Hi,
I have been lurking on here a while but we have now set a date.
I am getting married on 28th July 2012. So far I have the ceremony and reception booked and am looking at dresses at the moment. I love the Alfred Angelo ones. So much to do so little time xx0 -
See at the moment LauraL, I envision the nightmare of not finding 'the one' dress, lol and you go and find two!!
I have kept my comments to a PM just incase there are eyes reading this lol. I don't know how I'd manage to decide between two - lol especially if they were in different stores. I assume the two you've seen are in the same store? So you could in theory hold them up side by side, then try them both on and see if one of them 'wins'.
tfutcher - congratulations and welcome to the excitement that is July 2012I have to admit I do like the bodices on the Alfred Angelo dresses. The one I linked to before (the little white dress) almost had my mum in tears when I sent it to her via email. Lol can you imagine what a wreck she is going to be in the flesh!! Haaa!! (I plan on making her cry lol). Look forward to hearing all about your plans.

Hi all,
Thanks MrsDrink for taking the time to reply to my rant! I think I must just be a miserable cow:rotfl: I want him to cut down his family too - most of them are perfectly pleasant, but he only sees them once in a blue moon and his cousin is getting married late this year and he hasn't been invited to that, so clearly the whole 'family' thing isn't as important to them... Problem is I'd feel unreasonable asking him to chop them, or just do Aunties/Uncles and not cousins, or whatever, because I'll be inviting mine (although I only have two cousins).
Loving the cheesecake idea by the way, that would make a pleasant change and would be lovely as it's hopefully going to be a nice sunny summers day!
In my more enthusiatic moments I like the idea of cupcakes with marshmallow icing but not sure how they will hold up, don't want them going all sloppy and getting all over everyones best clothes!
LauraL well done for finding a dress - that must be the hardest bit! My OH says that it doesn't really matter because you're the bride, everyone will say how lovely you look even if you were in a white bin bag but us girls know different that every woman in the room is gonna be secretly thinking, 'wow her !!!! looks massive in that/look at her back fat flopping out/that dress makes her hips look deformed' (or am I just a !!!!! lol)
Congrats tfutcher you are getting married on my birthday

Oh man I need to go back to school - I've just seen my name as the last poster on far too many threads lol.Problem is I'd feel unreasonable asking him to chop them, or just do Aunties/Uncles and not cousins, or whatever, because I'll be inviting mine (although I only have two cousins).Loving the cheesecake idea by the way, that would make a pleasant change and would be lovely as it's hopefully going to be a nice sunny summers day!
Although I'm gutted that in order to have a cake stand like the one in the photo to stand 60 individual cakes it'd cost over £50. Scandalous!! I have seen a square 5 tiered acrylic stand for under £30 that would fit them all, but may not be as pretty lol.

I'm afraid to admit I do it too!! I'm a regular cow!! Lol I did wonder what the first !s were (t..s or bum), and then thought saying her boobs looked massive wasn't very catty lol.:rotfl: The greatest thing though is I've slowly but surely brought MrD down to my level - we went to a wedding 2 years ago (before he agreed to marry me) and we just sat there slatting it all :rotfl:0 -

That is a bggr isn't it! As I said before we have the same problem cause my family is small and MrD's isn't. We had a brief chat about guests last night actually - I told him (lol aren't I nice) who I would invite from his family - the ones I actually know. He has so many of them though I wouldn't know if I walked past half of them in the street! He said something along the lines of "I'll have to speak to my mum"... at which I cringed. We're paying for this and there is only so many people who will fit in our house/garden. And I really want it to be in our garden so we can keep a tight rein on the finances. ... lol sorry I've turned this into a mini rant about my situation lol. I do hope you get it sorted Silaqui - and when you do - let us all know how you did it! :rotfl:

Ooo marshmallow icing - lol when I was contemplating cupcakes I just thought about piped buttercream. Nice and simple, minimum fuss. But there really is some stunning cupcake decorations out there. Perhaps another day I'll venture into that. (Lol I plan on buying cheese cakes and just cutting them up into squares - not sure if I'm repeating myself here lol).
*raises her hand*

It is a difficult situation though isn't it, because it's meant to be a joining of families and here we are having to say no I don't want that rabble coming :rotfl:I shall let you know! I'm contemplating saying no under 18's haha
Thats ridiculously expensive - could you modify the acrylic one? Stick little weddingy themed glitter bits on it or something (that sounds naff, but I know what I mean - like the table glitter you can get?)
With your cheesecakes you could cut the plain ones up into squares and do a little bit of decoration on them then when you serve it, have bowls of different fruit compotes for people to help themselves (like mandarin, strawberry, blackcurrant etc). You could put them in different sized bowls and it would look really cool! Sorry I find it much easier think of random things when it's not for me lol!
Hahaha yes it was bum lol didn't realise quite how ranty I was getting! Pass the swear box...!
