Hehe, it is funny how we all met our men after a few drinks in a nightclub.
Natalie- I know what you mean about meeting 'the one' when you were so young, I just think im so lucky as I would hate to be trying to find someone now. I was only 17 when I met my oh. My friend was chatting to his friend and I was on my own so started talking to him, took his number when we were leaving, and was going to delete it the next day- till my friend persuaded me to text him, then the rest is history and weve been together ever since- I couldnt think of anyone who would be more perfectly matched for me.0 -
I met OH down the pub!:rotfl:I was there with some friends and OH says he saw us standing at the bar and like my bum the best:shocked:! I even asked for his number first and i thought he after another girl so thought id better get in there first:rotfl:So, got his number then a group of us went to a snooker place (didnt want to go but thought OH was going so went) but he stayed at the pub with this girl. Got to the snooker place and was talking to a friend about OH and she said text him so i did asking if he was coming and he said yes just waiting for this girl to finish work. So they both arrived so me and OH talked, then we went back to a friends house and we ended chatting all night, he took me home and said he would text me to arrange meeting up later that day. I didnt think he would but a hour later he text and we meet up again, got a DVD went back to his and i fell asleep whilst watching the DVD and i even starting snoring!!:rotfl:
(This girl was only a friend of his!lol)
I was 18 when i met OH.
Nice hearing how you all meet your OH!
OH is allowing me to have my teeth whitened for the wedding. So just need to find out how much that will be:D0 -
I met my OH at work. He had a long term girlfriend at the time. We both really liked each other but as he had a girlfriend I backed off. When they broke up we got together 6 months later and have never looked back. As my friends say I was the exception and not the rule (from the movie Hes just not that interested in you)
Today we booked the harpist for the ceremony. As we are not having a church wedding my parents wanted something to make it special and we agreed on a harpist. It is really romantic and is not something I would have thought of (or been able to afford) without my parents. They have been so much help already.0 -
:T yay more stories about how we met! Cor didn't we some of us meet our OHs when we were 'young'. (Lol if you'd told me when I was 19 that I was 'young' I'd more likely than not slapped you).
tfutcher - a harpist? Oh how lovely that sounds!! Very elegant and softin fact I am rather jealous!! Someone on another thread was talking about saxophonist (lol is that a real word?) and I'm jealous about that too!! Lol think of me with my iPod
(cheap skate = me! ha!)
How has everyone's days been? I've actually had a lovely day today - started working with a child for the first time and he was a real poppet. Nice to restore your faith in littlies! (NOT that I want my own pmsl - it was hard enough to persuade MrD to get married to me, lol don't think I'd ever be able to change his mind about babies! :rotfl:)0 -
*smug feeling* I just popped onto Ryan Air to see how much the flights I've booked us for Tenerife in October would cost us today... and they are £80 more
(Lol why do I keep checking?! I bet the next time I check the prices drop and I kick myself for being so impatient!)
Well I have had a few emails with the chair place - the price £30 is for 20 chairs for upto three days. So they won't lower the price if we actually only have them for two. BUT they charge £10 for delivery/collection. We could save this by collecting them ourselves on the Saturday before the party, and return them on the Sunday, but for the extra faff and the diesel it'd cost to get there and back twice, we might as well pay the extra £10. The smallest marquee they do nearly covers our whole back garden lol. MrD said yesterday "I thought we were going to have a marquee" so I've been looking at prices, that could add another £130ish to our budget... my attitude is if it rains everyone can come inside! (Where they'd all fit I don't know lol). I did suggest to him though - asking any of his bike racing friends that have gala tents whether they'd let us borrow it for the weekend. Anyway the lady who I've been emailing about the chair seems lovely - responds within 30 mins of my emails so she seems really reliable. (Lol famous last words!) I've told her that at the moment I can't book them (explained the car expenses) but that we'll probably go with them cause I'm impressed with their service so far.
I'm waffling again aren't I?! (lol it's no wonder we're already on page 13 of our thread.... I dread to think how many we'll be on come July 2012!)
Anyway I'm sat here in lovely heating - and I'm so hot I've had to change clothes into a summer dress!!0 -
Im liking all the stories of how we all met our ohs!!
tfutcher- im very jealous of the harpist. there was a couple at the wedding fair i went to but I cant quite see my oh agreeing so didnt enquire!!
Natalie- sounds like you did well on the flights then, sounds like you booked them at the right time. ANd thats a very good price for the chairs.
Well i have a well deserved day off tomorrow and have to wait in for a delivery- im thinking it will be a very wedding orientated research day!!:D
Oh and we must be a chatty bunch as I dont think we are that far behind the july 2011 posts and they are a year ahead of us:rotfl:
And LauraLou, thats good about the teeth whitening.0 -
Ooo I forgot about the teeth whitening - cor LauraL, you are braver than me - I really am such a wuss when it comes to anything teeth related. (I'm sat here with my lips well and truly zipped together!!) The idea to going to a dentist/dental hygienist freaks me out cause I know they'd tell me off. (Lol I'm waiting for my wisdom teeth to come through fully so they don't go threatening to pull them out lol).
Ooo Emma - you will have to share everything you research tomorrow! I have started looking at make up/hair styles - with the hair I'll probably just have my normal curly red do but make the curls more defined with my curling wand. Make up - I've been watching loads of tutorials on youtube - any of you heard of Lauren Luke? She started off by just doing eye shadow tutorials, I saw her on This Morning ages ago, - she now has her own cosmetics range out!0 -
Thanks for talking about teeth- youve reminded me I must check when my next dentist appointment is- im sure it next week!!
Ive been looking at hair styles- but mainly so i can get an idea of tiaras- as I wasnt sure if how I want my hair would go with the tiaras ive seen- especially the glitzy secrets one which is my fave at the mo!!I havent heard of her- but guess what ill be googling tomorrow!!:rotfl:I may ring the caterers attached to the venue aswell tomorrow and start getting an idea of what they can do and prices.0 -
Just for poops and giggles I have just had a look online to see how much it'd cost us to hire our nearest hotel for a typical (the cheapest they do) wedding reception.
Venue hire: £175. (from 6pm till midnight, other wise £300 for 9am-midnight)
Table decorations: £45 per table, £85 for the top table (are allowed to bring your own). (Based on 60 guests, 8 at each table = 8 tables needed plus top table = £445.)
Drinks: £16.95 per person for a glass of pimms, 2 glasses of wine, and a glass of sparkling wine. (Based on 40 drinkers = £678)
Disco: £275 (not allowed to bring your own).
Food: £11.95 per person for a light buffet (Based on 60 guests = £717). And this is the cheapest option - the most expensive is £43 per person (Based on 60 guests = £2580!)
Total before VAT= £2290.
Including VAT = £2748!!!
And that is done the cheapest they'd do it at, at today's prices. That is over my budget, and doesn't include anything like wedding outfits, bridal party flowers, stationery, rings, registry, notice! I'm godsmacked!0 -
wow- thats almost my whole budget! I think I could just about have my dress and shoes aswell if my venue was that much!:rotfl:0
