Well it's in a village hall, so i'm going for an informal country fete type look so i can start off by doing a load of decorating with bunting (not that i've made that yet, ha)

That's very exciting you're also in Chichester - where are you getting married??
And thanks, what's the name of the shop? I'll go have a look next week xx

How about collecting jars and tins and filling with flowers, like this:

I think it goes really well with the country fete look.

Im in Hampshire, but I work in Chichester, so Im getting married in Hampshire, I do love it over Chichester way, but its too expensive to live in!! I will find the leaflet I picked up and will let you know.

That's a pretty good theme to manage 'on the cheap' as it were. Are you having flowers? The jam jar and tins suggestion is a good one. We are doing jam jars for our flowers. The poundshop chalk boards are another good one, I'm using some for little signs on some of the tables. I've also bought these cheap white plastic ikea frames for our tables to put food instructions in http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/30151035/ which I will print off. They're good as they're double sided and stand up easy.

Hessian and raffia are both pretty cheap and will be good to decorate things with. Bunting is another good idea. Paperchains look cute too, and easy and cheap. I think candles would be lovely, check you're allowed them as not all venue do allow them. I wouldn't think it was weird to have them lit though. I'd maybe look out for cheap things in charity shops to use as centrepieces like mismatched vases and bowls to put your candles in, and wrap some with hessian/raffia/ribbon/lace. You don't need a lot of decorations, that's the good thing about rustic!

FutureCooper I just spotted on another thread that you are making paper pom poms - how is it going? I'm planning to make some myself but is it hard? Or will I end up buying them?

    tub of haribo hearts
    tub of fizzy cola bottles
    60 freddo bars
    huge jar of fudge
    huge bag of marshamallow
    tub of chocolate raisins

We have got a lot of sweets! Oh did laugh when we started as the first few I picked up were a pinky colour!!:D. We will have about 80 guests in the evening, I want everyone to be able to have a reasonable sized bagful. I do think aswell although it looks at the mo by the time they are put in bowls and jars it wont look many.

She isnt good to go shopping with, so I had nominated a couple of her friends to go with her, well she was looking on her catalogue the other day and saw a dress she quite liked, so ordered it and loves it!:D Im so pleased as I know she wasnt looking forward to trying to find an outfit, and she kept saying cant wait to show me, Im so pleased she is going to look and feel fab as she does lack confidence sometimes.:D

Sooooo easy to make. I have brought loads of different shades of purple tissue paper off ebay. I used 8 sheets per ball and some are going to be big approx 15" round and others about 10". I'll try and find a good link on how to do them. I am hanging them from beams in the venue hall.

My venue is very much village hall like and i am seriously skint!! Paper pom poms are easy, cheap and look great hung from walls or ceiling. You can also make fab bunting from coloured paper, its cheaper than material and you just staple it on to ribbon so no sewing required. I would cut the paper with pinking shears for a good edge though. I am also doing jam jars and tine with cheap seasonal flower heads in them.
