Im sure whereever you go you will have a fab time.
I would be quite happy with a nice greek island, or there was a nice adults only hotel in gran canaria (I think it was) that looked good. I think we will wait till the prices come out and then work out what we want to spend and then decide from there.
I keep looking at the glitzy secrets tiara and think its the one- im hoping that as im in no rush a discount code will appear at some point (ive read they turn up every now and again).0 -

I say this but I may buy it at the end of the month to cheer myself up as I have to have a little op!!0 -
:T:j:T:j my cake stand came today!! I have jiggled about with different sized 'cheesecakes' to see how many I could it on, if it was big enough etc etc. I am really pleased with it. And for the price really couldn't be happier. (MrD was surprised that it was only £19.94 including postage. He said if I'd gone to somewhere selling plexiglass, what it's made out of, and asked for enough to make it, it'd cost a lot more. Very pleased!)
Anyway as promised here are some photos. This is the cakestand I've got:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180633474858#ht_3386wt_932
I haven't removed the protective film so it looks blue in the photos.
Okay so with 4.5cm squares of 'cheesecake' I would be able to fit 81 pieces. We're having 60 guests, ish, so that really would be too many. Plus 4.5cm of cake really does look stingy!
So I then tried 5.5cm squares. This would only give me 48 pieces. Now the company that I got the cakestand from say if you give them full marks feedback they will sell you extra tiers/rises at less than cost so I could get another tier which would bring it up to 68 pieces. However, I don't like the look of the second to top tier. It looks really bare.
So I then tried inbetween the two - 5cm. This gives me 64 pieces - perfect! It does mean cutting a little bit off the rises between the second to top, and top tiers. Other wise the cakes would be arranged like the above photo (which I don't like). MrD says with a saw at his dads (can't remember which one he said lol) and some sandpaper it could be done.(Please note if you're having round cupcakes at 5cm diameter you probably wouldn't need to trim anything).
So this is what my cheesecakes and cake stand will look like (well you have to use your imagination lol).
In order to do this I will need 16 cheesecakes (can get 4 x 5cm squares from one cheesecake). I am thinking of getting a newyork (vanilla) cheesecake then I can add some fruit on the top. Tescos do a frozen one for £2 each. So all in all the cake stand, and 16 cheese cakes will have cost £51.94. Plus something like a punnet of strawberries to slice and place on top. So I should be able to do our wedding cake for £60.0 -
that looks and sounds very organised and is a brill idea MrsDrink.
I am currently typing this sat in bed as have damaged my back, but gives me a chance to look at more wedding stuff, not that there is much more I can do at this point.
As of next month I can start looking at the Honeymoon. We are either going for a cruise of a break in the med. We can get a cruise quite cheap as we both work for the company so as long as one fits in with our dates that is the plan. We can only do 7/10 nights as it is my Dads 60th birthday on 12th August and he is having a party. xxx0 -
So did you get much wedding-y things researched/planned tfutcher?
I have been to Hairspray the musical - it was fabulous!!0 -
Thanks for the cupcake stand pictures. I was thinking of going for a 5 tier round stand but now im not sure if I would need more tiers as Im thinking of having 2 lots of these (if they are still around next july):
http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-Strawberry-Cupcakes/dp/B003J3MXKK?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_3&nodeId=77003031&sr=1-3&qid=1299401816&pf_rd_r=1K3VDHRE3NJCW34DVYCS&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=77003031&pf_rd_p=215570647&pf_rd_s=related-items-3
and a small fruit cake to go on top, but I have no idea how big the cupcakes are.
Hope your back is better soon tfutcher.0 -
I think I have found the favours and all the table decorations. I have also decided on a wooden rose bouquet. Look lovely and saves alot of money.
How is everyone elses planning going? xx0 -
Emma, annoyingly M&S don't say how wide each cupcake are! Else I'd have offered to cut out some circles so you could see what they'd look like. Supposing they are 5.5cm wide (the largest of my squares) 48 of them would fit on the 5 tier stand as it is. I would imagine 2 more tiers would easily fit another 48 on (the bottom tier of the stand holds 20 5.5cm, and tier 6 & 7 would be bigger and fit more on. Hope that helps!
Ooo that is good planning tfutcher - getting yoru favours and table decs sortedPiccies?
Looking at another thread about paper tissue pompoms - I *might* be temped by these -but I suspect they would be more expensive than good old fashioned balloons.0
