Well I finally feel like we're making progress now :D
We've FINALLY agreed on a colour scheme and have ordered some lovely vases to use as centre pieces :D

I can now make a start on designing the save the dates, though not planning to send these out til xmas (popping them inside xmas cards to save on postage :o). We also need a few more months to finalise the guest list, as who we can invite will depend in part on how much we can save in the next 6 months or so :)

I can also start looking for a bridesmaid dress and flowers, it's just such a relief to have got a colour scheme and be able to get moving with everything else!

    Hey Tiara...

So excited for you... I need to know what colour scheme have you chosen? I need to know!!:) he he!!

As you say until thats decided its impossible to make much real progress!!

I love card-making and sometimes make Birthday and Christmas cards for family and close friends. I would love to make our invites- however, I am very aware of the cost of it all. Homemade cards are usually quite expensive to make, I love pretty embellishments/ toppers/ ribbons etc and it all adds up, and could easily end up dearer than just buying them, and it's soooo time-consuming! An added complication is that we don't have a printer at home, which is a pain. My Mum has one, which I'm sure she wouldn't mind us using, but it would just get a bit stressful having her peering over my shoulder all the time!

I'll have a look around and see what kind of deals are about on buying them, and will probably only make them if it works out cheaper than buying them. Did you say you got your save the dates from Vistaprint? Would you recommend them? I've seen lots of posts talking about various freebies from them which sounds great :D

Yes I've got my dress :j Very early I know (I bought it in April!!), but I don't think I would get another opportunity to get such a beautiful dress at the price I got it for :D I still need to get shoes and a tiara though, and I think shoes could potentially be tricky. There's a lot of detail at the bottom of the dress so I don't think it could be taken up without losing a lot of the sparkles. Which would mean mega high heels, and I really struggle to walk in heels :o Ah well, that's a dilemma for another day!

Yay to you finally being able to send out your save the dates :D Very exciting stuff! Are you just sending them to people you're inviting to the whole day, or to people just invited to the evening part as well?

Ooh lovely. What colour scheme are you having? I got our save the dates about 2 months ago and was going to send them out at the beginning of July. but with all the hoo haa with the venue, we put it on hold, can now send them out!

Are you making your own invites? I am really really NOT crafty. I will probably end up having to buy them :-(

Have you got your own dress?

Teee heee, I'm excited too!! :j:j:j
Our colour scheme is....... *drum roll* ..... blue, green, yellow and cream!

We're both very pleased with that and I feel it's a fair compromise. OH gets his own with not having any red, and I get my way by having yellow and blue (little does he know there will quite possibly be minimal green :rotfl:)

I'm hoping by having multiple colours and not being stuck on certain shades it should be easy to find things that match- fingers crossed!

Are you still going with apples and pears as your theme Hadley? :)

What is your dress? I know the one I want, just cant afford it!

I did get my STD from Vistaprint. They were free, just had to pay p&p, but I have had more emails since with free on. I might re do them if there is another design I like better now.

We are only sending the STD to the people who are coming to the day time. We can only have 50, so its mainly family and v close friends.

Have you booked your venue? Those colours are lovely, but I cant imagine what I would do with them!!

    Yup, venue is booked :D

    Our plan is

    Blue bridesmaid dress
Bouquets- blue, cream and possibly yellow
Suits- blue cravats or whatever they're called
Button holes and corsages- yellow or cream
Centrepieces- blue and green vases with one blue delphinum (sp? :o) and 1 sunflower
Top table flowers- blues, creams, and yellows.

It works in my head, and we've done a trial of the centrepieces which looked fab. The main colour will be blue, with green to just compliment it (mainly because my OH didn't want yellow and blue as these are the colours of our footie team and he thought some family members would disapprove!!!), and the yellow and cream can lighten it up a bit as our venue is quite dark- dark wooden tables and wooden pannelled walls etc.

Fingers crossed it will work :)

My dress is by Ian Stuart. It is a one off, so sadly I have no link to show you, but it's kinda cool to know nobody will have the same dress as me! I never thought I'd be able to afford an Ian Stuart dress, so I snapped it up when I found an unworn one on preloved!

Yup, there are ten of us on this thread with the same date so far, I can't believe how popular the date is!

I'm in Oxford, how about you? I hope no 25/08/12 brides know each other in real life and plan to invite any of the same guests!!
