Lol I'm exactly the same about wanting to see my dress tea length!! (Mine is someway between my knees and my feet... lol knowing me I'll have picked the completely wrong place for it to end bearing in mine everything Gok Wan says about skirts stopping at your widest part rotfl:... are you the same as me - really worried about it at the same time just in case it looks ridiculous and the whole dress is ruined?! I definitely want a tea-length dress - I can't have a garden party in a full gown... but part of me is really worried incase it will look like I'd hacked the bottom off and will look stupid.
And yep four months to loose a stone is very doable. I think they say 1 stone is normally 1 dress size. (I found when I lost 3 sizes when I lost near 4 stones going from a 14/16 to an 8/10)). So yes I would say 1 stone would easily be 0.5 inches.

    :j:T:j:T:j:T:j:T

I have 'Gok Wan' type nightmares about the length of my dress. I know i am lucky in that as big as I am I do not have cankles or big calves but what if i get the cut wrong. Like you and Gok say i could end up making my calves look suddenly fat by having the wrong length :o. I am worried i could ruin a perfectly good dress that was designed to be floor length . . . . hence the reason i just want to get it altered now so i still leave myself emergency time to get another dress if i really have to. *Probably shouldn't even joke about this, H2B has said the fact i do actually have 2 dresses already that i am not even allowed to look at anymore.
That is why i sighed a big sigh of relief when i booked the seamstress as she was very knowledgeable and had some great suggestions on the alterations and how to make it 'work'. I have confidence in her that she'll get it right.

I am also working on the principle that 1 stone is a dress size. Since last July i have lost 19lb and I have dropped a dress size so i need to lose at least 1 more. Pass the fruit bowl someone, this bride has a dress to get into too :rotfl:

    Hi all *slinks back in*

I haven't been here in a couple of days, I weighed in on Tuesday and got a shock. TEN AND A HALF STONE  That is the heaviest I've ever been. :(:(

I cried a little bit, then spent some time thinking about how I'd got here, and why. Then I reminded myself that I am only going to have ONE opportunity to wear my amazing wedding dress and I don't want to look like a fat frump! So that's it. I'm giving up alcohol for the next two weeks to see if that helps, and I am off chocolate!!!! Please let me stick at it this time! :o

  • Melanie- Im sure your dress will look amazing at the length you have chosen.

Wanchai- you can do it! Just before christmas I was in the same place as you- I was back to weighing the most I have ever weighed (I lost a stone about 2 years ago and said I wouldnt go back to putting it all back on again- and I did gradually). Something seems to have clicked at the moment and it seems to be working and im being very good (with the odd treat), if I can do it im sure you can (im such a grazer and I love chocolate, cake and anything that is bad for me!!:D). Good luck, im sure you are going to look amazing in your dress.

    Hi ladies,

I haven't been on here in ages - I must catch up on all the gossip! Wanchai - I know how you feel :( I have my first dress fitting on Saturday and wanted to lose a few pounds for it, but so far all I have managed to do is lose the 5lbs I put on over Christmas so I'm just back to square 1. I'm really disappointed in myself that I didn't try harder.

Ho hum! We'll get there I'm sure - I'll do my Shred DVD tonight.

On a more constructive note - I started a new thread to let people know about the free printables I found and I thought I would post it here to make sure that you ladies saw it.

    http://www.weddingchicks.com/freebies/invitation-suites/

Basically you can choose what suite of stationery you like - most include invitations, save the dates, rsvp's, thank you's etc. - there are about 13 different suites there at the moment. Then you choose your colours, enter your text and the rest is done for you. It opens the image in a new window and then you just save the image to print at home or using vistaprint or whatever.

There are some nice designs too - retro, bunting, monogram etc. I like the one with all the hearts - I think I'll use it for my save the dates and print as a postcard. Very MSE! :)
  • Wanchai - We all feel your pain. I think the realisation of being 2012 now and my wedding is this actual year(!) has helped me stay focused. Remember hun you didn't put the weight on overnight so it won't go overnight. As we have spoke about before on here its not how fast you get to your destination its just arriving safe! So your on the Country route at the moment and stopping on the way for the odd pub lunch but you'll still get there and you do have 5/6 months until the photos of a lifetime. We'll all help you where we can and accept a dodgy hug :grouphug: to help along the way x

OMG thank you soooo much, those printables are fab!!! :T

Oh hon, at least you lost those 5lbs!!!!!! So that's a positive. But I know how you feel :o Could you postpone your first fitting? Mine isn't until the start of May and I'll need those 3 months to make a dent in my weight loss!

Come on Wanchai - we CAN and WILL do it!! (When I weighed in on Tuesday I was 10st4 - but I had had 2 days of being good so had lost some bloatedness before that).
We are doing this together :) If I see you being naughty you may tempt me lol how's that for peer pressure!! Just think every time you want to eat something 'naughty' how you will feel when on Tuesday I get a better weight loss? Lol (No pressure there then ha!)
I have now had 4 days (am on day 5) of being good. I've been keeping a little diary of what I've eaten - I am also beginning to plan my teas in advance as well instead of just 'what shall we have tonight'. That's helping to reduce the 'can't be arsed to cook' thing. I'm also preparing double amount of veggies at a time so we only have them to do on alternate nights - that is the one thing I have about cooking - doing the veggies - especially as we go through so much! (A typical night's tea for the two of us would consist of 3 carrots, 2 1 inch slices of butternut squash, 2 corn on the cobs, 6 or 8 baby plum type tomatoes, 10-12 sprouts, about a third of a bag of fresh green beans, half a bag of fresh stringless beans and a red onion. It's sooo tedious!)
I'm not doing exercise properly yet - that really needs work on cause won't lose weight without it (well I will just a lot slower). Went to Body Balance tonight though - love that.
  • We will be skinny brides who will look back on our photos with pride at how well we all did!:D WE CAN DO IT!!

Well I finally remembered to take my inserts to work to cut down so over the weekend I will be finishing the invites- I couldnt do it tonight as I was at mil2bs having my hair coloured!

Wanchai- just think in 3 months thats roughly 12 weeks you could aim for 1lb a week which is doable and that would be just under a stone for your first fitting.

Oh thanks lovecake- must have a look at that and see if I can get inspiration for my thank you cards.
