  • Well I have had a look at your costings

    Just a few things:
If you had your make up done would you have it done just one day or both?
Does MrDs suit costs include shirt (and tie if he is having one?)

I think everything else sounds ok- especially given the time you have to source things at the best price.

If i think of anything else ill let you know.

Thanks very much Emma, I wouldn't have my make up 'done' by someone else - like you say we're having two days and that'd get expensive. I'll either a) do it myself using what I've already got - wear every day. or b) treat myself to a free make over at a make up counter, and treat myself to some new bits and bobs. I will probably do the latter and buy the important bits like foundation. Lol I realise £50 isn't a lot for a professional to do it! :)

MrD's suit - I was *hoping* he'd be able to get: trousers, jacket (his request - I was happy for him to just have trousers!), shirt and tie for that price (£200). He isn't having anything overly formal (like cumberband/tails/waist coat etc - well that I know of anyway :) ).

I am really enjoying all this window shopping!! The place that I want to get my flowers from for the bouquet/button hole also sells balloons so that'll save money on postage. I have found places that sell disposable helium bottles - but I have a feeling there is a place in town that does them too so I'll see how much they are. Google really is my friend!! (I'm actually going to email the flower lady and see if her balloons that appear the same colour actually are a close enough match).

    I have also just added/amended:

60 Invites & Thank you Cards (to take into account of the new blades I'll need and the 14 stamps I'll have to buy).
40 Underwear for me (probably £35 on a strapless hold them bad boys up bra, I do have a suck it all in pants I will probably wear)
20 Photos (I will be sending everyone seen with a camera at the dos a CD with a stamped addressed envelope to return them to us, asking them to burn their photos for us.)
100 Hen night (This will probably be a meal out for just me and my best friend the weekend before - she would be my chief bridesmaid if I was having one).
100 Stag night (No idea if MrD would actually like a stag night - he's always scoffed at them before but I presume he'd like to go out for the night with the lads anyway).

This brings our total to £2757. WAAAAAAY too much in my opinion!! (I was comfortable until it went over £2500!) So lots of MSE bargain hunting to be had!!

I am a fan of AA dresses - lol I haven't tried any on yet but that's the website I keep going back to. I have arranged an appointment to go to a stockist in July (this year) to try some on. I have just emailed her to ask if she has a particular dress in stock - style 2169 (but I would like it shortened to just above knee length).

:rotfl: I am hoping that Southampton FC and Portsmouth FC don't play each other on your wedding day!

I am looking at AA 1516, 1193 or 2132. Am going for another look on friday.

No worries about the football as we have arranged it out of football season. I think if there was a game on no-one would turn up.

I have started looking at photographers today and am leaning towards to ones that put all the photos on disc and you print your own. I like the old traditional albums which alot of photographers no longer do, they do the notebook style which I don't like. Will also make it cheaper in the long run xx

Ooo they are sooo pretty. :) I bet you're going to have a headache chosing between them!! (Do you mind if I ask how much they are? - have you already tried them on? Cause the one I'm looking at is in the same price bracket so I'm just wondering how over budget I'm looking at :rotfl:)

I think I am going for 2132 but need to try them on again. I tried them on Tuesday and loved them. They range between £750 and £800 depending on which one. I tried on other dresses as well but fell in love with these ones. Everyone else also commented on how lovely they are. The other good thing is that they can do bridesmaids and men cravats in the exact colour of the dresses as well, which I like as want everyone to look nice for the photos xx

That was about what I was expecting - damn it lol. (I was hoping cheaper). The one I've seen is available online for £715 (but I wouldn't deam of buying it online - just incase it was a copy). I really like some of the AA bridesmaids dresses too - which they do in ivory/white which may be more in my budget lol. (I do want a knee length dress). Lol I just want to go try on pretty dresses NOW (stamps her feet). :) July seems soooo far away lol.

ARGH! (I need a very strong drink - only problem - I don't drink!) Last night as MrD was taking us for a drive the gearbox started misbehaving - not selecting 1st, 3rd, or 5th gear. So I rang our local (reasonably priced) garage to get it booked in today. Just been to collect it - when a reasonably priced garage man tells you 'it's going to be expensive' you know to brace yourself for the worse. He said it needs work on the clutch and gearbox... we already know it will also need new brake discs and pads before too long. Totally around £1500. It's probably worth no more than £3k. I'm sat here absolutely gutted. Can't afford £1500, but neither can we afford a new car. Gutted. Waiting for MrD to come home so we can discuss things. (Lol I would love a new car mind). Lol infact I'm sat here in tears - not really because of the price but because... it's my car and I love her. She's treated me really well really, and I'm sad that our relationship is coming to an end. (She's my second car).

Still it puts all this wedding budget talk into perspective... especially if it means getting a new car!!
    ARGH!

    *edit*
Okay I've had time to cool down. There is no reason to sell her. Yes she's going to cost us a fortune that we can't afford. But we'll just have to suck it up for a month - just bad timing. MrD is going to Finland for a trip this coming month, I'm off to stay at a posh hotel with some friends, and it's bike racing season starting soon. S*ds law!
