    Hi All,

I have not been on for some time... this is very bad but I have been super busy! I was competing at judo competitions and generally busy with work (bad times). I have just spent about half an hour reading all the posts I have missed!

Wedding wise I have decided on my something old. Many years ago my grandma died (she was not my biological grandma but my dad's mother died when he was 2 so she was like a mother to him whilst he was growing up), she left me some bracelets which her husband gave her when they got engaged (he was in the navy and bought her these bracelets from Singapore) (she died when I was 7 I think) anyway they are about 100 years old so I figured they fit the criteria for something old and they are lovely. They are quite delicate and need a slight resizing, so I am on a hunt for an antique jeweller or someone who knows what they are doing with these items who won't damage them.

I have no idea what they are actually made of, all I know is they are silver (in colour, may not even be real silver, but owing to the age I am going to say there must be an element of it in there (but who knows)), but in the process of getting them ready for my wedding I figured it might be a good time to do some finding out.

Congrats to Laura on the baby!!

All of the wedding stuff that everyone has been up to looks and sounds amazing.

Yay for MrsD finding a dress I know how much you were looking forward to the dress shopping! Good luck for the race today I am sure you will rock it!

:) Thank you both of you. Well I did it - I ran the Hull Race For Life. Little bit disappointed with my time. When I crossed the line the big timing clock said 35:00. But it was really hard to get into a rhythm with 'joggers' deciding to walk after the first so many yards and having to weave around them. And as I didn't know the route I didn't know how hard it was going to get so was conservative until I hit the end of Boothferry Road. We ran round Costello Stadium's track - that was really nice and bouncy - enjoyed that bit. (My Nike Plus says 32mins 16seconds - 55 seconds slower than the Louth one so I guess I shouldn't be too disappointed). Here's to Portsmouth next Sunday!! :) Oh and the weather was much better - overcast with a little bit of drizzle - car said 17 deg C.

Emma - you're right it's our 12th year anniversary today (to the day we met). I got a lovely card (which I will be adding to the card photo frame thing). I got him some elemis foot massage stuff (a foot soak, foot scrub and moisturiser) so I imagine we'll have a bit of a pampering session later. Can't believe the next time we say the words "happy anniversary" to each other it'll actually be our wedding day!!

JudoBird (lol I'm the same as Emma and can't remember if you've said your name) - that is a lovely idea about your grandma's bracelets. I would say (if you haven't already done so) write a new thread asking for antique jeweller's in kent - I'm sure someone on here would be able to make a recommendation to you.

Emma - have you done it??? Have you booked your cakes!?! :)

Well done on the race- the weather here is drizzley and generally wet- lets hope the weather is nice next Sunday, I was going to say the times ive done the portsmouth race for life the weather has always been really good, but they have moved it later in the year as it used to always be at the start of June, but fingers crossed for a dry day next week. (and not a windy day as its along part of the seafront!!)!!

No, my cake isnt booked:(. Her cakes look amazing but unfortunately because of where it was she wasnt allowed sample cakes to try as they have a tea room so didnt want her giving out cakes:mad: but she does offer a free consulation and so I have just emailed her to book one in asap as the offer runs out at the end of July- and is 80 cupcakes, a cake topper and stand hire for £125 which is just too good too miss! And I told her what flavours I would have (vanilla cupcakes with a chocolate topper) and she said she would make these flavours for the consulation- lets hope she can book me in soon so I can book that!

Oh I really hope the cake lady gets back to you asap! I bet she was really peeved off that she wasn't allowed to give out samples!! You'd have thought she'd have been allowed to give out like 1cm squares or something - just for a taste rather than actually eating a whole cake!!
