Even if we are going to be spending most of it on a boat :rotfl:

You will probably be best popping into a travel agent or asking on the holiday board. When we were looking into ours I originally wanted to go to Mexico, or Cuba or somewhere like that but its the hurricane season (although Im sure some people still go and have a lovely time), and the indian ocean has its Monsoon season August time, but im sure there must be places that has lovely weather outside of Europe.
We then decided to stay a bit closer to home so looked at Paphos, Cape Verde and Turkey, and originally Turkey didnt appeal to me but when we found our hotel and saw the trip adivisor reviews it swayed me, and I cant wait!!0 -
Oh man!! Just wrote a massive post and lost it! Grrrr! Merry Christmas everyone! Looking back at your posts over the last few days it seems as though you all got spoiled - quite right too!
We got some new bedroom furniture from our folks which was super generous of them - We are trying to do the flat up a bit because I will be getting ready here on the big day and so will be having pre-wedding photos of me, mum and BM's in our flat. We both got a Kindle and some lovely espresso cups and saucers and some matching side plates. I also got new PJ's, new socks (you have to get socks right? It's the law or something...:rotfl:), Soap and Glory smellies, nail varnishes and make-up, DVD's (including Bridemaids - sooooo funny!) and a hamper full of lots of naughty biscuits, choccies, sweets etc which is not helping with the fact that the dress maker is taking my measurements for the dress on the 4th of Feb!! Eek! But yeah - we did well this year!
Looks like everyone is doing well with wedding bits and bobs and honeymoon planning! Well done ladies!
I haven't done much tbh - but I have booked a trial with a make-up lady. I'm undecided, although I have budgeted for it for me and the BMs - but then I think maybe I should put the money towards something else...The bridezilla in me would like to control what style of make-up my BMs wear and how much (I think it's tempting to go OTT for weddings and I don't want them to look like they are going on a night out!)
I'm swaying towards doing it for a few reasons
a) because I'd love to have that 'flawless' look in the wedding pics and it would hopefully last longer than if I did it myself
b)One of my BMs hardly ever wears make-up and I don't think she's know where to start so I'd be stressing about how it would turn out if she did it herself
c) My Chief BM wears A LOT of make-up and is a fan of bright pink blusher so it would be good to avoid having to ask her to tone it down which could potentially cause an argument.
Sorry about the rantWhat do you guys think? Is it a waste of money or worth it to save me the stress on the day? Are any of you having your make-up done? Xx
P.S Wanchai - send me a link to your boards on Pinterest and we can follow each other!0 -
Lovecake- Im having my make up done. I may invest in some decent foundation for her to use but I think its a nice treat and I like the idea of just not doing much myself on the day. I have however got a fab price for mine- so it would ultimately depend on cost. I was looking for my friend this time last year and couldnt believe some of the quotes we got for wedding make up. I have decided though I dont want much (if any) blusher- its something Ive never worn, and I may put my eye line pencil in my bag and put more on in the evening (depending how much I have on in the day)
Sounds like you had a lovely christmas and got spoilt along with the rest of us.
Ive just paid for my first Kindle read- the real life of Downton abbey. Im trying to resist watching the christmas one because Ive made plans with my sister for next Sat- shes coming round to watch Downton and have a catch up (shes on holiday at the mo) and we will send our ohs to play golf!:D0 -
Good morning all.
Okay let's get it over and done with. This week I gained 4.5lbs. I have every faith that I will shed that by next Friday though so I'm not too upset by it.
Rachel - I agree with Emma, if you can afford it and have the money in the budget to afford getting yours and your bridesmaids' make up done then do it. Especially as it will save you stress and potential conflict!!
Wanchai - Summer Sun - we've only ever really gone to greek islands during the summer. My fave has got to be Kefalonia. Egypt will be sunny lol - people keep warning me how hot it'll be - to which I keep telling them we'll be underwater most of the time so I'm glad the sea will be like a bath!I can't think of anywhere else though. I am rubbish

Ooo just got my 2012 teaching union card through the post. In amongst all the bumph is a list of local discounts I can get with the card. :T the shop that stocks the Else Chianti shoe offers 10% off!!
That'd be a saving of £6.50!! Bargain!!
Now to just get a sample of my dress to check whether they are the right colour (or whether as I suspect) they are too ivory - BUT I have been doing research. There are some places out there that will bleach Else shoes white.
Argh I wish my dress would hurry up and be made so I can sort my shoes out!!
(Damn I wish I'd read this booklet sooner lol - my opticians is listed as well for 10% off!)0 -
Is it wrong that I keep wanting to have sneaky peeks of MrD's suit every time I walk past his wardrobe? lol. So far I have only succumbed about 1 in 3 passes (you walk past it to get to the bathroom/ensuite/only-toilet-in-the-house). Lol.
Ooo the last of our wine was delivered today :T0 -
Well Ive had a good day so far-
Firstly- showed mil2b the necklace I got and she thinks its perfect with my tiara, so just need to hope it goes with my dress- but Im sure it will.
Secondly got my flowergirl to try her dress on and 1) theres growing room so come July should fit her or may just need taking in slightly, but Im sure it wont be too small and 2) she looked so cute in it. It didnt drain her or anything- was a bit worried because its ivory and shes blonde and pale that it may not look right but it looked just lovely! Just need to make sure she doesnt outshine me!!
Natalie- Step away from MrDs suit!!:rotfl:
Oh and I braved the scales, I put on 2lbs- which I thought wasnt too bad considering all the chocolate and sweets and naughty stuff ive eaten!!0
