Haha I always think that! (not about you obv!) It's one of the reasons I need a dress with straps, because anything strapless makes my shoulders look about 5 miles wide because my head is so narrow!
Haha us women are mental... you don't tend to get blokes saying stuff like that!

:rotfl: what are we like!!
Right bed time for me.
Tomorrow's plans:
* Get up early and phone the docs
* Pop into town and collect spoon & fork
* Wait in for Asda to deliver
* Finish off final ever OU assignment
* Take photos of spoon & fork
* Go to cadwell for the night with MrD.
It's going to be quiet on here for a week really. Tomorrow night we're off to Cadwell until Friday night - although I am popping home on Thursday night to check on Bunny so I'll be on then. Then I'll be around Saturday, but I'll be packing/washing clothes. Getting a very early night on Saturday, going to Eurodisney at silly oclock Sunday and getting back really late Wednesday.0 -
Oh there's no way we'll be having it at that price! I nearly fainted - I've seen a lot of the really intricate ones that are that price, but I genuinely thought ours was quite basic in terms of the amount of work it would take for the baker.
Anywaaaaaay - MrsD - glad you got the rings sorted! Why do you refer to your "non-engagement" ring? Why's it not an engagement ring?
Mel - that's rotten you're not feeling so excited after your first look at the wedding dresses. I'd defo say you should try them on before writing them off though. There were so many I had completely discounted on the hanger which were then beautiful on! Plus, there were lots in the shops I went to which weren't satin. I must have tried on 50+ dresses by now, and don't think I've tried any satin.
My next hurdle is finding a bridesmaid dress. I've picked one which is perfect for what I want, although I'd have to get it made as I've only found a drawing not an actual dress. But I sent it to the 5 "adult" bridesmaids about a week ago and not one of them has replied - so I'm guessing it hasn't gone down too well! Anyone have any inspiration for a bridesmaid dress that fits with a 1920's theme?

PS - you all keep talking about "giving notice" what do you mean?0

CWM (Sorry can't remember your name
) I am off to bed in a sec but had a quick google, you have prob already seen this though http://www.lovemydress.net/blog/2010/06/1920s-wedding-inspiration.html Also what colours do you need?
Giving notice is if you are having a civil ceremony you have to give notice so that if anyone objects they can make it known, and so they can make sure it's all legal

The story of my 'non-engagement' ring.
Are you still comfortably? Lol.
When I was 21 MrD bought me a ring. It was gorgeous, 9ct white gold, nice sapphire (with flaw which made it even more individual and special), and two small diamonds, one each side (neither of them anything to write home about.
Then my Grandma died - I was 26 or so, and my Granddad gave me her original engagement ring. Before she went into hospital after having a suspected stroke, she had lost it. Couldn't find it anywhere, so my Granddad bless, the old romantic, got her a replacement through his insurance. Unfortunately she died, and my poor Granddad had to sort through all her belongings. As he was going through her drawers he found her original engagement ring, which was three diamonds in a row with the middle one slightly bigger. He passed it on to me.
I was really close to my Grandma (and still am), so I wanted to be able to wear her ring, but at the time it was too small for me, and it was in yellow gold, where as I wear silver coloured jeweller. Anyway I approached my mum and Granddad to see if they would mind if I commissioned a ring using the diamonds from her ring.
When I was 27 I began to work away from home for a year, coming back to MrD at the weekend. I asked MrD if he would mind if I began to wear my 21st birthday ring on my engagement ring finger. Not as a sign of any engagement but just to signify our commitment to each other. He agreed (at this time he was flatly refusing to marry me).
I then lost lots of weight, to the point where I now wear the same size ring as my Grandma's engagement ring. Before I turned 30 (which was why I lost all my weight) MrD agreed to get my ring made (again he was still not wanting to marry me!). Using the Sapphire from my 21st birthday, the 2 outer diamonds from my Grandma's ring, and the design of both rings really (three stones in a line), in 18ct white gold. (Platinum was double the cost, and looking back now I'm so happy that we didn't go with platinum cause it'd only bump up the cost of the wedding!) I carried on wearing it on my engagement ring finger.
So strictly speaking it's my 30th birthday ring. It is the most precious ring to me, no actual engagement ring could take it's place.
Lol but this is a long story - it's easier to call it my 'non-engagement' ring lol.
Giving notice - if you're getting married in a civil ceremony then in the year prior to the wedding (but more than 17 days before it) you have to 'give notice'. This basically means going to your local registry office and answering some questions, to prove that you are legally allowed to marry each other. This notice is then displayed/made public for people to see for 15 days. After this time you are allowed to marry.
If you're getting married in a church you don't need to do this - the equivalent in church is the baams. (Is that the right word).
If you're getting married abroad I don't think you need to give notice - but you'll have other hoops to jump through instead.0 -
Lol that'll teach me for writing such a long post - Mel had already answered the query about giving notice.0

Job number 1 done - been to the docs - have got the pill to stop my periods and hence stop my spots from coming (hopefully), and antibiotics to clear up the spots I have at the moment (hopefully).
Next job - which I forgot to add to my list of things to do today, is to tidy up the downstairs of our house. While we're away MrD's aunt is coming to look after Bun - popping in once or twice and giving him some fuss. So I need to make sure downstairs is looking presentable.
Then I need to pop into town collect my spoon & fork and get said pill & antibiotics, but I won't do that until my Amazon order of some sun cream has been delivered so I've got that to try out while we're in France. (Got some of that one a day Reimann stuff that was recommended on another thread in here).
But first. Breakfast0
