MrsD - what a lovely story about the ring! It's so nice that it has so much meaning behind it!
Thank- you for the explanation on the giving notice. We're getting married in a chapel and have to go back to see the priest at the end of January so I guess he'll maybe go through all of that with us then.
Thanks as well for the posts on the dresses. The All Saints dress is really pretty, my colour is an electric blue though - I wanted a black and White theme originally but for various reasons couldn't make it work!
I found a dress last night that looked ok (although not exactly 20's style!), but it's one of these mail order places in Malaysia and I've heard mixed reviews about ordering them on-line. If I go with that, I'll maybe order just the 1 dress at first to begin with and see what the quality's like!
I'm off to dye my hair and then I'm going to meet a friends new wee baby boy! Hope you all have a lovely day

Cor you've set yourself a tough challenge there!! I've just done a very quick google for 1920s electric blue dresses and nearly all of them are from costume shops - which clearly won't be the quality you want for your bridesmaids!! (I did see one on ebay from Matalan and another navy one from H&M though).
*edit*
And these guys found theirs from Debenhams.
Ha - Debenhams have fringe dresses in but not in blue:

Sweden is going well, the sun is shining and I'm getting a tan.
Back home next Monday evening, ready to go back to the drudgery of work.
Can't remember, but I brought some shoes the day before I left for Sweden to go with my dress, had abandoned them in my car as didn't get chance to take them to my mothers before leaving.
The weekend after I get back I will be going to the Isle of Wight to look at the venue with H2B, and then hopefully everything else will start falling into place.
Best get back to camp, and giving out information to all the lovely people at this Jamboree.

Sounds like you're super busy Michelle!!
Been and collected my Mr Spoon & Mrs Fork - and I LOVE them!!! Sooo pleased with them. They are only marginally less than if I'd got them off Etsy (87p), but they are the same ones as the rest of our spoons/forks rather than some 'vintage' ones that wouldn't get used again.I will take photos of them after lunch

Ur all so bloody active recently i cant keep up with u all... cant wait to see ur pics natalie. ive got Logans christening to sort out then i should be back on form for the wedding planning. we still havent actually got anywhere to get married. we have booked the church but we cant get married there unless one of us goes for at least once a month for 6months before the wedding. and im not going OH wants this blooming church so he can go.. and if he doesnt start going soon it will be to late... although im not going to nag him because if he doesnt ill just ring the venue and book to get married in there. hopefully there will be a registrar available.
anyhow im going to bite the bullet and order my shoes. even though i think they are way to pricey... lol x0 -
Yaaaaaaay shoe shopping
you can't beat it!!
Well as promised here are my photos:
Lol spot me in the reflection!
The engraving is really subtle - love it!
I propose we use these to eat a piece of cake every anniversary from our wedding day onwards0 -
Michelle sounds like your having a fab time
Laura hope the christening are coming along ok and hope you manage to sort the venue/church out soon.
Natalie love the spoons and forks.
Have crossed another thing off the list today:j Guest book for only £3!0 -
I don't know how any one can organise anything at the same time as a wedding - christening/moving house - madness if you ask me!!
LauraR lol your OH sounds just like MrD - he will say he wants such and such but then makes no attempt to do it! It can have it's advantages - like when he said he wanted to go to London for a weekend and we couldn't afford it - I didn't help in any way and surprise surprise it didn't happen. But it also has it's disadvantages - like when he says he'll do some DIY and it takes months/years to get done!! I would be the same as you though - and make no effort to sort out the church - well unless it's something I wanted equally as much.
LauraL - Hurrah for finding a guest book. I'm umming and ahhing over this. I would really like some sort of thing for our guests to write us well wishes, but I'm not sure if our guests are the sort that would want to. I also don't know if they are 'traditional' or 'the done thing' - the two weddings I've been to haven't had them.0 -
Hi everyone! I have a friend visiting for the next couple of days so may not be online much!
CWM, I did see some quite 20's ish type dresses in Coast earlier today, the pleated thing that seems to be about at the minute works quite well. Can't recall any blue ones though.
This morning I bought the bridesmaid dress for my sister, it's this one from Debenhams (but it actually looks far better on her than the model?). She's going to wear the ribbon differently though, she's going to swap it for a navy one and wear it in a bow at the back with the ends trailing down. So good only having one bridesmaid, I just let her pick whatever no faffing with having to match anything now! I am quite jealous though I love the colour of it!
Luckily I had a £20 voucher for debenhams that I won and I opened a storecard for the discount as well so it only ended up costing £61
Natalie, the spoons look nice, I like the subtleness of them. Def a good excuse to eat cake! (not that I would need one lol).
I've never ever been to a wedding with a guest book - either that or I didn't realise there was one haha!
xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
That's the sort of bridesmaids dress I'd have if I was having any Mel
Even better when it's a bargain!
