Ha I can just imagine you turning round seeing your nan not crying and running back down the aisle to go poke her in the eye :p

:) I found that website - lol read the passage again and still welled up!! Although it suggests being read before the exchanging of the rings that really isn't an option in the civil ceremony - and the reading place before the vows wouldn't really suit it. I think it'd be a lovely reading for after the rings are exchanged and while we are still holding each others hands and gazing into each others eyes. I really do love that passage so thank you Emma, really hoping MrD likes it (or accepts it ha!). Oh who to get to read it!

I'm now searching for an equally lovely passage about marriage, love and friendship :)
  • Ill save poking her in the eye till the photos!!:rotfl:If she can cry at the beauty and the beast stage show in Florida she can cry at my wedding!!:rotfl:

I think it would be nice after the rings have been exchanged- like you say when your still holding hands. Does MrD get much of a say???:D

Of course he does.... as long as he says "yes" :rotfl:.
I was thinking if I can persuade him to let us have some personalised readings from our family then I would be happy with the standard vows rather than making our own... lol I may use that as leverage as I'm sure he would hate the pressure of writing his own vows.
:) But thanks Emma - you've given me something weddingy to do in my last few days off - google wedding readings - lol I will collect a few to present to him later lol.
  • Your welcome!:D Glad I have given you something weddingy to do!

Just had a thought if we ask one of my brothers to do a reading I suppose I should give him a buttonhole to wear - lol which would then mean giving one to my other brother - as he'd be the only male without one!! I will have to buy two more white gerberas! :D

Great news about the venue Michelle! It's great getting all these things ticked off isn't it!!
    :D

Lol I'm enjoying some of Ogden Nash's 'marriage/wedding' poems!

    To Keep Your Marriage Brimming
    Ogden Nash (1902-1971)

    To keep your marriage brimming,
With love in the loving cup,
    Whenever you're wrong admit it;
    Whenever you're right shut up.
  • Haha Natalie- love the poem!! See your having a good productive wedding day. Ive done nothing wedding related for what seems like ages!! I think ive actually run out of things to do for now!!

Now this would make me giggle - I do love Dr Seuss!

Funny wedding readings - Vows by Dr Seuss

Minister: Will you answer me right now
These questions, as your wedding vow?

Groom: Yes, I will answer right now
Your questions as my wedding vow.

Minister: Will you take her as your wife?
Will you love her all your life?

Groom: Yes, I take her as my wife,
Yes, I'll love her all my life.

Minister: Will you have, and also hold
Just as you have at this time told?

Groom: Yes, I will have, and I will hold,
Just as I have at this time told,
Yes, I will love her all my life
As I now take her as my wife.

Minister: Will you love through good and bad?
    Whether you're happy or sad?

Groom: Yes, I'll love through good and bad,
    Whether we're happy or sad,
Yes, I will have and I will hold
Just as I have already told,
Yes, I will love her all my life,
Yes, I will take her as my wife!

Minister: Will you love her if you're rich?
Or if you're poor, and in a ditch?

Groom: Yes, I'll love her if we're rich,
And I will love her in a ditch,
I'll love her through good times and bad,
Whether we are happy or sad,
Yes, I will have, and I will hold
(I could have sworn this has been told!)
I promise to love all my life
This woman, as my lawful wife!

Minister: Will you love her when you're fit,
And also when you're feeling sick?

Groom: Yes, I'll love her when we're fit,
And when we're hurt, and when we're sick,
And I will love her when we're rich
And I will love her in a ditch
And I will love through good and bad,
And I will love when glad or sad,
And I will have, and I will hold
Ten years from now a thousandfold,
Yes, I will love for my whole life
This lovely woman as my wife!

Minister: Will you love with all your heart?
Will you love till death you part?

Groom: Yes, I'll love with all my heart
From now until death do us part,
And I will love her when we're rich,
And when we're broke and in a ditch,
And when we're fit, and when we're sick,
(Oh, CAN'T we get this finished quick?)
And I will love through good and bad,
And I will love when glad or sad,
And I will have, and I will hold,
And if I might now be so bold,
I'll love her my entire life,
Yes, I WILL take her as my wife!

Minister: Then if you'll take her as your wife,
And if you'll love her all your life,
And if you'll have, and if you'll hold,
From now until the stars grow cold,
And if you'll love through good and bad,
And whether you're happy or sad,
And love in sickness, and in health,
And when you're poor, and when in wealth,
And if you'll love with all your heart,
From now until death do you part,
Yes, if you'll love her through and through,
    Please answer with these words:

    Minister and Groom: I DO!

Minister: You're married now! So kiss the bride.
