im using a tube of cream a week then im going back and asking to be refered to a dermatologist.
Not heard of the milk diet, whats that then?0 -
Oh poor you well at least you have got time to try a few different things on your arms if you need to before your wedding.
I read about the 2day milk diet in Good Housekeeping magazine, i was laughing at myself for buying it as I'm 28 but it is really good! Anyway I liked the sound of it as it has been shown to have health benefits beyond weight loss, it's actually recommended by scientists rather than discouraged! There is some info here http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/8045212/Dieting-for-two-days-a-week-can-almost-half-the-risk-of-breast-cancer.html0
