Ah it's been a very productive weekend! My bridesmaid's dress is now almost finished (subject to fitting and a couple of finishing touches) - it took forever!

  • I thought it had been quiet on here, Wanchai was missing! I thought it was because Natalie was busy getting ready for her diving holiday in 5/6 more sleeps!!!!!!

Emma -you centrepieces sound lovely. I like those tall vases and i like the fact that MIL is doing the work.

WXY - 2 photographers, well done

Natalie - i hope the weight loss is going well for you. I have had a sudden loss after staying around the same for the last 2 weeks. This mornings weigh in saw another 2lb loss, yay. Slow and steady . . . .i'm trying to tell myself its about the end goal not the race to get there. However i am terribly impatient and i want it gone now.

I have had BM (daughter) making paper pom poms for me this weekend but then after making half a dozen large ones and numerous small ones we realised we are going to have to find somewhere to store these until the wedding, a whole 40 weeks away, whoops. So they are going to get put in the loft. Paper should be okay up there.

I decided i am going to make some Xmas versions of the small pom poms out of wrapping paper and then decorate the tins with festive paper and glitter etc and give them to my work colleagues as a little gift instead of the usual chocolates we all buy. They can keep it on their desks for a while and not worry about it dying from lack of water or light!!! OOh Xmas . . . . my favourite time of year!
  • Welcome back Wanchai.

Alice- your bridesmaid dress is lovely. I must remember to add your blog to my faves when I get home. and :j on sorting out your photographers.

I think tonight Im going to order my postcard evening invites and rsvp cards from vistaprint, they are designed and in my cart, I just need oh to proof read them- and usually I dont get his full attention if hes playing his ps3 or into something on tv so I may ban him from doing anything until he checks them!! I know, Im so lucky that its her job so shes fab at making flower arrangements and bouquets- I will be posting pics when they are done! She did text to say they can order me in the extra roses I need as typical for me I picked a flower that is new in and so they only have 12 at the mo!

Well done on the weight loss, ok Im back on it, I had a slight blip that included a chinese and my mums homemade chocolate cake yesterday but ive been good so far, I could eat a bounty right now though! or a twix! or some strawberry haribos!

Oh and my dad is going to ask his work colleague how much she charges for her sweetie trees, they look fab and would finish my sweetie tables off perfectly, but obviously it depends mainly on cost! If they are too expensive does anyone have ideas how this could be made?

    BUT

Thanks for the welcome back ladies, OMG that sweet tree is just FAB - and Mrs Drink, whoop for your 9 month mark!!! :T:T

I will never catch up, but will have a read back to try to work out what you've all been up to!

I'm scared now that we have hardly anything donw, eek!

    So far we have:

    Booked church
Booked reception venue (paying deposit this week)
    Booked band and paid deposit
Booked photographer (we get two photographers which I am really happy about, I want all the candid snaps as well as the formal ones)

    That's it!!!

I still have to find a dress, I am really into a couple of dresses but not sure that any of them are 'THE dress'. I'm panicking a bit! And I have to get a veil, accessories and shoes, and underwear and who knows what else!!

What else is there to do?

(in no particular order, this is what springs to mind):

Finalise guest list and draw up seating plan
Decide whether to send STD cards
Design and print invitations, RSVPs, OOS, menus, table plan, any individual name cards
    Send invitations!!!
    Book honeymoon (lol)
    Buy wedding rings
Bridesmaid dress (she can wear her own shoes and possibly jewellery)
Ask friends to do favours (car, church singing)
Sort out cake - friend making it OR order M&S one
    Gifts for above
    Practicalities re marriage licence
Find out cost of church etc
    Book engagement shoot with photographer
    Arrange hen do (yippee)
    Finalise timings for the day
    Um... what else???

    I need to get organised!!!!!!!!

  • Natalie- Im feel jealous enough as it is that you seem to reach a month milestone really quick and mine seems to take ages to come around, I dread to think how slowly the 11 days between your wedding and mine will go!:D

I may attempt to make the sweetie trees if they are too much- at least it would be tasty and fun trying to make them!

Ok things from your list you havent mentioned that you may want to think about:
    Hair
    Make up
    Mens suits
    flowers
    decorations
Decide on food choices/ drink etc

Thats all I can think of so far.

mmm how to make the sweet tree.... well when I did a cake decorating course they used vodka as a glue. (doesn't leave a taste and sticks icing really well). You could try 'gluing' something like marshmallows to a stick of rock and then 'gluing' jelly tots to the marshmallows. No idea if it'd work. I seem to remember a thread a while back that had a discussion about sweet trees - maybe do a search and see what they came up with/decided on.

Lol I know I am very lucky that I'm one of the first to get married on this board... lol and even better cause then I can wait 4 days and get to party again :)

Am packing for our holiday - REALLY can't wait - but really hope this cold goes before then!
