We like to watch Don't Tell the Bride sometimes, the one that H2B liked was the one with the guy who was a farm worker and built up the shed with the railway sleepers and the colour scheme was landrover red. Slightly concerned that if we were to have a colour scheme he'd want landrover blue - hehe. Don't think I'll be letting him on that one.

Was really excited. MIL2B was a bit taken aback when we said next year, mind you H2B had said 18 months to 2 years. But heyho, we're going ahead with it next year! When I told my mum she said she'd better think about booking the time off work (we're having the wedding on a Thursday). I've said to my mum she can have a fascinator as long as it doesn't look like a plucked turkey! H2B's aunt wore a fascinator which looked like a turkey at his brother's wedding last year :rotfl::rotfl:

Planning on going to look at venue in August to confirm everything and make sure it's flat enough for H2B's granny who's in a wheelchair :A

Hehe- My sister boyfriend is very into Landrovers and has a blue one and when I saw that DTTB I did ask my sister if they would be having 'Landrover Blue'!!

That barn looked lovely done up.

When I told my mum we had set a date she just looked shocked that we had finally set a date. Ive told my mum she should get a fasinator- my ohs mum can make it though so she will able to get one exactly to a size and style she likes.

It was alright until he managed to drop it on himself a couple of months before we met! Six broken ribs and a trip in the air ambulance to the hospital. But he had to get rid of it, he blew the engine up whilst going too fast towing a trailer to his boss who's trailer had a blown tyre. Which then resulted in a landrover defender towing a trailer, towing H2B's discovery which was towing a trailer... quite glad the police didn't see them!

I love watching the wedding programs and have now gotten my oh into them.
Today I received my tiara and I love it. Can't wait to try it on with my dress. We also confirmed the menu and drinks for our wedding. Things are really starting to fall into place now so exciting

It's feeling quite real now, received the provisional appointment form from the Isle of Wight Registrars this morning :j

Off out for a meal this evening with my immediate family and H2B's immediate family to celebrate the engagement.

Think I may start thinking about dresses and the like soon... mum's free in June so will probably go and find a dress shop to start getting ideas and think about what I want.

Will get my crafting stuff out at somepoint and think about making save the date cards. I'm thinking that as we're only inviting a small amount of people I may look at cross-stitching the invites, then it's a little more personal, and it's something I could probably do on my commute to and from work.

Whilst typing a little blue tit came right up to my window so sweet :)

Fab news Michelle!! :) Hope you have a lovely 'engagement' meal! :) Will this be the first time the two half of families have met? See I still haven't done that!! My mum has met his dad in passing, but she hasn't met his mum. We're thinking of setting it up so they all come and watch MrD racing in September/October - dunno why it scares me really! We've managed to avoid it for the last 11 years 10 months lol.

Honeymoon update:- I sent out an email to a boat today to see whether we'd be allowed to board and dive with our very limited experience (well what we will have by then). And they have replied to say yes but we'd either need to take our diving to the next certified level, or hire a private guide. The hiring a private guide would be dead money, while taking the advanced open water course will be an investment into our (my) diving. So we're now thinking:
    * October half term - Tenerife - Open Water PADI course (to learn to dive).
    * Easter - Possibly Tenerife (so we don't have to get used to another set of instructors) - Advanced Open Water PADI course
    * August 2012 - Liveaboard for 7 days in the Red Sea.
    :) VERY excited!

Thats fab everything seems to be coming together nice and quickly for you! Lovely too to get the two families together.

Ours have never met, and this is the one thing that turns me a bit bridezilla... his mum lives a long way from us up in the north east, so shortly after we got engaged the b/f asked her when she could book some holiday and we would book and pay for a train ticket (she doesn't drive) for her to come down and visit. She told him this date, so we booked the tickets and stuff, told my mum and dad, booked a meal out etc then a couple of days before she rang him and said she didn't feel like it, and why did she have to do all the travelling it wasn't fair  and then didn't come in the end. Now I have no problem with going up there to visit her at all, but it means either paying for 4x train tickets, or taking two cars and all the petrol costs (all of our cars are too small for 4 people) AND paying for hotels as she can't put all 4 of us up.
His dad is just as grumpy. When we told him we were engaged he actually said "I'm not gonna get excited for you, you'll end up getting a divorce eventually" Now I'm as realistic as the next person but come on!! Do you really say that to your eldest son when he announces his engagement?? It's not even like we are an 'arguey' couple!

    Phew rant over lol!

My mum rang me this morning to tell me that she'd seen some nice invitations for "our wedding" :rotfl: think she's getting a bit over excited!

    xx
Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it... :o

silaqui - that's sounds completely pants. My mum and sister has met his parents before, but they've not met his brother and wife.

But it's quite funny when his mum said that she saw my mum in Morrisons and my mum ignored her (this was after the first time they met). It wasn't meant in a horrible way, so many people seem to know my mum (she works in outpatients at the local hospital) so random people are always saying hello to her.

We all live in striking distance of each other, my mum and sister live in the town, and me H2B and his parents live in a village just outside the town - in separate houses of course!

Just got to try and book a day off work in August or September to give notice at my council to make the booking 'real' with the Isle of Wight council. Just need to speak to my boss on Monday - I work in administration at a London uni and August/September are busy with A level results and registration - though might be able to get away with working from home :rotfl:
