    Hello-

Hope those who are off are enjoying their time off.

Well I gave up on trying to sort the guest list out and instead booked a hotel and parking for when we are away on honeymoon- found a deal where the hotel and a 2 course dinner for the 2 of us worked out about the same price as just parking so we have gone for that!

    Hi everyone,

Sorry haven't posted for a while, I've been stopping at my parents for my birthday as OH is away doing an army camp!

I'm well aware that I always seem to be the negative one here, but I'm really sorry I'm going to have to have another moan - I'm feeling a bit stressed out and p****d off this evening. Basically today my mum and me went to look at wedding dresses - and it was AWFUL.

All the shops we went in (not just cheapo places, some proper bridal shops too!) the dresses looked really grubby and horrible, all crammed on the shelves - nearly every dress was made out of this kind of shiny, weird looking fabric and they were all really sort of, heavy?

It was just a fact finding thing and I didn't actually try anything on, but I am dreading it now. I just can't see how I will find something I love and actually want to wear - all the styles were very similar strapless things which I just couldn't feel comfortable in, and then they were so expensive considering they looked so cheap and shiny - I couldn't relax knowing I'd wasted £3/400 on a dress, which is what seemed to be the cheapest around. Even the more expensive ones were all made out of that satinny stuff.

I just feel gutted - I thought once I actually went to a shop and saw the dresses it would suddenly all click and they'd be lovely - but if anything it was the opposite. I wish I could just be a normal bride and enjoy it but everything just seems to be a downer :(

I know I'm a mardy cow and I'm so sorry for bringing this thread down - don't feel you have to reply or anything I just wanted to vent a bit I guess :(

On a brighter note I had a really nice birthday :)And congrats to those with less than a year to go now!

Mel - I'm shattered - not long got in (been up since 6am, CBMIIWHO drove from Grantham to Keswick in the Lakes, did a 1 hr rock climb, CBMIIWHO drove back to Grantham, and then I drove back home - got in just over an hour ago and only just had tea - mmm indian).

Anyway - I didn't want to read and run. "Normal bride"? Is there such a thing? I'm being serious - you only have to read the posts on here to know that we are all different and what we all want from our day is different. I agree with you - I couldn't stand the satin material (it's like cheap PJs to me), which is why when I found my chiffon covered one I fell in love. I will say don't give up. Also try some high street shops - like Coast/Monsoon. (I think Coast's new bridal range are beautiful).

I will write a longer post tomorrow but I just wanted to give you a great big hug. It's funny that you feel that you're 'always' bringing the thread down - I can honestly say I don't remember a negative post you've written!! (And you know me - I read everything lol). Besides if we can't !!!!! and moan on here where can we!!

    HUGS!!
    xx

AAAAARGH I have just wrote a lovely long post about my decorations (have bought everything now), your guest list and hotel Emma, and Mel your wedding dress problems and then I accidently hit the back button on my browser and lost the bloomin lot!

Mel - have you considered getting a bespoke dress?

We're off to Anglesey today - since breaking up from school I've slept in my own bed for a grand total of 4 nights (out of 9) lol I can't wait till I can have a couple of nights in it!!

Checked with my hair dresser - she's going on honeymoon in Oct 2012 - hurrah she can do my hair no probs! :D

Giving notice on Monday - eeek - will definitely have butterflies!!

My wedding ring has arrived :T
Mmm only problem is it appears to be a bit small. (My fingers have swollen from eating crap for a couple of days). Am going to take both my 'non-engagement' ring and this ring into town on Monday to get them sized to check they are both the same - and to check they are actually K sized - H-Samuel said my 'non-engagement' ring was a K so I'll be mightily !!!!ed off if it's not. I will also wait till my finger swelling has subsided before I try it on again (normally my non-engagement ring can swirl around on my finger on it's own accord but today it's pretty snug).
But apart from that the ring itself is absolutely perfect. It's the right thickness 2mm looks perfect against my ring. And it's a nice chunky size - although having the 'heavy' one means I do have a gap between my two rings they go together better than if I'd had a flatter ring because of the nature of my non-engagement ring being a heavy one itself. (If that makes sense).

So I'm kinda jumpy up and down but at the same time a little bit disappointed. (They will do an exchange according to the website).

Hello everyone. Hope your all good.

I went and saw Bridesmaids last night- soooooo funny!!

Mel- are you still planning on moving back in with your parents?

Mel- dont feel bad for coming on here for a moan- thats what we are here for- so you can get things off your chest. Do you feel that you have to have a proper wedding dress when really it isnt you- what you would feel comfy in? And so when you were looking nothing seemed right? If so I would say go for what you want- there are a lot of lovely dresses out there that are just as lovely as traditional dresses. And you may find they wont carry the same prices as wedding dresses.

Natalie- glad the quality and style of your ring is perfect, just a but annoying about the size.

I have just had a lovely email from the weddingringspecialist really reassuring me that it's no problem to send it back and get it swapped for another size. (I was a bit worried about it - I know legally through the distance selling they have to do something - but I didn't want the hassle so I'm so pleased that it's not going to be.) (My fingers are so swollen at the moment that I can only just get my 'non-engagement' ring off lol - normally it's quite slippy).

I do really want to see that - lol predominantly cause it's wedding related lol.

Well I'm still sat here in my dressing gown - I *should* begin to get ready for our night/day away tomorrow. We're driving down (yay more roads to travel) after lunch today.

    *edit*
When I get back from Anglesey tomorrow night I will have travelled 1480 miles!! Which according to Google is 1day 6hrs worth of traveling (I didn't/won't have driven it all myself - two of the long trips I will have been a passenger). This isn't bad considering it'll only have been 10 days!!
    *edit again*
Ooo I just saw - Google maps now has an estimated fuel cost! The above traveling will have cost an estimated £299.39!

Oh it is so funny- even my sister thought it was so funny and she is probably fed up of all my wedding talk!! I was meant to be going out drinking with my sister and her work pals but they cancelled last minute and I was already at my sisters when I found out so didnt then really fancy driving all the way back home so said well how about the cinema and it turns out her ohs mum has left some tesco cinema and cafe rouge vouchers out that had to be used this weekend so we had a yummy 2 course dinner and went to the cinema and it cost us £10 each! If you get the chance to go and see it definately go!

Oh thats a tough one about deciding what to do about your ring, if its really tight i would be tempted to send it back and get the next size- you would have your non engagement ring closer to the finger nail anyway wouldnt you so its not like it would slip off and you would lose it (although obviously you dont want it really loose!!)

Well I have just sold my ivory flowers on ebay - albeit at less than I paid for them, but it means my flowers budget (not including those for the decorations) has now come in number budget :) :T

On Monday my fingers should be back to their normal size. So I'll try it on again then - and if it's still a bit too tight (I like my rings to be loose) then I will go get my 'non-engagement' ring measured again and check that it's a size K.

Right I should go and get things packed ready for Anglesey.
(Lol been watching Don't Tell The Bride instead!)

Hi all, thanks for being nice :o I think I was a bit stressed out about it all because I had come round to the idea of having a lovely day out but then came back down to earth with a bit of a thud :p Emma, I think you are kind of right in that looking round the shops, nothing was 'me' so it was like "OMG I'm gonna end up in something I hate because there's nothing else" I do like some proper wedding dresses - I love some of these http://www.johanna-hehir.com/ but I must have very expensive tastes as the ones on that website are all in the thousands!!

I did briefly consider a bespoke dress, Natalie - but I bet it would cost a fortune and I'm too tight for that. :rotfl: My nan actually used to make wedding dresses, I've seen pictures and there are some beautiful ones that she made, but she's 85 now and she has poorly hands so I wouldn't want to ask her to do it.

My current thoughts are that I will have a look at my mum's old dress and see if I could use that with a few alterations (and a bit more weight loss :rotfl:) and otherwise I will keep scouring the high street and see what comes up... failing that there is always this :rotfl: http://www.marieclaire.co.uk/news/fashion/529129/peacocks-launches-kate-middleton-inspired-wedding-dress-for-just-60.html

Natalie, that is a lot of travelling! I like that new feature on google maps, quite useful! Have fun in Anglesey - if you see Prince William ask in if he can lend me a few quid for a designer dress lol.
Well done on selling the flowers, did you buy them from ebay in the first place?
Shame about the ring but that's good that they will sort it for you. I like my ring to be quite loose too, they irritate me otherwise - especially when it's hot.

Emma, people have told me that bridesmaids is quite good- might have to go and see that. My mate said it's a bit like a girls version of the hangover? Oh and yes we are still moving back in with them, we are just waiting for my sister to get a definite moving date (don't wanna give notice on this place and then have it all fall through lol)

    Wooah I can ramble can't I haha!
    xx
