Mel - just been looking at dresses in the online sales and seen that Phase 8 have a bridal range too - and they don't look satiny. No idea of anywhere that will have them in - I know debenhams/john lewis stock phase 8 but not sure about their bridal range:

Handfasting was a traditional form of marriage or religious rite of passage for people and until the 19th century couples in Scotland were still getting married by handfasting. Handfasting has been adopted by spiritual and nature based religions to allow a couple to make a commitment to each other, regardless of their sex, background or culture, within their own spiritual path. There is no set rule to perform a handfasting ritual, there are only guidelines. It is up to the couple to perform details and specifics so the handfasting is personal, meaningful and unique.
Traditionally, handfasting is for a year and a day and after the year and a day from the handfasting the couple may choose to renew their vows or to go their own ways without any guilt. This commitment is not a lifetime commitment unless the couple chooses it to be. This does not mean that a handfasting should not be taken seriously, quite the contrary, the vows taken during a handfasting should be taken just as seriously as any other form of marriage vow or even more seriously since the couple will be 'bound' to each by way of blood and word of honor which used to be taken more seriously then it is today. The spiritual bond of this commitment is taken very seriously. A spiritual bond is more serious than a physical bond.0 -

If it fits it *may* be the dress to wear to my big brother's wedding. It certainly looks fabby!
Lol I take a size 8-10 depending on whether I'm having an off day or not lol. I have ordered it in a 10, so hopefully I can still get into it after our honeymoon of all inclusive eating lol.0 -

Rach- im currently experiencing the whole guest list thing- it isnt easy is it!! Still havent worked out what to do!! You seem to have got loads sorted. You should get coloured shoes, they will look fab (i am modest though as I have coloured shoes- i was going to post a link but debenhams site doesnt seem to be loading properly for me!!)

Oh thats a lovely dress- and what a bargain. I hope you manage to get a photographer sorted. I am having one for 2 hours, and thats costing us £200, and thats with a fully edited disk, and then i will put my oldest sister in charge of getting snaps at the reception.

xThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -
Well i thought it was sorted until my mum asked if my step dads mum and her husband were invited because if they are they would like to know so they can book their flights over (which I suddenly realised today is probably because of the cost of flights as its the olympics), and then i realised it wasnt, i could possibly not give my friend a plus 1 for the registry office but say her plus 1 is welcome at the reception from the start, but that still gives me 46 and I can only have 45, so im just not sure who to cut out!!
That dress is lovely.0 -
Thanks for the links to Phase 8 - I did like the look of the Elizabeth one but it'd be at the top end of my budget even at £300.
I agree - the Elizabeth one is lovely. Lol sorry for finding them - they are pricey aren't they. I wonder if you can get them on ebay. (Will go off on a google hunt in a min and come back with any findings).
I think the whole guest thing is really hard. Cause on the one hand it's your wedding - you should have who you want, and only those you want. But on the other hand it's a big celebration for your parents to show off how well you've done so they will want to share the day with their nearest and dearest as well. It's hard to find a compromise between the two especially when numbers are so restricted. I am praying that some of our guests RSVP to say they can't come - cause at the last count we had 56 including us. We don't have that big a garden!0 -
One guy has emailed me back offering 2hrs for £245 including a copyright free DVD of up to 50 full size photographs. I know that is probably not too bad a price - but GULP!! I'm now having second thoughts and saying sod it my mum can just cope!!0
-
Thats not bad but im sure you could get it cheaper- ive just checked mine and its £190 for 2 hours plus £40 all edited images on a disk (we dont get full copyright but can make as many copies as we want) and £20 travel. Ok, my knowledge on were you are in country is useless (even if you told me where I wouldnt have a clue) but have you had a look on here:
