You could have a look here
http://www.weddingrings-direct.com/show_cat/shaped_wedding_rings/88/
sorry if it was someone on here who posted that link in the first place, can't remember where I got it from lol but I obviously thought it might come in useful!
They do both plain shaped rings and ones with diamonds and things in, some wierd and wonderful ones on there! Also depending on the shape of your eng ring, the shaped wedding band might look ok without having to have a diamond in because the shape would do the talking IYSWIM? Some of them are quite pretty.

Oh and apparently you can order samples too to test against your ring

My engagement ring is this one http://www.hsamuel.co.uk/webstore/d/6485758/9ct+white+gold+sapphire+and+diamond+twist+ring/
(chosen because I wanted blue and white to match my football team haha but shhh don't tell him!) so it is slightly curved, I need to borrow a plain ring to see if it will fit normally.
He's just told me it was half that price when he bought it :rotfl::money:

Oh ill have to have a look at that link, thing is ive recently discovered my engagement ring is 18k which means really I should get an 18k wedding ring if they sit next to each other which obviously puts the cost up.
Oh your ring is lovely. What team do you support then?
ok, ive been searching and this is the closest I can find to mine, but mine is yellow gold and was from ernest jones:

Im off to look at the rings on the site that you suggested (which is actually the same site Ive just linked with the similar ring to mine!!)0 -
Re: glue - I'm not gluing any embellishments. I got the UHU glue because like you say it's better than pritstick, and I'm gluing paper on paper (or card on card) and plan on covering the whole thing with glue - I didn't want to use a runny glue that would soak into the paper and make it go all wrinkly type thing. Bit kicking myself really cause PDA do sticky back printable white paper that I could have used... albeit would have been far more expensive.
Re: rings - I will wear my wedding ring on first - so I can take off my more delicate 'engagement' ring when doing things like washing up
(sorry it's a quick reply!)0 -
Going back to rings. The independent local jewelers we'll be using stocks these rings (reasonably priced if you ask me) https://www.phrings.com they do plain bands with little ellipse cut out so it will sit flush to your engagement ring.
Emma - about your grans ring. These are the questions I asked myself before deciding to break my grandma's engagement ring and use the stone for my 30th birthday ring. Do you /can you wear it now as it is? (I couldn't - at the time it was too small - I could do now I've lost weight, I wouldn't cause it was yellow gold which doesn't suit my skin colouring). Will it sit in a drawer forgotten about for years? (Yes - in fact it would have been sat in a drawer until I die really). Would she like having something of hers made into something of mine that I could cherish? (hell yes). Would I get more enjoyment from the new ring? (yes and the fact that I'm carrying around something that she loved so dearly means so much to me). ... and the one that caused me the most angst - and the one I made MrD swear on his life - Is the new ring for keeps? I told MrD I wasn't going to break up my grandma's ring - create a new wonderful ring, if we were going to be splitting up anytime ever. lol We had been together for 10-11 years when my ring was made so it wasn't likely to happen! When I got it I did shed a tear.

I had a look on thw weddng rings direct website and a ring to fit around mine would work out about £450, which is too much, I then went onto a local jewellers site (who I got their name from a local wedding fayre) and you can have a play on her website and pick the features of your ring and an 18k band worked out bout £320, so I have emailed her to ask if it would be more expensive to have it shaped- so im just waiting on a reply. Still would be over budget but if it would give me exactly what I want then I reckon we could stretch to it.
Ref my grans wedding ring- it is stored away and no i cant wear it as it is massive. I will wait until I get reply from the jewellers then take it from there.
Natalie- you ring is lovely.0 -
well ive had a reply from the person about a shaped ring and it was way too expensive, she did say I could have a normal band and part out out but I dont like that idea for 2 reasons- if I every wanted to wear just my wedding ring it wouldnt look right on its own, and it would mean having a thicker band than I want so I think im ruling out the idea of having my 2 rings on the same hand together.
I am now thinking though theres a few really nice rings that I like in Goldsmiths so if closer to the time we have a reasonable amount of tesco vouchers I could possibly put a chunk of them towards it. I think wedding rings is the thing that is causing me the biggest headaches.
Are your h2bs having wedding rings?0 -
I don't yet know if MrD is getting a ring - lol I have told him he has to decide by Christmas - when I propose we buy them... well possibly in the January sales (not sure if the jeweler we'll use has sales on). I will be surprised if he does lol but then he's full of surprises (like wanting to wear a jacket with his suit!!)
I think I'm lucky cause my ring is fairly flat so a bog standard wedding ring will sit against it nicely. In fact all I want is a ring the same as the band from my 30th ring
. The only problem will be it's cost cause it'll have to be 18K white gold so they can sit next to each other without wearing each other away. Lol am tempted to buy it now though cause the price of gold just seems to go up and up and up!
