PS I think MrD's mum is probably right - I will probably ask my granddad to walk me down the aisle (lol please note - I won't be asked to be given away!). I suspect he'd be delighted too and it gives me moral support!0

Oh and I've decided I am going to copy all my thoughts on here and save them into a word doc then after the wedding I will print them all out and have a memento of the planning0
-
oh those decorations are both very nice.
Thats a good idea about the planning word document, and it would then give you a momento/ keepsake of what you spent the last however many months doing!! At the mo all my paperwork (booking receipts etc) are are in a folder, when the wedding is over I will use my post box as my keepsake box for all my bits- just as a little reminder for years to come.
Im sure your grandad would be so proud to walk you down the aisle.
I cant think of anything wedding to keep me occupied at the mo! Hopefully ill think of a few things to keep me occupied monday and tues, back to work weds! Only have 7 days at this month though!!0 -
Mrs D.. your plans sound lovely!!! i wish i could do something like that! I have a big ish garden but not that big. i dont think id fit all of the guests in it! lol. x0

Thanks Laura - in a way though it's been a blessing cause it's meant we're fixed to how many people we can invite - so really only those we really want to be there are invited. We haven't really got anyone we're inviting that we're inviting cause we have to. (If that makes sense). We're only inviting 50 people. - some I know won't be able to come so I'm hoping to be able to invite a few extra in the second round of invites.0

MrD will think I'm mad when he gets back from his mums. So far today I have been preparing the 44 paper heart garlands. Lol. I have made up one (which I'll take a photo of later), have got another 7's strips cut and stapled together at the top of the heart so the day before I can just staple the bottom. It's such a long tedious job!! Who on earth thought self-decoration would be a good idea?! By the day is out I will have cut: 426 strips of 2.5cm wide card from sheets of A4!! The bonus is I have managed to save 11 off cuts that will be able to use towards some of the invites0

Natalie- definately show us pics- sounds like your having such a fun day!!:rotfl:
Your very lucky that you can use the size of your garden as a way of limiting numbers- we are limited to about 40 for our ceremony so thats been quite lucky as these people will then come to our reception venue and then everyone else can arrive later.
Ive had quite a successful day in that after talking to my mum and us writing down some ideas and price estimates I think that after the wedding we will invite the day guests to the reception venue and we are going to put on a little bit of food- but I dont want the traditional sit down, but i didnt want a proper buffet so i think we are going to get some cook meat platters (the local butchers will do these for a reasonable price- ham, beek, maybe turkey and stuffing), some french sticks, cheese, smoked salmon, things like some prawns, salad, potato salad, coleslaw, some (but not loads) sandwiches. As everyone is close family and friends i can let them know beforehand that it wont be a proper formal meal- and im sure they will understand. Evening will either be a buffet provided by the venue- im hoping a mixture of hot and cold bits or possibly a hog roast. If people get hungry theres a mcdonalds or harvester down the road!!!:rotfl:0 -
I guess all the hard work you put in is the payment you make for it as its cheaper then buying.... the joys...
I rang another wedding reception venue (local hotel/pub) today they said they where really busy and would call me back that was at 2pm today. am i been really impatient or should i expect a call back tomorrow or even later in the week? x0 -
Hiya guys - Laura I would possibly wait till tomorrow - when people are at work and hence not in a hotel/pub drinking in the sun - lol although the ability to wait is not a strength of mine!
I have made 44 'paper hearts' that will hang around our garden. They just need one more staple each. This lot cost me £8.94 in materials. This would have cost £96.58 if I'd bought the ones on Etsy that I based these on.
Okay here are some photos:
This is one I've made up completely just to show MrD what it will look like:
These are the 44 'strips' I've made - these need just one more staple which I can do closer to the day - that way I'm not having to worry about storing them:
And this lot shows how I will put that final staple in to create the heart:0 -
Laura- fingers crossed they will ring you soon- i hate that feeling of waiting- ive been emailing people about various things and I get so inpatient I check my emails like every 5 seconds!!:rotfl:
Natalie- they look fab- and have worked out such a bargain- you should be very pleasesd with yourself.
Well I just told my sister my idea for food for day guests and she agreed it would be nice so I have hers and my oh approval so think thats what we will go for- me and my mum reckon we could do that for about £100 (maybe £120-£150 depending how much prices go up) so that would then give me a reasonable amount of money left for the evening food. I like this idea cos I can then still have a seating plan and we can still have speeches and toasts etc but it wont be costing us loads- and we would be getting what we (well me, miss fussy) want!!0
