How big is your garden? Have you got any outdoor lights already out there?
Are you having many tables and if so would you be looking to have decorations on them? Hve you got any children going (am thinking you can get some lovely tea light lanterns but may not want to if there are young kids there?0 -
Garden is 30ft square of grass plus a bit of patio, and down the side of the house and front garden.
Tables? Erm wasn't planning on having them. (I think everyone can eat their finger buffet off their laps). Chairs - haven't really made a decision on that yet. They seem so bloomin expensive and I'm wondering if we can get enough for the oldies to sit on.
Outside lighting - we have two lights on the wall at the back of the house that light up the patio nicely. And we have a large fire pit that will give off some light.
Kids? I'm hoping not lol. Our garden is known for not being kid friendly (5ft deep koi pond). So I'm hoping responsible parents of young children will either not come or will find a baby sitter.
I was thinking of getting some cute cream tea light lanterns but not sure how many I'd need to light enough area for people to see.
Thank god we're doing this in July when the nights are lighter!
(PS Thank you for helping!! Did you see my last PM about pink sparkly bits?)
*edit*
Lol our garden really doesn't sound big enough to hold 60 guests!! The house will be open as well - so I guess I should think about some decoration for that as well. Damn expenses!0 -
Sounds like lighting wise you would be ok then, so I guess anything else would be more about decoration than actual lighting.
If you arent having kids and had a path that you wanted lighting up, or around the fish pond something like this this would look nice and would give you extra light

You can get them cheaper on ebay but i used this example as it shows pictures of how they look when you light them.
One thing I saw at the wedding fair that my mil2b said would be easy to make that im considering having for the tables, that would like nice scattered around where the food is to add a little bit of decoration and also would bring the garden party indoors was small artifical flowers in silicone cupcake cases- a bit like this, but not on the stand
Indoors you could just have some balloons, maybe a little bit of bunting or some fairy lights.
When i think of some more ideas ill post them.
Yes I did, sorry I forgot to reply, i did like that but would like pearl in it aswell, may have to see if I can find something with pink and pearl in it.0 -
I'll keep my eye out for pinky pearly twinklies.
I like those little lanterns. They look classy compared to the cheap-every-day-garden-party-torches.Thank you!
Ooo I could do some flowery things around the buffet - using the same flowers as I'll get for the bouquet and button holes.so now I'm on the hunt for bunting that'll tie everything in

You can get 10 for about a fiver on ebay, so if you did go for them its best to have a look about on ebay and compare prices. I thought they were nice as they were a bit different.
You could also get a nice vase and put your bouquet on a table or by the food aswell (if you still have it.)
would you make the bunting yourself or get some ready made?0 -
Depends how much it'd cost to make vs how much buy it pre-made.
Yes I'd probably still have the bouquet for the party - I think I'd take it to my Grandmas grave the weekend after. (I would say the day after but I may be nursing a hangover/too busy tidying the house lol).
I would like some shepherd lanterns though - lol shame they are so expensive!! (Nice 'silver' modern ones, rather than the black traditional ones).0 -
Oh they are really nice- and a good price. And they are something that can be used again.0

So how is everyone doing? I'm successfully avoiding doing my OU assignment.
We're sat basking in the heat from our new central heating lol.. and I've spent the morning researching decorations (and downstairs toilets lol). We'll be decorating 3 downstairs rooms, the backgarden and the path to it. So I was thinking 'cloud 9' balloons in each corner of the rooms/backgarden, and two down each path - that comes to 22. So I'd need 99 Red balloons, and 99 White/Ivory ones (I'm thinking for ease my dress should be white lol). I will get 10 bamboo garden torches to put around the bottom of the garden/paths around the side of the house. And on their stalks I will tie some big red ribbons to tie them into the theme. (I did think about ribbon between the balloons but the meter-age would be so long it'd cost a fortune!) I *think* that'll be enough... lol well we'll see when I get round to ordering it all whether it'll be enough. The cloud 9 balloons will be fairly big, so they'll cover quite a bit. I'm not sure if bunting will 'go' with the rest of the decorations - and it seems it'd be a fortune to either buy or make myself. But so far the planned decorations come to around £55, my budget is £100 so I still have a little bit to play with.
Right I guess I should get back to it... The OU work I mean not the online window shopping lol!0 -
Heh heh incase you can't tell - I've finished my assignment - lol it was rubbish!! Hopefully it'll pass though!
So now I'm back to googling weddings lol. My new favourite past time! Cor what are we going to do in 18 months time when it's all over?!0
