Hi guys!! It's been ages since I've been on here!!! Got a second (well third if you count supply teaching) job and am working day and night at the minute!! Got a 3 hour break before next job starts!!! Totally shattered but still managing to get a few wedding things done though!!

    Got:
    • my dress,
    • bridesmaid dresses,
    • videographer,
    • photographer,
    • appointment with florist next week,
    • waiting for hair dresser and beautician to get next years' diaries ready and then they'll be sorted,
    • Order of service done on computer (can be changed around),
    • DJ,
    • working on invitations,
    • hymns and readings sorted.
Also, purchased half of e-bay so I can try out different things on the invitations. Having a couple of "do we have to invite them?" issues. We want (or have!!) to invite df's 2 uncles (not a close family and don't get on too well), and when they went to his sisters wedding they left before the evening and didn't want to be there. Don't want to invite their kids, but if we don't they won't come (not such a bad thing) but then his grandmother wouldn't come. We want her there so looks like we need to invite the whole lot of them.

Gonna have a read through everyone's posts now from the past few weeks to see what I've missed!!!

Also, moving house soon (hopefully getting keys in 2 weeks) so more to do!!!

Hiya Rach - cor bless you working every hour under the sun! There are quite a few brides on MSE who are having cadburys purple as their colour so there are definitely purple shoes out there! What sort of shoes would you want? Court/Strappy etc, and what sized heel?
You have been busy - both at work and on your wedding! :)
Congratulations on moving house! Nothing like doing everything all at once is there :)

Don't want sandals, definately shoes. Not pointy toes, round. Other than that not too fussy :-) Want a heel but not too big (df only little bless him!! Don't want to spend the whole day looking down on him!!).

Sounds like you've been busy as well. Getting a lot organised!!!

Quick message before I go and put my 5th load of washing out on the line (I'm wondering whether I can make it 6 before the sun goes in).

Been and given notice and am £67 more poor for the pleasure lol.
It was really easy - and not as scary as I imagined. She took us both into a room, asked us for our documents (passport & driving licences each), did a little talk about things like the fees etc, then showed us the ceremony room (I'll come back to this bit) and told us about where to come when we get there on the day. Then she saw us both individually and just went through my name and asked for my groom's name, our date of births, addresses etc. She asked us whether we'd ever been married before, whether we were related, how long we'd been living at our address etc etc. Just the usual kinda of questions you'd expect. Then she sat down and went through the ceremony form that we need to complete with details of which wording we want, music etc. Took us about 30 mins in total.

Lol I was grinning like a cheshire cat - MrD was far more subdued lol anyone would think he didn't want to get married lol. Anyway - she was saying MrD has to arrive 30 mins before the ceremony, and I have to arrive 15 mins before. She said he will come to this room to pay for the marriage certificate and to check his details for the final time. Then he will go with our guests to the room. I will come in 15 mins earlier and be shown to a different room so by the time I'm ready all the guests and MrD will be in the ceremony room. Okay at this point my heart started racing - eeek. Then we went into the ceremony room, and well to be fair it is just a registry office, but OMG I swelled up with anxiety and nerves just imagining our parents, siblings, and neices/nephews being seated watching as me and my granddad enter the room. ARGH! Thank god it's not a long walk before I can clutch MrD's hand - scary scary scary!! Whose idea was it to get married ha!!!

Anyway I have all the wording etc for the declaratory stuff, the binding words, and the sharing of the rings - lol I am looking forward to sitting down with MrD to choose which we want. Although ha! I won't pounce on him tonight I will leave it till it's closer to the date. Don't want to freak the poor bloke out!

    Right washing.

Oh and I've decided - I think we should get a photographer in for the ceremony. I would like my mum to be a witness on the register, but she won't be able to sign it and take a photo of her signing it. (I had asked mum to be our 'official' photographer for the ceremony). I've sent a few tentative emails off asking for quotes for about 90 mins maximum 'shooting' time (30 mins before the ceremony to take photos of MrD, guests, me arriving etc, 30 mins or so of ceremony, and 30 mins afterwards to do a few quick snaps.) I have stated I don't want any posed shots - just 'reportage' style action ones. We'll see what they come back like. I have also messaged a friend of MrD's who used to do sports photography (bike racing) to see if he knows anyone who could do it - they don't even have to be a professional wedding photographer really. I just want a few snaps.

I just think as I've not spent as much on my dress thanks to my mum, and my wedding ring being so reasonable then we may be able to 'splash' out a bit on a photographer - just for the ceremony and for the shots I can't take myself. :)

Hello, I am having a ceromony handfasting next July 2012 at the Lost Village of Dode in Kent. We are having the civil ceromony first followed by the handfasting. Cant Wait!

Mel- I think bonsai trees would look fab. Im sure someone else on this thread got a monsoon dress and got it delivered and so it came brand new and not scruffy.

Im so going to laugh when we give notice and they ask if we are brother and sister- just the childish part of me will be chuckling!

Oh yes I remember now, they mixed up the order at first didn't they. I think I will pop in town this holiday and have a bit of a trying on session.

Haha I think I would probably laugh all the way through the giving notice bit - or make an innappropriate joke and end up getting us investigated lol.

I found this company who I'm thinking of using just for an hour or so to take the pressure off my friend who was going to do it - http://www.personalphotographicservices.co.uk/ £49 an hour is not bad and they give you the CD. You could give them a ring and see if they go as far as Lincoln or look for something similar if you can't find someone you know to do it. The professional photographers were sooo expensive when I was looking.

Hello Moonsa70, welcome to the thread :)
