Hi all. Everyone knows now, it's been great being able to talk about it. We've bought some blank cards to fill in for the invitations, they were £2.99 for 20 and are a range, this is one set:

    http://www.bjbooks.co.uk/shop/stationery/20-gift-cards-and-envelopes-in-keepsake-tin-love-of-roses/prod_2202.html

    This is another:

    http://www.bjbooks.co.uk/shop/stationery/20-gift-cards-with-envelopes-romance-of-lavender/prod_1145.html

Then we have two more different sets. By sorting through them we can choose the nicest for our daytime guests and still have spare. We think we'll either handwrite or print out into the card (if the printer will take it).

For the evening invitations I'm thinking of designing something then emailing it to all our evening guests just with the instructions 'Print Me!' and asking them to simply email their RSVP back. This will save money.

Friends and family have been great, all offering whatever help they can as they know we're seriously skint. This is good because we want to do the evening buffet ourselves and will be advising evening guests that there will be a 'light buffet' so they know not to turn up expecting a meal.

Hiya stranger :p Good to see you chatting on here :)
Great news that it's all official and everyone knows - lol now you can join the rest of us and rabbit on and on and on about weddings till the cows come home lol.
Those invites are lovely! Really like the one of the red flowers (roses?) laid out in the heart shape - lol that'd be the one I'd hope to receive lol. If you can't get them through your printer you could print onto plain paper and stick them in - you could do it on coloured or plain white paper. :) (Lol would save your wrists having to hand write them all).

Hi there , good to be back. Yes, inserts into the invitations might be the way forward - I'm not sure what density of card my printer can take, but will experiment.

We were just talking about invites and then walked past one of those discount books outlets and there they were and, at £2.99 for 20 (with envelopes) they seemed like a great option. We'll miss out the Save the Date things and just go straight to invitation to save money.

We're going with the Oxfam Unwrapped Wedding Favours and using them as place cards too. A family member has offered to pay for these.

That sounds like a lovely idea - I know LauraR is doing a donation instead of favours... lol me? I'm just a tightwad and not doing anything :p [STRIKE]My[/STRIKE] Our guests are there to see us - that should be gift enough :rotfl:. :)

Exactly :T and that's what we'll be doing if we can't afford the favours! For me they're just not an essential part of the day
  • Sickasachip (sorry ive forgotten your name if youve told us!!)- welcome back! :jthat everyone knows and you can talk about it as much as you like now. Oh the invites are nice- I nearly got something very similar the other day that I was going to use as thank you cards, but thought I would have a little think about it first (and maybe ask oh his opinion- and then ignore it and do what I want!!:rotfl:)

Jemb- I missed your link- could you pm me so I can have a peek??

We arent having favours- the big kiddy in me wanted a sweetie table much more so thats where the money has gone, if I was having them I would do a charity related thing.

And im laughing that Natalie has picked out which invite she would want!!:rotfl:

Melanie- I dont blame your oh- I think its wrong when people charge so much more for it being a wedding. I refuse to book things through people who over inflate their prices as soon as you say wedding, and some companies where they insisted on knowing what the event was I just didnt bother replying- its wrong in my opinion!

Oh yea - that has really bugged me - when people ask what the event is - is any one event more important than another to a company? Surely as long as you get paid it doesn't make a difference what the event is for!! When I was negotiating my chair hire I just told them I wanted them for a garden party.

Well I've been a super good girl tonight - Mark is home late tonight - normally I'd wait till he gets home, then can't be arsed to cook tea, and get a take away. But I didn't want to ruin my hard work today - so I've cooked my own tea on my tod, (have prepared his so all he has to do is throw it in the oven when he gets home). I do hate eating on my own - but at the moment needs must.
  • emma is stomping her feet- I dont have anything wedding related to do!!

I really cant think of anything so have so far today:
done a wedding countdown- 331 days
read recent review on our honeymoon hotel- all good!!:D
booked the last 2 days of the oct half term off work so me and my mum can hopefully get the invites done!

I really cant think of what else I can do for now!
