:) am off on a ebay hunt :D
  • Well with Natalies help i think i have found the bits I need to make something very similar to the tiara I love- will keep you updated on how it comes along!!

I am now back on the idea of getting the m and s cupcakes if they are still about when we get married as we could get 96 for £70 plus a stand from amazon for about £25 and then maybe just an iced fruit cake for the topper, was a bit unsure but then someone posted some pics on here and they had them and they looked nice and they all got eaten so must have been nice.

Hey guys :) I have just been given the greatest gift a girl could possibly want... central heating!! 2 Years 6 months ago we ripped out our poxy back boiler, (it was broken and only half the house had radiators anyway). We relied on a log burning stove, electric heaters and an electric blanket. Today MrD turned our new boiler on for the first time. All the radiators - in every room of the house - has heat coming from it!! I am the happiest girl in the world!! Who would have thought you could get so much joy from heat!! :D

Cupcake stands - have a look into these - so far I've found the cheapest to be ebay. :) There was a thread the other day about them - I put some links on there. What sort are you after? Acrylic or wire? (I would love a wire one but a) they are too expensive and b) they don't make them big enough that I've seen). I agree the M&S cupcakes did look nice on Fran's (I think) photos.
  • Oh I wrote a reply just now and managed to lose it!!

:j for finally getting central heating- i have no idea how you coped!! Our boile broke when it was really cold last winter and although we coped for a few weeks I wouldnt have lasted much longer! We got a new boiler so should be ok for a few winters.

Oh ill have to have a look on ebay. when i looked a while ago amazon was the cheaper option but i must have a look on ebay if they are now cheaper. I want acrylic- more because they are bigger rather than a prefence in how they look. Would need 5 tiers but may have to measure how big a cake i would have on top, may have to get a 6 tier and not use the top tier (if you can do this with them!!).

I have my eye on a 5 tier acrylic square cake stand - it's by Classikool, on their website (and amazon I think) they are £23 plus postage. On Ebay they are £14 plus something like £6 postage. But I think it depends also on what sort of supports you'd like. I'd really like a 'maypole' one but I can't justify spending that much on a cake stand!! (lol it'd end up costing more than the actual cakes lol). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-TIER-SQUARE-ACRYLIC-CUPCAKE-PARTY-WEDDING-CAKE-STAND-/170607872120?pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item27b9058878#ht_3434wt_932 these are the ones I'm looking at. :)
  • Im going to have a look on ebay- that one that you linked is really nice- the pillars joining each tier look nicer and a little less obvious than some of the ones Ive seen.

I think ill go for a round one as that way it would be easier if I decide just to go for a white iced supermarket fruit cake.

It is all very exciting - I have switched my attention to decorating the garden/house for the after show party. We chatted about lighting briefly and MrD suggested using those bamboo garden torches... mmm but I'm thinking possibly toooo cheap looking. Lol I'm all for MSE as long as it looks like I've spent a fortune :rotfl: but I know he is very right - why spend a fortune when it's only really going to be used once.

(PS I'm now sat in a lovely warm house - have taken my cardigan off!!)
  • I think with regards to stuff for decoration (and anything wedding related) if its something that I would use again, or can put back on ebay or something i really really wanted then I would consider spending a bit more, but if its something that will get used once and then either thrown or put in the loft to gather dust then I would go for the cheapest option (just my way of thinking though and I know a lot of people would think differently to me).

Im liking the cupcake stands that you can fill the middle bit with sweets! Im thinking with some pink sweets this would look good on the same table as my little sweetie buffet!!

Have you seen the ones that have an LED light down the middle as well? :) I agree though the ones that you can fill with sweets would definitely link in really nicely to your sweetie buffet. And to be more MSE you could use something like loo roll to help bulk it out so you aren't using too many sweets - like do a circle of jellybeans (or whatever) three/four jelly beans high, touching the inside of the tube, then cram the middle of the circle with loo roll. Lol I hope that is explained okay - I'm struggling to describe it!

Lol I think I'm going to give in to MrD (and you lol). I have budgeted £100 for the decorating so really I suppose £2/3 for each garden torch is going to leave me with plenty left over for other stuff... so next question how can I decorate our garden?! I have balloons on my list (tied in 'cloud 9's), and I could do some home made bunting - but not sure where I'd hang it. And I was thinking of a white tablecloth runner for our kitchen worktops (where the food is going to be presented) with some sort of confetti type stuff (red hearts/crystals whatever). But that's as far as I've got. I need some MSE inspiration :)

Can't believe tomorrow is the last day of half term, and the last day of dedicating my time to weddings lol.
