Been to parent in laws (2be!) They are going to come to the hotel wedding farye in April, which will be nice so we can so show them around the hotel!
Emma could i please have at look at your tiara:)!
natalie i do like those lanterns that emma found on ebay. For seating could you maybe ask some people to bring chairs with them?! Bunting are a good idea. Someone i 'know' on mse has started bunting again i could find out how much it would be? How about some heart shape candles? I know you said you are getting 'cloud 9' balloons, see how much it would be for heart shape balloons, or you could get a just married balloon and put it on the front door?!0 -
Oh yes please ask.
See part of me thought if I started making some now by the time we have the party we might actually have enough lol. :rotfl: The seating - I did think about asking everyone to bring a chair lol but then the OCDy-ness in me started to have hives because they won't match lol. (I am debating between hiring some that are the same, or trying to find chair covers to fit everyone's higglydepigglyde ones and run around collecting everyone's chairs all before the party and returning them afterwards. MrD hasn't really said anything in this respect! I am a bit loathe to pay for hired chairs or chair covers though.. at the moment the scrooge in me is beating the OCD in me lol.
:T That your in-laws-to-be are going to the hotel's wedding fayre with you. It's really hard (I think) to keep the in-laws involved. Cause the brides family do so much. I'm having to remember to talk to MrD's mum about the wedding and keep her informed of the decisions we're making (cause she won't ask in fear of being perceived as interfering). I think it's sad cause he really is a mummy's boy (he's round there now as I type this - luckily they only live round the block so he can pop round any time). So it is lovely that you are taking them to see the hotel.0 -
:rotfl:at the OCD. i totally understand i think my OCD would go mad!Things do need match:rotfl:!
Yeah it is hard to keep in laws involved. Im going to ask MIL (when i have my dress) if would like to come see it.:)0 -
9th July 2012 groom here :j
all going well so far and have a lot of things sorted. However, I'm sick of photographers  they walk around snapping merrily then charge the earth for the priviledge.0 -
Hurrah for a groom!
And you're the first of us (so far) who will get married! :J
I can't believe how much anything 'weddingy' costs. It's a licence to print money!
I have sent off a couple of emails to some marquee places to see how much they'd charge for just hiring chairs. They claim to do bog standard white chairs (I'm not a chair snob - lol as long as they are all identical) for less than £2 each, but I don't know if that is only when hiring a marquee as well. The next thing to decide is how many chairs to hire... given we're not having any formal sit down meal, and there will be loads of perching places (like on the wall around the koi pond), in the house etc. Then there is also the space they take up! I was thinking of 20 for 60 guests but I may be way off. What do you guys think?0 -
Welcome Dave_J.
Natalie- I think numbers of chairs depends on things like: how long you estimate the party will last, and also if you have many 'older' guests who cant stand for long.
Laura- ill pm you.0 -
Yea see that's what I was thinking too. I dunno how long the party'll last for - lol hopefully not into the small hours of the night - but if it does those of us left'll retire into the house (so the chairs won't be being used). Okay guest wise - so far (not finalised) there is a potential: 2 OAPs (my granddad and our neighbour), 18 Old Farts (parents, and aunties/uncles), 23 Middle Aged (those our age: friends, work colleages) and 14 kiddie winks (I seriously hope this number will be reduced - like I said our garden is not kid particularly kid friendly, although there is only 3 of these 14 kids that I could see being problematic with the pond). So that is 20 OAP & Old Farts that would need a chair. 23 Middle Aged that could prop up a wall, and 14 Kiddie Winks that can sit on the grass. No idea whether we'd fit 20 chairs in our garden lol.0
-
Although if you only need a total of 20ish 'proper' chairs would they all need to be in the garden anyway? Or would you have some indoors anyway and therefore only need say 15 or something in the garden?
I started to do a bit of a guest list today. My family isnt that big, but is is compared to my ohs, so its going to be a case of getting the right balance- luckily we can only have about 40 for the ceremony so this will help me limit day guests.
Ive found annother tiara I lke aswell, well i saw it a while ago but the more I see it I like it, but i think ill wait till i decide how im having my hair then i can see what style tiara would look better.0 -
Ooo send me a PM with another piccie!! Lol
I do love this thread. I'm going to miss it during the next half term lol. I have been rereading all our posts this week - Emma it's you that is having a photobooth aren't you? Love that idea - after seeing photos on here (can't remember the girls name) I'm almost tempted to set my camera up on it's tripod, get a backdrop of some sort, and set it onto a timer for people to use.
My guest list isn't completed - yet. It has all the people *I* think we should invited lol. But MrD needs to decide who else from his side of the family (how strange does that sound) he would like to invite. Lol I have added some of his lot on my list already lol. As it stands: Ceremony: my guests - 11, his guests 6. Party: my guests - a further 18, his guests - a further 16, joint guests (the neighbours) - 6. Cor I didn't realise I've actually got more to invite than him!! I didn't expect that cause his family are huge!
And you are very right - all 20 old farts don't need to sit outside - I could plonk some chairs in the 'dining room' (lol it doesn't actually have a table or chairs in it - it really is Bunny's bedroom - it's where his cage is).0 -
Hey Natalie, ill pm you the other tiara.
Its not me (unfortunately) having the photobooth- I think it could be LauraLou. It was Fran-o that put some pics up recently including the photobooth- and the pic was fab.
I was trying to get an idea of guests numbers so when i finally start getting ideas for catering costs I know roughly how many guests I have to feed!0
